  1. I just had 7 implants in my front upper teeth done in the states.I personally would avoid at all costs going to Bangkok Pattaya hospital for the implants they did a front upper implant on a friends mouth that chipped in 2 & a half weeks & they told him to pony up more money for a new tooth No Guaranty whatsoever & they charged him a million baht. The U.S. was only $10,500 a tooth . The premium way to have them done is six months after they do the initial work the teeth are installed. Any quicker they do not last as long. You can read up on this I did before getting mine done & all the experts said 6 months to heal before they set the implant -s in. Bone graft is usually a good idea because your bone matter will recede over time & the last thing you want to do is cheap out on an expensive venture & have to start from scratch if it were to fail later.

I would recommend a dentist here but the ones that were good then may not be good now is why for major work I have my home country fix my teeth. At least I have a written

Guaranty when it is done & I know the dentist isn't going to be gone next year. They do tend to come & go in Pattaya.

Good luck on doing it without being put under . Mine was quite painful (cause I did 7 together) But you can get Valium from a clinic cheap 30 baht +the 100-150 for the doctor to see you to take the edge off the experience.

Wish I could give you a good referral but my dentist that I really liked changed once he got popular & charged more & got lazy. Alright for Xrays & a semi decent cleaning but I wouldn't use him for an implant.

Good luck & I would read up on your best plan of attack. Whatever you do don't choke & go for the 1 day miracle. You will have problems later. *If it needs a bone graft it takes time to heal, they cant just screw in the implant over a new graft.

So I will have to do my yearly again in march all over again.

That was my fault after I re-read your post it looked like that may be the case. I was not sure .will I have to do the yearly all over again. I just want to be legal up here.

Thanks again for the reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ????

It looks like (I just re-read your post that I only need to pay the 1900 baht again not do the full 1 year report is that correct?

Thanks again. I just don't want to blow it.

I honestly can't follow your situation - assumed it was a simple ext of stay. Seems more complicated than that? Good luck.

FWIW, passport renewals in the U.S. can take 4 - 6 weeks.  You can renew your passport anytime, even years before it expires, and think there's a grace period (5 years?) even after it expires.

Thanks. It really isn't that complicated everything is done except passport will expire before next years July 7th report. I don't think because of that it will change my date of report but I may need to pay for another extension since the new passport will not have that stamp. 2010 they just took both the expired passport & the new one ,reset the 1 year stamp date & the re-entry & put it in the new book.I did that on my 90 day report & was no charge in 2010.It certainly may have changed by now as Thailand seems to change the rules on the whim of the wind lately.

I guess it more or less is will I have to pay another 1900 baht for the re-stamp. I don't think they will make me change my yearly report date as everything will be done to their satisfaction before I leave on June 19th(like every year when I go home)

Yes, one can mail in a renewal, assuming one is eligible. Payment by local bank draft only.

And one can still apply in person. Payment with cash, credit card.

Yes, new passports are returned only by EMS.

    It's all here: https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/

Beginning 1 July 2018: All passports renewed at U.S. Embassy Bangkok will be returned to the applicant by Thai Post registered mail. For further information please select your relevant passport renewal option above

You may be eligible to renew your passport and/or change your surname on your passport by MAIL. This program is meant to save you time and travel expenses. It is easy, convenient, and secure. You can prepare your passport application package at any time and the process takes approximately two to three weeks from the date we receive your application to when you receive your new passport book by mail. If you are renewing your passport card by mail please expect six weeks to receive your replacement card.

    Benefits to applying by mail:

You do not need to travel to the Embassy and wait to be interviewed by a Consular officer.
Processing time to renew passports by mail is the same as applying in person.
You can complete your application at your home, saving you time and money.

Nice that is good to know mail a better option .Pattaya to Bangkok is kind of a pain in the butt.

Since 2013 if your passport is not valid for one year on the date you apply for an extension it will only be done to the date your passport expires. Then when you get a new passport you would have to apply for a new extension on or before the date the shortened extension expires.

Best to apply for a new passport now so that you will have it when you apply for the extension.

Another factor to consider is that many countries require at least 6 months of passport validity to enter the country.

Many countries suggest you get a new passport when your current one only has 9 months remaining on it.

I could get a new passport issued in the U.S. June 21st when I go back Since my yearly will be completed tomorrow I still hold a 1 year OA without interruptions. That should keep my yearly date July 7th since nothing changed. The passport still being valid & I do have 6 months before is what the U.S. requests to renew the passport. Doesn't immigration just migrate the 2 books to keep the 1 year stamp valid? And if I change my passport before I come back I won't have the re-entry visa or my 1 year report on my new passport. Or will I be better off waiting till Sept 19th & go up to Bangkok & apply for a new passport .That still gives me the 6 months time(more) to get a new passport issued. And then go down to immigration & have them restamp my yearly date & my used 1 time re-entry stamp(  I think this is what they did for me in 2010 when I got a new passport.

The part I am not sure on why the Visa place told me that my 1 year would now change to March. It never changed last time. I think the visa place may have confused tht it is still valid & can be renewed on time.

