Money comes and goes, but Love….
Just like any addict, or those in love ,sometimes it takes a few times to get things right. That's called being human.

You sold everything!
What was smart about, it seems, giving a "friend" the storage key so he could sell, give away, and trash your things? When you move, if it seems to be at least a semi permanent thing, you bring them with you. That's what I did, and still have them here, and will bring them back to the states when we move back. Some things can be replaced, mine really couldn't.

Sadistic Thai father confesses to killing five children in chilling case
Actually, there are quite a few countries with a lot of serial killer in history. England has quite a few, and Thailand, a lot more than 4 as you can see by the link. What I can't fathom, is how this plain looking , spineless, weak, sunken chested man got 4 partners here. What's in the thinking of these Thai woman? And they actually helped him kill some of these children? In the US, this would warrant the death penalty in a few states, for the both of them, or more of the women if the evidence finds . No matter what anyone here has said, and the inventive ways are warranted, if you saw Law Abiding Citizen you would understand the thinking of anyone who calls themself a parent. This was learned behavior, from an abusive and or neglective childhood, and there is no cure. Some are psychopaths from birth, and some are from their environment. I'm not against the death penalty, especially in this kind of case. What I'm against is letting him live in prison for years waiting for it, and it sometimes never comes...............https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massacres_in_Thailand

Thai Workers Are A Joke
I wasn't here all of the time, and most of it came to be afterwards. Shoddy workmanship is rampant here, as I've heard from many, and now many more.

Thai Workers Are A Joke
I have had a couple of workers come to the house and do very good work. The builder though, he was a total waste. I had to re paint the whole house less than a year later. Cracks in the walls from shifting, the water pump for the well died in the same year. One electrical outlet in the kitchen was built into the wall, meaning I can't replace it without cutting the outside edges away, unlike back in the US where you can replace an outlet in a matter of minutes just by removing the face plate, then the outlet wires. When you touch the microwave or toaster, you get a small shock (ground problem). Two of the doors from settling won't completely close. The ceiling molding has fallen in three rooms, so I had to replace them. The sheet rock fell in 6 places, needing replacement of wood instead. Moisture from the air. The bathroom toilets stopped working and leaked, replaced. The pipe from the kitchen sink ran through the wall, then turned outside, and got clogged where a snake didn't work. Had to have a man come out and re position the pipe straight to the outside. The windows, sliding, had bugs go under the window and get in, so I put screens in, and they still got under, so I had to, for now, use clear tape to seal the sides and bottoms. If this happened back home, he wouldn't get another job. Here, it's mai pen rai, but not to me.

13 year old girl hides truth about giving birth to baby after being raped
You weren't a 12 year old GIRL, in Thailand, where everyone knows the law lacks enforcement. Even in America, girls are reluctant to come forward because of shame, and knowing they will be put through hell, with the other party saying it was mutual. And this is yet another case of grandma being the parent, as there is no mention of a father or mother. And grandma didn't notice she was pregnant? Not aware, unless she was wearing very baggy clothes the whole time.

Re read your first line for your answer. A keeper should always be kept, and treated well, as not only number 1, but the only one.

Buying plane tickets
Try Justfly or Cheapoair. I've used them for years, and they usually are the cheapest way. Not sure about flying to the UK, as I've only gone from here to the US and back.Just an example, not knowing dates or destination.......https://www.justfly.com/flight/search?num_adults=1&num_children=0&num_infants=0&num_infants_lap=0&seat_class=Economy&seg0_date=2023-10-02&seg0_from=BKK&seg0_to=CDG&seg1_date=2023-11-06&seg1_from=CDG&seg1_to=BKK&type=roundtrip&search_id=bcee0dc0477a020a79958fc894e50a17

Give your life a score out of 10 in Thailand and last few years in farangland
To see pretty women in America, all you have to do is go outside. When I lived there, I saw them everyday, especially in larger towns like Austin and San Antonio. I think Thai ladies are the prettiest females on earth, but there were some western women that would rival any here. Prices suck, but that's happening here also, and will continue to rise.

What makes people follow made-up morality, obey silly, foolish or simply unenforceable laws.
Laws are followed but like anywhere there is poverty, money talks, and people get off easier. One major reason this country will continue to falter is the lack of enforcement. people are getting more and more pi**ed about what's been going on here, and the protests are going to continue until things change, which can still take years. When others are made more aware of the ways of western courts, and how people are punished more severely for murder, rape and trafficking, they will more likely protest more. Sheep never get things done, and complaining is the only way to rid society of those that don't belong in charge.

