True Extent of Migrant Crossings Under Vice President Harris Exposed
fredwiggy replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I'm sure, like myself, he meant open borders as in policies. The US does not allow anyone in besides what he and I mentioned. Open borders themselves is how thousands get in every year, and there is no way to stop all of them, as no wall can't be gotten past, under or around. Again, if those hiring them would be punished, it would curtail the amount coming in. No jobs, no reason to come in besides working illegally in homes. I fully understand people wanting to work in the US, but do it legally. Many jobs they take Americans won't do, which is also absurd because some are unemployed and could use any work. -

I'd like to see where she said this, as no one supports open borders but allowing certain ones to come in, like spouses of those already here. Open border means everyone can come in un documented, but as has been seen, illegals are sent back everyday. When I lived in Texas, and hunted south Texas, I would see then many times crossing ranches and roads heading north, and would also see many in buses heading back, as well as knew a few border patrol agents i sold guns to, who told their stories. -

Who's to say they were working when thousands were still coming in daily? -

I think you're misunderstanding some things. The amount of people has increased because of more conflict in the lower countries...................https://www.thenation.com/article/world/biden-mexico-border-detention/ -
British Man Found Shirtless and Agitated on Pattaya Roadside

Making negative comments about foreigners, coming from other foreigners, shows the locals if they can talk bad about themselves, they must all be pretty bad, because they figure we would show restraint. When someone does something wrong, and not to you, it's the policeman's job, not yours. Of course shady foreigners make others look bad, but pointing it out isn't your deal. You buy women, which in some ways is against the law, so that could make you a criminal also, depending on the circumstances. -

The main problem is US citizens, meaning rich citizens, hiring these laborers. You punish them severely, the amount of illegals slows down. People have been sneaking in daily for decades, and there's no way to estimate exactly how many are coming in. Population increases daily, which means more are coming in from other countries to find work, or to escape violence in their countries. Covid slowed down quite a few during Trumps tenor, but millions still came in, and his wall didn't do much to slow them down. Biden wanted to allow spouses of those already here a chance to stay. Can't blame Biden or Harris, as other presidents have been enduring this for as long as I've lived. -

Yes, but again, if it's negative comments, it still makes all foreigners look bad. -

Like I've said before, many times. Some assume they know people in an online forum. You don't. It isn't being defensive when you don't like seeing adults acting like teenagers. And again, it's none of your business what other foreigners do unless it affects you personally and just by posting negatives about them, it makes others look bad, including yourself. -

Are you the appointed farang policeman? And you missed my point. And what should be done with the thousands of corrupt and criminal locals here? -

What they don't realize, or not care, is that every negative remark against any foreigner makes us all look bad. I'm not for sticking up for any bad behavior, but it's best to remain silent as not to supply ammunition. -

I'm wondering if you realize just how many criminals, especially white collar types, that there are without a criminal record. -

Jumping to conclusions and assumptions are high here, along with prejudice against certain nationalities, and seeing it's a forum of mainly retired expats, it simply amazes me what some say. -

How do you know many are worried? It sounds like yet another assumption. You know. Someone tells someone something and it's instantly a fact because they for some reason trust this person's opinion about others. Are you asking him if he has a criminal record to put anxiety in him, thinking he might have one and would be worried? -

A bad past history with them? -
Not my opinion but facts gained from years before moving here, seeing it for myself, and hearing it from many others who both lived here and moved from here because of those reasons, or were born here and didn't like living here also. It's easy to hide in a village here and be content with a blase life, as long as you have a young wife and some things to pass the time. Most everyone I know personally here leaves to go back to their country because they miss it every year, or just stay here because their wives don't want to leave for whatever reasons they have. Of course there are some who just enjoy drinking daily and having sex with bar girls because it's an easy life, and still miss their countries, but didn't have anyone back home to visit so stay here. I see things just how they are here, and many others have verified this in their lives. It's just not easy to move and settle down again, so many just stay because it's easier.

You could say much the same thing about Thailand. No one doing much of a job enforcing laws, gun crimes committed daily,as well as mass shootings going on, intentional homicides higher than the US, many people with guns, and many illegal, and kids not only having access but having guns in possession at younger ages than the US. Too many guns aren't the problem. Mental illness is, and letting those with such access to those guns, instead of locking them up, as all responsible gun owners should. Many lives are saved every year by citizens with guns, and that will continue because that mental illness will never go away. Keeping guns away from those kinds is what needs to be done. Responsible gun owners, hunters, target shooters and those for self protection aren't the ones committing gun crimes. It's the crazies getting them in their hands, just as it is here.

Nothing wrong with the Brits nor any other nationality. People aren't jealous or unfortunate not having been born there, as all other countries have their good and bad, with none having any advantages over others, besides the fact that the US, being so large North to South, has 4 seasons which many countries don't. People who hate others have a problem. -

It wasn't meant to impress anyone but respond to someones thinking that was off, that people who are muscular are likely doing steroids, which isn't true. -
Maybe so, but America has everything anyone needs all in one place, and things that are much better than here, and safer. A better place to raise children for sure, and a much safer place to drive. People who jobs much better with more pride, and the corruption level doesn't come anywhere near this place. A place is joyless if it doesn't have things you like. Thailand is one of the most boring places on earth, besides the beach areas. Everywhere else is exactly the same, and a rainy season where you can't enjoy anything outdoors, and a burning season in many areas where your lungs are taking a toll if you spend any time outside, and if you have to stay indoors like many do, what's the sense living here? Things cost more int he US because people make more, and availability is 100% on everything, whereas here many things you have to buy online or not able to get anyway. Like I mentioned, if you like to stay indoors much of the time, drinking or other things, and are happy puttering around in the garden or playing golf, Thailand is okay. Besides that, there's not much to do besides eat, and that and all other things you can do anywhere, without all the visa hassles and related things. And living here on a day to day basis for over 6 years, I don't see much happiness in the locals, besides gossiping and drinking. I hear from many of them how bored and sad many of them are, for the same reasons I mentioned.

I've had the opposite experience living in the US. I see many people happy and having fun, although the economy is in trouble. People here are suppressed, and they can't speak their minds without fear. being controlled isn't freedom, and that's what the US has, along with everything else on earth you could want on one continent. You at first said ...."I am in the US right now, and the prices and inflation are mind blowing.".......Now you said........"Going back to the US is not an option for me. I would not want to live there now,", so now I'm wondering where you are, although it doesn't really matter. If you like it here, that's okay.I'm seeing how this place will be over the next decade or so, and it's not a good thought.
