Alcohol Sales Prohibited in Thailand on July 20-21, 2024
Thumbs replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No alcohol, what about weed? What about cigarettes? What about meat/fish/eggs? Prescription drugs? Mobile telephone and computers, motor vehicles, sugar and related products if Thailand wants its citizens to be morally Buddhist for 2 days then at least do it properly and ban everything that goes against the teachings of Buddha not pick and choose especially something that will negatively impact tourism, not just about the drink as many restaurants will also close due to loss of patrons and drink revenue thai people don’t abide by the no alcohol sales rule every mom and pop shop will be business as usual, half the rice farmers and laborers can’t function without a redbull bottle full of lao khao -
Thai Govt Disputes Claims of Deserted Tourist Spots
Thumbs replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
I can go mid week and show it as being deserted then i can go a few days later at the weekend and it would be bustling, easy to cook the figures and show it either way, cha am isn’t a huge attraction to visiting foreigners mainly local visitors taking advantage of its relatively close proximity to bangkok at the weekends, can be busy in the week but that’s mainly government departments wasting tax payers money holding “seminars” by the beach -
Pattaya Residents Unite to Defend Dignity Against "Sin City" Media Reports
Thumbs replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
The sin city is what helped it turn into a large coastal tourist city from a quaint little fishing village during the Vietnam war era, it is what it is you don't need to embrace its darker side but you do need to accept it. Lets face it hardly a place id go for white sand and crystal clear waters so many better options in and outside of Thailand -

Thumbs replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News

Surachate 'Big Joke' Hakparn challenges Thai PM over dismissal
Thumbs replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I personally like this guy immigration was a lot less hassle when he was in charge but his comment about his suspension harming the public’s opinion on the police force is a stretch, that ship has long sailed now every Thai i speak to thinks the uniform is the only way to distinguish them from the criminals- 78 replies

Thailand probes wealthy foreigners for money laundering scheme
Thumbs replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand seems to be on a path of self destruction at the moment, persecution of foreigners by ministers (arrest foreigners operating illegal weed shops instead of arresting everyone operating illegal weed shops) Showing investment in Thailand isnt a sound business option as the government can flip flop At anytime and risk your investment as show with the recent weed fiasco now they want to investigate you for having money and wanting to stay in Thailand without the hassle of visas, -

Russian Businessman Arrested for Alleged Assault, Illegal Weapons
Thumbs replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Trace the serial number of the weapons suspect the original purchaser was either police/army/government employee, nice little business buy the gun and get the great government discount then after 6 months sell it on for a profit and buy another. Its unlicensed so trace it back and arrest all those involved not just the foreigner dumb enough to buy it illegally