I hope I gave better details to get info this time.

    Thanks again

    Barry

  6. Hi,

I talked to a visa agency that told me  that since my passport expires march 29 2020  & my 1 year report date is July 7th 2019 I will have to - or my report date for my 1 year extension will be changed to March 29th. I remember doing this in 2010 & nothing changed my date was & still is July 7th for the last 15 years.

Doesn't immigration just transfer the 1 year visa date to the new passport.I will renew my passsport probably in January. I know my passport date of ending in 2030 will be the month that they send me the passport. Are there new changes I am not aware of or did I just get some misinformation.

Thanks again UbonJoe for the great info you gave me before.

    Thanks again

    Barry

  7. Hi,

I am losing my non imm type OA visa this year(due to finance issues) My yearly report is July 7th but I have a flight back to the states & have a return in September.

I have no clue what they do in this situation as 15 years on a OA visa. will they require a return back to the U.S. Or will I be able to do border runs & get my visa stamps?

Do I still get my 1000 baht to return into Thailand or will I have to get a new tourist Visa from The U. S, to get back into Thailand in September? I just did my 90 day report. Not married the gal I am with & myself decided better not to get married. How often do I have to do a Cambodia boredr run to stay here in Thailand. I return every year back to the states for 2-3 months.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want any surprises when I return in Sept.

    Thanks

    Barry

  8. Seems like common sense would tell you not to walk out where water & talcum powder is being spread copiously. I mean it is their tradition so if a foreigner or Thai for that matter doesn't want to get douched or pasted stay home very easy answer. It is kinda like going to a beer fest rock concert & getting pissed that someone sloshes some beer on your outfit. I went ot today on beach road & had a great time. But I Have lived here 11 years & know the drill .That lady is lucky it wasn't a belligerent drunk farang that took offense to her pettiness. On the upside she is real lucky that Songran is not the festival of mechanics getting squirted with 30 weight & some nice tasty 90 weight gear oil & a smear of axle grease on the ole face LOL. Sounds like she should have stayed at the HI So Spa instead.

  9. Not to mention if you are away from your house for a little bit & you have made it very difficult to get in & a thief + a 10 LB. sledge all it takes is 2-3 blows on superblock & you have a nice size hole to slip in & go shopping. When we demo'd our first house. It was a temporary structure which I thought was strong I was amazed how quickly I could knock a wall down. There is no real way to keep a Komoie out. The roof is the easiest. Unless you have gone through the trouble of installing razor wire in the attic that is a no brainer for a thief. The windows forget about it if you pin them so they can't open or lift the slider out.most are just screws into aluminum to hold the window frame in into the cement. All you can do is make it harder than your neighbors house so they go there instead. Thieves like to go where there is the least resistance. I worked installing security in Palm Springs California & one of our contracts (The Palm Springs Police Dept.)were the Palm desert municipal yard. The cameras were dead (lack of maintenance) We drove 2 jeeps in & removed the side of the gates hinges & all & drove in the lot. We loaded up (2) 55 gallon drums of gas(they were not to smart & had the electricity on) all we had to do was take an industrial size vice grips & crimp the rubber line & remove the nozzle & fill up both barrels & put the nozzle back on & reinstall the fence hinges. We got the contract & they got the gasoline back. There is always going to be a way in. The more high tech your set up is ....it is easy to shut it down & get right in. Inside security grates work pretty good here. Just make sure the welding is very strong & thick enough that it takes more time to get a bolt cutter & cut through or a hack saw. Yes our house got hit & when they caught the bastards they had a 14 volt angle grinder & just cut right through. All you can do is make it way inconvenient & the thieves will go for an easier mark. And don't hide the key somewhere. that is a recipe for disaster.

  10. I don't get this law. The only country I have ever been in where if you have your home country lic. you Can't drive without the international lic. to go with it. Indonesia & Malaysia & I have heard India a Lic. is a lic is a lic. Maybe they really need to go after the scooters that the riders do not have licenses. Most of the riders that have a large bike can obviously afford insurance & have a license. When I stayed in Jamaica they never once asked if I had a Jamaican lic. My U.S. was good enough for them . My credit card paid for liability & full coverage. I can't see what the problem is. I never cringe when I am around larger bikes. It is the Common Kazis that fire out onto the sukimvette on a scooter without a head check or looking down the road to gauge how much time it will take to safely make it across the street. Since it seems that riders with bigger bikes have far fewer wrecks maybe they should go after the Non Licensed cyclists. What a joke. Its like putting away the Glock to shoot your foot & making sure you shoot your foot with a shotgun so you blow it off entirely.

  11. Maybe it is because I buff them out twice yearly with Whiskey Cokes & red bull drinks. they always do a great job for me. But I am pretty sure they are not taking people to the back area at the shop where they store bikes that are non runners & give parts when needed. When I painted my bike I needed the bridge that went along the handlebars & they gave me one off of a 2010 till it was painted & then I returned it. Now if Miyon owns Kawi which I do doubt the repair shop is totally inferior compared to Kawi. They sold me a carb I didn't need on a bike & at Kawi they would test it first not just replace parts . They don't sell you parts to make money at Kawi They do sell parts to get business at Mityon. I have used both & there is a huge difference in Parts replacers & Technicians! Mityon may be huge in the amount of shops but their Techs can't hold a candle to Kawi or most likely Honda as well. Mityon is a Somchai enterprise at best.