We don't rely on the law back home in the US. Nor anyone else we are at . We know the law won't be around when you really need them. Here, they could be present and it could go bad because I'm a foreigner. You have to live by the I will take matters into my own hands to protect myself or what's mine, and they will be the ones who lose. Been there, done it. If someone threatens my or my family's life, they will lose. It isn't arrogance but what is real. Defending yourself against someone who has a gun or machete in their hands, and they come after you, it's self defense anywhere. Thai law............ Section 67 Any person shall not be punished for committing any offence on account of necessity: When such person is under compulsion or under the influence of a force such that such person cannot avoid or resist; or When such person acts in order to make himself or another person to escape from an imminent danger which could not be avoided by any other means, and which such person did not cause to exist through his own fault. Provided that no more is done than is reasonably necessary under the circumstances. Section 68 Any person is to commit any act for defending his own right or other person's right in order to except from a danger arising out of violence tortuous to the law and such danger to be imminent, if reasonably having committed under the circumstance, such act is a lawful defense, and such person shall not have a quilt. Section 69 In the cases as provided in Sections 67 and 68, if the act committed is in excess of what is reasonable under the circumstances or in excess of what is necessary, or in excess of what is necessary for the defense, the Court may inflict less punishment to any extent than that provided by the law for such offence. But, if such act occurs out of excitement, fright or fear, the Court may not inflict any punishment at all.

Only 5 countries to go, why waste time? I recommend a visit to North Sentinel island, out in the Bay of Bengal, not too far away from Thailand.. They'll welcome such a world traveler.

VCR to DVD
This is from 2018. Not sure if still valid, from another posting here Panthip Plaza 3rd? Floor. 053-217949, 08-9191-4110 But be advised that they are VERY expensive. I took a a few (4) VHS cassettes over to be transferred to DVD and the guy wanted 6K Baht. He says he has to disassemble the cassettes and clean the mold off the tape before he will use them in his machines. He said it takes him minimum 3-4 hours per cassette. He would not negotiate. I've passed by 20 times and never seen a customer in there. So a few weeks later I asked a Thai friend to inquire and see what kind of price he would be quoted. He was quoted more - 6200 Baht (that should dispel an theory that farangs get charged more.) My friend also said that he would not negotiate the price and that he told him that he is the only person in Chiang Mai that offers this service because "nobody else knew what they were doing and they have all gone out of business." I checked with a friend in Bangkok who is quite knowledgeable and he told me that the price is correct to do the job properly. He said all video cassettes in Thailand will have mold if not stored individually in zip lock bags with silica gel inside. Heads are getting harder to find to keep the old machines running. Another in bangkok.............https://web.facebook.com/digital.station.bangkok/?_rdc=1&_rdr

What makes people follow made-up morality, obey silly, foolish or simply unenforceable laws.
They come at you with a machete or gun you defend yourself with whatever force necessary. That is attempted murder, and the price is harsh, at least to an American. If they are in such a hurry, they wouldn't brake test you .If they do, that's arrogance, thinking they own the road. They don't.

If I'm doing the speed limit, or slightly above, in the outer lane, and someone comes up on my arse, without flashing their lights, I stay right there. They have a lane to the left to go around you, you aren't going too slow in the outer lane, and arrogance doesn't fly with me anyway. If they are in a hurry, flash your lights, and I'll gladly let you pass, even though again, they could just go around me. Same thing back home in Texas. If there is traffic, and they want to go faster, and I can pull to the left, I will. But getting up on my arse isn't going to help their cause.

Give your life a score out of 10 in Thailand and last few years in farangland
8 back home in Texas, very little problems. Here, maybe a 2. Only things good here are it's less expensive and my girlfriend now is good to me. Bad choice moving here but I wasn't going to leave my daughter here to live knowing what her future would be.. Good food here, much better back home. Boring in Isaan, something to do daily back home. Here power goes out daily for a few seconds, and weekly for hours. Back home maybe three times a year. Wifi here inconsistent, back home never a problem. Roads here terrible, back home fixed very fast, and potholes didn't happen a month after fixing them. Bugs here make Texas look like paradise. Rainy season and hot back home more temperate and variable. many others but just a few.

PEA power shortages
Just happened while I was reading this posting! It's Mai pen rai as far as locals doing anything about it. Like I mentioned, my ex said this had been happening for years before I even moved here. One more reason I'm moving back asap. This has nothing to do with anything besides incompetency. Power should not go out unless there is a storm, and something was hit, besides trees hitting the lines, which they finally cleared last year around here. This is equipment failure, or improper maintenance. Seeing it happens all over, that is more reason to believe it's who they are hiring, and training, or the lack of it. There is now a heavy storm at my house, and the power is staying on.

No speed limits are meant to be broken. If you are going over a posted speed limit, you are not driving safely. And those tickets might catch up to you eventually, as they passed a law last year enforcing them, and who do you think they will make pay?
