  1. I have it (purchased it in the US back on launch)

    It's fantastic!

Slightly more current and equally good I would recommend the HTC Desire (2nd flr Central at AbexCyberCity) or the Samsung Galaxy S (Samsung shop)

I noticed that the phone shop closest to Power Buy (part of power buy??) has a Motorola Milestone (GSM Droid) in stock if you are looking for something with a keyboard.

while all those are good phones I will say that it's sometimes good to have the 'chosen' phone. I've been enjoying Froyo 2.2 and Flash 10.1 on my N1 from 2 months ago.

  2. Company: New Tor-a-loy (New tor a loi)

Talk to K. Oak, she speaks great English if you need it

(have a number lying around somewhere and if i find it i'll post the number)

the shop is located on the same street as the customs house and immigration

coming from the circle in Phuket town going towards immigration

Pass through the stop light, go past the small Chinese temple on you left, go slowly about another 100 meeters and keep looking on your left hand side you will see a shop with lots of bumpers and maybe a fiberglass canopy out side and that's the shop!

If you hit the pedestrian overpass you've gone too far.

the shop is small and unassuming from the front but it's huge in the back.

if you want to drive to the back of the shop (first you have to know where it is) there's a small soi off to your left before the shop,

turn down that soi and then make your first right into the compound.

    good luck

  3. Hi,

do you know if HTC phones as Google Nexus one or HTC Desire are available with Froyo Android 2.2 system in Bangkok ?

    Thanks a lot.

If you can get you hands on a Nexus One it will either come with 2.2 or if it comes with 2.1 the 2.2 OTA update is live so you can update it immediately.

Desire - ??? don't know don't have one. Check the XDA developer forums

  4. I have a Nexus one, purchased it back in January and have enjoyed every min of it.

I got my first OTA update here in Thailand when it was still 2.1 (guess it was a 2.1.1 update)

When the first 2.2 for an un-rooted Nexus came out i followed the links downloaded the packaged and updated my phone to 2.2 that was back in may (25th according to my twitter stream)

Since then I've done one incremental patch FRF5? ->FRF72 (again downloaded the file and updated off of the SD card)

decided to by pass the update to FRF 80somthing update and yesterday i got my OTA update to 2.2 FRF91

works great, love the flash 10.1 on it. Just wish that google would hurry up and check it's own apps with the flag to install to SD card.

    TIP for Flash websites.

If your device is being identified as a mobile device you can change your device's broadcast appearance

in the browser type in "about:debug" and hit go.

then go to settings -> UAString and select Desktop.

websites think you're a desktop now.

worked for streaming the daily show for me :-)

  5. Hi,

Can you confirm that no HTC or Android phone is as good as the iPhone 3 or iphone 4 ?

I'm not interested in anything with a phone except having the biggest screen for internet and the fastest phone to write messages and browse the phone menu, and it seems that Android is not as fast as iPhone, so iPhone 3 or iPhone 4 are the only options ?

    Thanks for help.

I believe it to be just as good if not better in some respects. (Do not intend to start a PC Vs Mac type holy war with this post)

    :offtopic:

With Android you can choose your hardware (HTC, Moto, Samsung, LG, Sony)

    It will will play Flash.

you get multi notifications on you device ( The notification bar on the Android phone can alert you to new voice messages, email messages, Facebook notifications, new Gmail, new text messages, and much more )

    tight Google integration

    Tremendous voice to text capabilities

A physical keyboard (if you want one)

Manage your connectivity from your home screen: access to your WiFi, bluetooth, GPS, Data Sync and screen brightness all in one go.

Will accept any sim card (new iphone 4 uses a micro sim)

you can swap the battery out

    you can boot custom roms

you can hold it any way you like :whistling: (ok that last on was a dig at iphone)

    :yellowcard:

I have Had my Nexus One Since January and It's been fantastic and really zippy and i have received constant over the air updates adding speed and functionality to my device.

Current top spec android phones available at the moment that I would suggest are the HTC Desire and the Samsung Galaxy S both of which you can get in Phuket.

do a google search for a show down between phones and see what you come up with

e.g. iPhone 4 vs Dell Streak vs HTC Desire vs Samsung Galaxy S vs iPhone 3GS

  6. Go to the basement of big c. Comp shop under the inclinator. They sell power supplies for laptops, all brands. Just bought a replacement there recently. If you have your original 'power brick' bring it with you to size up the connector pin. Or else bring your original computer and see if it will get some juice.

Billed as "the most colorful hotel in Phuket" you can't miss it, just look for the most colorful hotel in Phuket. Parking is limited within the hotel grounds itself but is plentiful in the parking area of the adjacent row of shophouse businesses. Additionally a large parking lot will be available from behind the Dara Hotel with an entrance directly into the hotel. We have a map posted on our website. The managing director Khun Katha has worked with our team extensively and we're in for a very pleasing evening.