  12. Boy you guys gotta have some (DELETED) eardrums My race engines I use in cars in California scream you would be crying like babies. 4 times louder than a Harley with open headers. Harleys are a little loud but when you are using bigger bikes they usually have more sound than 150's or 250's I think some of you guys are envious that you don't have a larger ride that are complaining. If I put my Lincoln horn on the bike it will be 5 times louder than any type of exhaust. some noise is for safety. My bike is so damn quiet I have scooters all the time trying to commit suicide cause they can't hear my bike & they never look or head check before drifting in my lane. This seriously is the only country I ever heard people whine about noise. It's a machine they make noise get over it. Wantan you drive a 150? (DELETED)

  13. Anthony

Try this maybe he will know

Telephone: 66-988-2123230 Country/Region: Thailand Province/State: Bangkok Cedar Panel Timber Wood For Sale
    10 Cubic Meters (Min. Order)
    Timber Type: Poplar
    Type: Solid Wood Boards
    Place of Origin: TH;24

Thanks for that tip. I wish I needed that much cedar. I love the way it smells & works great in Humidiy for storing Camera gear & clothes.!!!!!!!!!!

I will save this info for later use Maybe with enough Americans that need we can pitch in on an order some day! Best closets in the world cedar is! I would think it would be way to soft for flooring though.

  14. Pet hate of mine - loud exhausts - the bloke riding the bike thinks he's ultra cool - whereas everyone else thinks he's a 24 carat (DELETED)

just waiting LL2 to rock up with the old "loud pipes save lives" crock of........

Hate to agree butt LL2 is 100% correct a slightly louder pipe does alert other scooters you are there. My 650 Kawi stock pipe way to silent. By the way Proper what type of bike are you riding? or do you drive a car or truck & have no bike. Just asking? I ask because I have seen you on Pattaya forum but never in the bike forum since it started.

Personally I don't care for ultra loud Harleys but I do enjoy a kickass sounding throaty sound of a bike well tuned. Not a Honda 110 with the exhaust stripped out.

But I love listen to tip flight fuelly dragsters so noise not a problem for me. Since it is cheaper to get a nice 1966 Lincoln horn for my ride I will probably get one from the states from my old parts when I go home this year & install it on my ride instead of going with the 30,000 baht Acropovic full exhaust system I want.

But seriously a lot of people are numb to soft exhausts & try to drift into your bike instead of hearing the engine & knowing your there. & I know LL2 he isn't talking about an unbaffled straight pipe on a pan head or shovelhead Harley so I think you may have read into the conversation more than was written. His bike isn't loud at all!

  15. Kawasaki is way more knowledgeable than Mityon. Every one of the techs are not just backyard mechanics but had to pass rigorous testing & then in the field testing. Kawasaki isn't shy about cutting the people that are not only polite to customers but know what they are doing. I was sad to hear the OP had a problem with Kawi. The Kawi shop has 4 sizes of torque wrenches & compared to when I was running an auto shop they use all the same western technicians computerized equipment & everything. But the Upside is in the U.S. I couldn't let people in the repair part of the shop for Insurance reasons......Unless they told me they wanted to learn & I would take them back more or less as an employee so I could show them how & what to do if they desired. I enjoy being a mentor as much as I love to learn new tricks! It is sad that they didn't go the extra yard with the OP. I even help Kawi sometimes even if is just helping jockeying the bikes around. That helps a lot being liked & respected as not only a Tech myself but as a friendly helpful person in general. 2 times ago I came in for a part no longer stocked that a scooter shop left off(cause they said it wasn't useful or needed-Thank you very much bah.gif) And he took of a brake bar & ground it down to a perfect match for me free of charge & service charge for 20 minutes worth of fabricating me the part. Being nice sometimes has its perks! Mityon I doubt they are as strict. I watched them do some horrible service work on a rebuild on a 750 Honda engine & they had extra spacers & washers they left out of the rebuild. Bet the owner was miffed when it seized up. Near as I can tell you always wind up using all the parts & you can't omit parts in critical areas especially in an engine rebuild. And seriously they are going to be cheaper & do a better job cause the Kawi boys all love their jobs & it does not matter who services it they aren't drinking on the job or from what I can tell they are not hungover when working. They probably make as much on pooled tips as they do on their Paychecks.

  16. If you or someone else is sweating in the new line break the line apart & put white bread in & reconnect 7 sweat it together the bread sucks up all the moisture & then sweat in back of the joints don't heat the ends of pipe the solder will flow into the seams. Very old trick first i learned doing solder work on copper. Works every time & the bread will just flow out when you test the system.but if you can't find a plumber to sweat it an air con man does copper all the time as mentioned. And they are all readily available. A plumber out here may just try to stuff elephant glue around the joint & that wont work at all.
