  1. One of many reasons for re settling back home
  2. Only problems with that are, meat tastes great, and is good for you in small quantities. If they stop killing animals for meat, they will over populate, and need much more vegetation. Vegetation requires land. Land is devoured daily by rich people for development, which is a major contribution to the demise of earth. Animals eat much of the vegetation humans need, which would take away from our vegan requirements if meat was outlawed as food. We can't rely on fish, because that already is over harvested by netters, Asians who have no regard for anything besides profit. God (yes, I believe, and others don't so will argue) put the animals on earth for us to eat, and some to domesticate. Some eat domestic animals, which is another sad point. As far as soi dogs, I've done my share, feeding many dogs over the 6 years I've been here, although some local sick farmer has been poisoning dogs in our village. At least, until he is found out. Some people hate dogs, and their replies are always here. Dogs can be pests, and they do have to be controlled, but in a humane way, sparing the healthy ones and spaying and neutering all that are caught. Euthanizing the sick is a given, as suffering isn't right for anything. Those that think all should be killed are those that have been taught hatred towards animals, and the next step after that is humans.
  3. This. When I lived back home, I rarely got a cold nor anything else. After coming here, it started, especially after Covid hit. I had it at least two times, and I'm thinking it's been long Covid since then. Cough that comes and goes, scratchy throat. Gastro problems I thought were from chilis, chicken not cooked well enough or something else. Congestion , although I do have allergies, this hasn't affected me as much since I left the US until recently. Headaches, which I almost never got before. As far as sickness spreading fast here, this is always because of shared water cups, sticky rice, utensils touched by others. I tell my girlfriend now to have everyone use separate cups for water, but it doesn't get through. When one gets sick in a house, they all do. Kids in school hovering over each other, sick kids parents put in school because they won't keep them home and take care of them, so they spread whatever all around.
  4. What exactly comprises a fake account? If they are fake, what's the point? Why would someone bother to make a fake account here? Why spend time answering posts, besides to troll, and that's childish so that might be a legitimate reason, boredom. And how does one know if fake accounts well outnumber real ones if they don't own the forum and check into them? Depressing does describe some posts, yes.
  5. Parenting is good and bad in every country. Look at the results in what's going on n the world. The US where I'm from has it's share of idiots that call themselves parents, and cell phone over use is everywhere. It's addictive, especially to kids. Thailand does lead the world in one thing. More children raised by grandparents than any other country. Over 35% now, and a lot of those grannies are illiterate so can't teach much if anything at all, and will let the children run rampant when they get to be 8 years old, letting them on scooters ,most without helmets.
  6. No assumptions. Some people are just better musicians than others, and the best musicians have always been in the classical, rock, jazz, blues and fusion genres. What makes a person happy I'll never take away from them. That's what music is for. But some are much better than others, and some of the best never gets nominated and some of the same sounding, soulless pap gets awards.
  7. A different language for the same sounding pop tunes a million play.
  8. People can adjust to bacteria in food, just like Mexicans and their water, but it only takes one time with food poisoning to teach a hard lesson.
  9. Far better for anyone that understands what good music and actual talent is. Kanye West is a talented producer, and many like his music, but it doesn't compare to thousands of other more talented musicians. I won't listen to rap, hip hop and the like because there is so much more better music out there. I'm not saying they aren't good at what they do. Just that their talents are more with the lyrics and stage presence than playing an instrument. And it all sounds the same. People have been copying others for decades, and although there is some music that's been coming out the last decade or so that's good, much of it is more of the same, with the words arranged a little differently. Michael Jackson was great at what he did, and I like a few of his songs, especially the earlier ones, but he still isn't in the league of Lightfoot, Dylan, Floyd, Skynyrd, Moody Blues, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, and hundreds more. I love older R&B, and always will. Simple music, musicians that were mostly average, but still better than what's been put out today in R&B. This isn't easy for someone to understand that only likes one genre, such as pop, hip hop or rap, and hasn't been exposed to more that is more meaningful and better played. Some of my friends still listen, as i do, to old 70's and 80's rock, without giving anything newer a chance. That was great music, but there are artists today that are better musicins than those were back then. One in particular, who is probably in the top 3 of guitar players, and lyricists, is Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. 4 Grammys. He has more good music, and lyrics, than Beyonce will ever dream of having, yet he's far less known, especially of younger people, because a lot of younger people love pop music, and never rise above it.
  10. Just one of over 500 that are killed by elephants yearly. They don't like people around their young.
  11. That was my point. His music is far better than much of what passes for music these days, and no nominations for a Grammy. And he's but one of many. And Pink Floyd, another one much better than any pop artist, received only one, for an album that's not near their top 4.
  12. Might want to read that link I posted. Getting sick from rice happens all the time here, and that's exactly the reason. Refrigerated it's okay, then reheated.
