  1. You mentioned hunger. In PRC Starvation and hunger death in MASSES happened not that long ago, around Year 1960. Then came total disarray in PRC around Year 1970. By mid /late 1980 PRC was dirt, dirt poor. And now Life is what they are 40 years later in PRC. This had been all history. All unreal, fluke, impossible to you ? So much news about PRC in media. Whatever avoided to report, lightly reported, briefly reported, or delay reported about PRC in WESTERN world media and/or most English-language media, PRC would be pleased as those things or items are achievement. While Western world media and/or most English-language media are very much focused on PRC wrongdoings, potential issue, long term trouble...............
  2. Well Western world champions democracy. In SouthEast Asia, there is other opinion, including arguably the very best political figure in this region in modern history. Singapore Founder of the nation, former Singapore Prime Minister for 30 years, the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew had publicly talk about if democracy brings progress. Link per YOUTUBE His wording was " I have never believed democracy bring progress ..........." All the conversation in this Youtube link was in English Language. Lee Kuan Yew spoke about this subject in year 1992 and Lee sat just few feets away from then British-appointed Hong Kong Governor Christopher Patten. Lee wording was " I have never believed democracy bring progress ................"
  3. Don't know how many decades ago you want to go about. Talk about Thailand Year 1960, 1950 or ???? Well educate us then.
  4. Fair enough comment. Say the past 5 decades, which Thai Government Administrations are working very well ? Why Thailand did not turn into "The Fifth Dragon" following HK, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan ? There is of course fundamental deep down issue.
  5. Taiwan got the relative big Formosa island + few very small islands. Most don't even know such facts.
  6. Evangrande and China property market issue to cause economic disaster in 2022 bigger than the 2008 Financial crisis ? I don't think so. Evangrande and China property market issue to cause Thailand financial and economic problem ? I don't think so either.
  7. Your statement sounds right to the point about this topic while many others on this tread could not interpret and understand Thai FM Mr Don " read my lips " wording and could not read facial expression and body language. Mr. Don and PM Mr. Prayut do NOT WANT AN INVITATION and do not care to go to this "Democracy Summit". Better not be invited is what these two gents are thinking. Instead, Mr. Don talked smilingly and intrinsically laughed at the original/host of the summit.
  8. Hi Ubonjoe, thanks for the info. Currently on "O-A" Visa staying in Thailand and due for another extension in Dec 2021, so I shall be good to secure 400k-40k B health insurance one more time in Dec 2021, and cannot do same again in Dec 2022. Is that correct ? Further more, do we need Covid-19 insurance for the Visa extension ? Quotation chart from LMG Insurance showed the premium of 400k-40k B coverage Vs 3.5 million B is approx quadrable ( 4x ) jump for my age bracket. Indeed not a good way to carry on "O-A" further. Many suggest doing an "O" Visa to avoid the health insurance requirement. Have a specific question about the "O" Visa Applying for an "O" Visa in Thailand, is a 90-day out-of-the-country visa run required ? Applying for an "O" Visa in a foreign country, is a 90-day out-of-the-country visa run required ? My concern is to avoid 90 day visa run altogether. Doing one extension each year in Thailand is ideal. I am not married and using 800k deposit method at present. Thank you.
  9. You have a point, particularly related to Asian tourists travel habit. Traveling to a nearby country say within 5 hours flight time, Asians mostly take short 4-day holiday, flying out Friday morning and arriving home on Monday. In essence, The PRC and Taiwanese, Sing, Malaysians etc visit BOTH Thailand and Vietnam ( or wherever nearby ) in TWO separate trips. Not a mutually exclusive choice as the poster kept discussing. Once they have been to both ( or wherever ), repeated destination pick is based on criteria such as Nightlife, Sanuk, gambling, illicit substance and of course pricing,. Henceforth the cannisbis Weed thing may be a low profile booster for Asian market.
  10. I don't agree to all your points about infrastructure, nonetheless it is not my intention going about infrastructure build-up. I suspect one item that may incidentally tilt some balance only for Asian tourists, particularly the younger groups. A thing I dislike much, still cannisbis weed consumption in LOS may be a low profile draw card in the future. Again we are talking about Asian markets only, not Westerner tourists.
  11. Approximately 70 % of China 1.4 Billion population have had 2 doses of vaccines as of today Oct 14, 2021
  12. The Thai don't know how to earn from tourism ??? The Ladyboy Cabaret in Pattaya Alcazar/Tiffany and Phuket Simon are doing it for free just for Chinese tourists ??? ( Over 90% audience are Asians ) Every tourist spends money, one way or the other.
  13. Confusion is the Norm in Thailand. Not about this poll, but I have noticed five surveys came out since Feb 2019 ( Just before the election) and the data had been consistently had been remarkably consistent : Nobody is suitable as PM 30-40 % Payuth 17-19 % whoever was the third choice 10-14% Overall speaking, I don't think Payuth will be the PM after the next election, whether he will enter or not.
  14. " Channel 7 reported on the figures for purchase of real estate (mostly in the condo market) over the last three years. From 2018 to 2020 this comprised 34,653 units amounting to 1.4 million square meters worth 145 billion baht." Work out the average to 100,000 Baht per sq. meter. Reasonable ballpark ?
  15. The Rich from PRC buy condo elsewhere in foreign market and invest little in Bangkok or Phuket or Pattaya condo. This group set eyes on real estate in in Vancouver, London and HK ( most expensive worldwide ) ..... etc. Those Chinese buying in Thailand are more like middle class PRC.
