When I surf the Internet on my laptop, using my mobile phone as Hub I have the mobile phone plugged in an electricity outlet so that it is charging.  Doing this already more than one year and I experience no impact on the phone battery.

My dtac unlimited data package on 10 Mb, costs me approx 720,- THB each month (no call credit).  I am aware that there are cheaper longer-term schemes, so it's a matter of shopping around to find the scheme that best meets your needs.

    Success!

That is rather unfortunate, as DTAC were offering that package for 200 baht per month, since last November.

Unless you already had an older DTAC SIM, registered before March 2019 and wanted to use that particular number, there was no reason for you to pay more than 200 baht per month.

Unfortunately the period for subscribing to the 200 baht promo has ended.

Older SIM may still have the option of 90 days of 10 Mbps for 1926 baht.

That states the 12th to the 24th of June, if it works. They have repurposed the former 10 Mbps Unlimited code, for this 4 Mbps Unlimited package?

Seems a bit strange, to me.

The wifi was working fine 1 week ago until I connected an ethernet cable to stop some buffering ??

    What did Google tell you?

Did you check that the Adapter has not been disabled?

Ridiculous that they would sell such a device with an old style mechanical hard drive.

Total BS. No science whatsoever. Second hand air? Total nonsense. The unfounded hysteria continues, from an administration so devoid of talent, it boggles the mind. I am not fond of tobacco. Personally, it has taken out countless people that I loved, and really miss. And I find the smell of smoke to be foul.

But, at the same time, I am not fond of big brother, and over reaching laws. If a person cannot smoke outside, where can they smoke? Is it reasonable to tell someone they can only smoke in their homes?

    Yes.

Smokers should not inconvenience non-smokers. On the street nor anywhere else.

If the idiots want to deliberately put poisonous smoke in their lungs, let them do it far away from those who don't.

So yes, it is reasonable. It also stops them being punched in the face or thrown off a baht bus when they refuse to put their cigarette out or get off the bus....

Yes, there were idiots who thought it was their right to be able to smoke on the songthaew.

As you know from the COVID-19 occurrence, people cannot be relied upon to do the right thing.

This way, there is no argument. Bravo! Excellent!

Yes you did and we thank you - once SSD updated all has been well and appears the AIO will never die.  At least Kingston did provide a fix for that SSD system lockup issue - but not sure how many were aware of it.  But as far as all in one units believe there is a place for them as a lot less klutzy than full size units/wires/monitor in a non tech home and larger viewing area than a laptop so comfortable to watch video or operate computer, even for those of us with less than 20/20 - and at current prices they are almost throw away/hand me down for many if a failure.

Of course if you are a bit handy and obtained the item at a good price, then why not? Unfortunately many are bought by people who don't have a clue and they end up as expensive mistakes.

7000 baht to fix that clunker is just too much. Plus it would be remiss to not fit an SSD once the case is open.

So you are looking at possibly 8000 baht to refurbish the device.

It has a poor CPU and a poor screen....and it's going to cost 7000 baht to replace that poor screen.

In contrast I have a PC from 2009, cost me £65, including the cost of an SSD. Separate 24" Full HD monitor costing £100.

For much the same amount of money as the OP paid, I bought a solid aluminium DELL laptop with an i7 CPU and a 17.3" Full HD Gorilla Glass Touchscreen and dedicated graphics card.

On the other hand, these days you can find second hand AIO for sale for next to nothing. A little bit of maintenance, as in fitting an SSD and you can have a inexpensive device for the home.

Another using Lenovo (B310 from 2011).  Computer very well built and longest lasting I have owned (since Commodore 64 days) - yes RAM can be replaced but have had no need to do so and using SSD

Yes, I know. I helped you with it.

    I couldn't disagree more.

I've done tower PC's and laptops many times.

My current AIO Lenovo is the best computer I've ever had.

Almost zero problems for years now.

Of course it helps that Windows is much better than it used to be.

If it crapped out today, I would go out and buy another one.

Who should care if you disagree? You are ONE owner of ONE AIO PC. Whereas I have had MANY instances of people having issues when one component fails. Does it even have a solid state drive fitted? Can you upgrade the RAM yourself if need be?

Perhaps you can tell your story to the OP. He can rush out to buy another.

  8. The advice is always, never to buy an AIO PC. This is one of the reasons often quoted. That you may have to scrap the whole thing when there is a problem or pay through the nose to have it fixed.

You can of course source the (crappy) panel yourself for around US$100 and have it fitted for you.

In addition, it is likely in need of an SSD.

I always go to this website, they have all the plans listed.

I just got the AIS 10MBPS unlimited for 200B, it's great.  I'm using it as a hotspot for my laptop and have already used 80GB in 2.5 weeks.

I didn't see where DTAC has the same 10MPBS unlimited package., their unlimited packages were more.

Not even close to "all the plans".

There was/is not even a trace of the 4/10 Mbps unlimited plans from any of the other networks. Only AIS.

So not at all comprehensive, nor up to date.

I got a True sim, from Lazada, they sent 2 for 35 baht, anyway speed was 5-8mbps which is ok but nothing exciting especially when they suggest 300mbps is available, so I'm leaning towards AIS again when i renew

So that would be 5 to 8 Mbps for 1750 baht, for a year with Truemove H.

AIS 1800 baht for 1 Mbps or if the old promo codes still work, 1800 for unlimited 4 Mbps or 2400 for unlimited 10 Mbps.

You can find them on Amazon but mainly short expiry travel SIM's.  Best bet would be to get one sent out to you, have someone activate it in Thailand before sending it. (assuming the international post is up and running)

They don't expire if you extend their validity by topping them up.

More important is that the SIM is activated and International Roaming is enabled before it is sent out of the country.

  12. Personally, I would still try the 4/10 Mbps Unlimited codes for new SIM. At least until the end of this month.

Reason being that CAT's promo is still running until the end of this month.

For My by CAT, you need to attend their office on Pattaya Tai in order to obtain a SIM.

Then you can apply the package or ask them to do so for you.

    https://www.mybycat.com/th/PrePay.php?package=147_แพ็กเกจเสริม-my4G-เน็ตสุขใจ

You can find all the relevant codes on the other thread, linked to above.

Yep. It's what I would expect on the 1 mbps package right now. It was great for 9 months and then not so. AIS was great but when it got to 650 capped I went True. My 1 year runs out in about a month and then I will be looking.

I would test a new AIS SIM with the 4(150 baht) or 10 Mbps(200 baht) unlimited code before the end of the month, just in case they let it run unofficially, until the end of the month.

It's the new SIM monthly 10 Mbps packs that have the limited data allowance of 30GB.

Older SIM(b4 1st Feb 2019) have a different set of rules and packages.
