  1. Sorry ladyboys of Thailand, sex work isn't on the list of protected jobs
  2. Thats without looking at businesses established just to enable a foreigner to buy property, they turn that stone and people are going to lose their homes
  3. How is this newsworthy? Hundreds of people do this every day unfortunately most will return home with their tail between their legs. I give it 4 months and few trips to immigration before those rose tinted glasses are slapped off his face. Said he was working as a receptionist for £11 an hour so bet he wasn’t get vast amounts of money saved, doesn’t mention after university so not sure he has a degree (good luck getting a long term teaching job where you can settle down and have a family without one) having a British passport and language means nothing anymore unlike 15 years ago when it was a rarity and guaranteed you a job. Thailand is much cheaper than the Uk but the typical salary here is less as well (unless you have certain skills and qualifications in demand, not really screaming out for receptionists last time i checked recruitment websites) wish him luck but think he is for a rude awakening when reality sets in, AseanNow thought this was news worthy lets see if they can do a follow in the next 4 months when his visa expires and then again in 12 months if he is still here
  4. If its ok for hospitals, restaurants, national parks then why cant a foreigner have a similar policy?
  5. Is this the new justice system for ladyboys, they get caught stealing and foreigners are allowed to create a mob and attack them
  6. Stupid and deserves punishment but cmon Thailand demonstrations!! You have far bigger things to worry about, rape murder, drugs, child abuse even the ex prime minister who was actually sentenced to 8 years in jail and is now free without spending 24 hours behind bars didnt get this many protesters
  7. Will be thoroughly reviewed by the cabinet before implementation! Hold on am I missing something ? Isn't one of the current cabinet namely the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for the whole debacle of decriminalizing weed in the first place… after he encouraged investors is he going to be held liable
  8. Ok not the best idea but id be more concerned about the guy who rode past then turned around then located himself in a good position to be able to film, every dodgy thing a foreigner does will negatively effect the image of Thailand.. half the stuff thats goes on in Thailand daily that the news doesn’t publish would be disastrous for the country if it was reported in English
  9. This will blow up in her face when she actually travels to Thailand next, her passport will set off alarms
  10. What about sugar and product containing excess amounts of sugar? We all know the risks of smoking and alcohol but these hidden sugars in our foods kill more people each year than cigarettes and booze added together
  11. Opening a pandora’s box with this investigation. All i can say is the entire RTP better have clean hands with no discrepancies between their salary and perceived wealth. Cant see him going quietly without taking much of the force with him
  12. Thats going to go down well with Putin, he has been losing 1000 soldiers a day in recent weeks attacking Adivka, he will need to start drafting again after the elections so males of fighting age will have to flee
  13. Just stop waisting taxpayers prosecuting cases which will go nowhere, nothing sticks to teflon
  14. Intrigued about his illness, so sick that had to stay in hospital instead of returning to prison and the day he is given parole he is miraculously all better and able to leave
  15. Why would it alter thai politics? He has been running the country from his hospital bed since they came into power
  16. Few bad elements can quickly give a country a bad name, however Asean now seems to only publish incidents relating to foreigners in trouble, if it was to actually watch and report incidents happening among local residents on the thai news channels then they would cause a drastic drop in foreign visitors and likely come under pressure from the government. Best to cause divisions among the foreigners than to report the whole news
  17. The allure of high salaries (compared to Thailand) what they don’t factor in is the high cost of living expenses and the taxes each month that they will be subject to, heard it many times before “ my son is going to London and will be working at Dunkin’ Donuts and will be earning 80,000 baht a month” can see there heart sink when i tell them about London rents and uk tax and national insurance payments
  18. Dont even try to hide the fact that there are separate justice systems for the rich and poor anymore
  19. “Its a miracle “ deaths door for months so he didn't have to go to jail, now he is being pardoned fir enough to leave the hospital hallelujah hallelujah. Who needs modern medicine when all that was needed was parole
  20. Another boating incident involving group of Chinese tourists, not going to boost Chinese tourism when that hits the news back home
  21. Tragic but on the plus side he was savvy enough to ensure he had full medical insurance coverage, Thailand is not the place to holiday and just wing it, the roads are perilous to put it politely, footpaths aren't much safe, a dispute with locals or other tourists can quickly turn deadly, and low railings on hotel balconies seem to take several visitors lives each year.
  22. The balcony railings in many of these hotels certainly don’t comply with European standards vast majority are very low and its very easy (especially after a few beers) to go lean on the railing where you expect it to be and find nothing there and lose your balance.
  23. So the 7 days of death becomes a 15 days of death
  24. Did any one think he actually would? Question now is he has been too sick to return to prison (hardly a return i know after spending just a few hours there) when he is given parole will he suddenly be miraculously cured and no longer need to remain in hospital? Total farce from start to finish and despite every politicians promise that just is for all not just the wealthy and those politicaly connected You can tell its gotten bad in Thailand now, people have simply conceded that T.I.T and nothing will ever change and whats the point in protesting, they had a glimmer of light when the elections saw the move forward party won but was quickly stamped out. They would rather make concessions to Thaksin to guarantee his freedom (was public enemy number 1) rather than concede to change
  25. Welcome to the rest of the world, you wanted Chinese visitors they came saw business opportunities and now undercut thai retailers, what did you expect they were coming here for ?