  13. I won't say anything much about Beck. He's okay but Grammy awards mean little. Beyonce has the most, and it's pop music, which isn't the most talented genre. A lot of the music is made using electronics, and not actual musicians, and it's more for the stage show, which can take away from the actual music. U2 has the most as a group, and again, their music isn't that good. Shows the age group of most voters, and politics. Gordon Lightfoot has never received a Grammy award, and he had more talent than all the others combined, and then some. He did receive 16 Juno awards, which is like a Canadian Grammy, but his music was worldwide, so he should have won many. Many artists are much better than those, and other pop artists, especially as musicians, and many are never nominated for the Rock or Country Hall of Fame. Much of today's music is popular for the younger crowd, and it's because of the stage shows and artists acting like sluts onstage, which kids love. It isn't talent in music but appearance,
  14. To help others, this is but one of many links you can find......................https://www.foodnetwork.com/healthyeats/healthy-tips/2020/04/is-it-safe-to-eat-leftover-rice
  15. True. When my daughter here was born, by caesarean at 8 months, the doctor told my ex she had to come out because she was too big for mom. She was born around 5 kilos plus if I remember correctly. I was born at 9 months at 4.16 kilos, so my daughter was huge compared to local kids. My ex looked like she was carrying a sack of potatoes down low. I have told my now girlfriend many times to toss the rice from the day before because many get sick from leftover., but she said she's always done it.
  16. No, I don't know it all. No one does, and always open to new information. I have been in the game for over 50 years, and pretty much know what works and what doesn't. A Keto diet is okay for awhile, as long as you do have carbs with it, along with fiber. I'll do it once in awhile but love pasta, rice, fruit, popcorn and bread too much to leave it out for long.At my age, 67, with never doing any aerobic activity besides Tae Kwando awhile ago, I have to watch my carbs also, because I've always had a slower metabolism. I could get ripped easy back before I turned 50. Now it's really hard, because of the carb like. I never really went by what the SAD said, I just ate healthy, and the carbs I ate, with pasta at least 3 times a week, and rice the other, were burned off. Now it's not that way, and I need to adjust. I always believed in getting enough fiber to be regular, 2 times a day normally, even though I do have problems with the gastro system at times. That could be coffee, chilis, which I rarely ate before, or the chicken here, which is left out and not wrapped and chilled like it is back home. I've always avoided sweets and sugar , knowing it's empty calories and not healthy in large amounts. I have joint pains because I used to squat up to 530 lbs and did reps with 400+. Didn't listen to the older trainers who warned me to stay away from such heavy weights. (I was always at around 175 lbs, so that was heavy on my frame anyway). I actually wish I could just eat mostly meat and fish, because I do love it, but it's hard to give up most of the carbs, at least for now.
  17. I wonder where some get these stats from. Is there a website that lists why people move here and the true reasons? I know about 60 here and they all are pretty okay as far as resources. The one's I know I ask questions about say the same things. Granted, a lot do drink, but that's the national pastime here and many other places also.
  18. Penfolds Grange is one of the best reds around. Many do buy it but it's very expensive and not worth the price, nor is any other bottle of wine, unless it's a rare antique from a log time ago. I had a 1953 Chateau Latour back in 1980 or so that was, and still is, the best red I've ever had. Was it worth the $250 (I didn't pay that much) it retailed for? No, no wine is worth that much, although the price does go on availability, a good vintage year and name. It costs between $1,400 to $3,500 mainly because it's rare now.A Penfolds Grange for 24 K? Those that can afford to drink a wine like that, besides the few millionaires that have invented something useful, have made money either illegally or by raping the earth's resources or using people.
  19. Is that Shine's Bar? That's what I saw looking at google maps. I'm 1/2 Irish, so want to visit to see sights. My niece, husband and my brother's wife just got back from seeing some of it. I waited a long time before I went anywhere, as i was raising kids back home in Texas. My Mom always wanted to go to Ireland, and her sister tried to talk her into it, but she never went, then died without getting to go. I promised myself that I would see at least 7 countries in Europe before I die, even if I have to walk much of it.
  20. Not sure what you mean, but he's a good guy, has kids back home and in Sweden, visits them yearly, wife is very nice.
  21. One thing that's for certain. You never know who you're talking to here unless you meet them. They can say they are an American male, mid 40's, strong , bodybuilder physique, former world class skier, business degree, living here with a WP, dated only Isaan farm girls, married one, have three UNI kids, all business degrees, large 200 Rai farm, 2 million baht house, when in reality they are female, Thai, dropped out of school at 12, mom and dad both in jail for yaba offenses, 230 pounds, divorced with two Thai kids, both in jail, husband left, lives with his mother, alcoholic, lives in 100 year old wood house with 25 cats and is pregnant again from a farang she met in Pattaya.
  22. I have a friend here, from the states, who lived many years in Sweden before moving here and staying. He likes to go to bars to talk with other farangs, has a degree in business, two homes, one here and the other there, and isn't near a loser.
  23. Yep. Now she wants to come back and I'm not interested. I would rather live in America with my daughter by myself than stay here with her in my life. Trust isn't there.
