  2. Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath went to investigate after a mother posted CCTV of dramatic moments when her son was choking to death after eating an "Eyeball Jelly" sweet. These are large candies of bloodshot eyes very popular with children. Fang Wipha said on Facebook that she was in a panic and never thought this would happen to her and her four year old son who turned green before the sweet went down. Wipha Phanuroj, 31, in Chainat central Thailand, said that she had bought the jelly after her son pestered her to buy it. He was only saved by the quick actions of her elder brother and husband who had seen videos about what to do when people choke on food. She called on all people to educate themselves about ways to help people with things stuck in their throats and parents to monitor their children carefully. Lest they lose their little ones. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-08 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 4. Picture: Sanook Thai netizens were commenting in droves after a foreigner had an unusual request for a tattoo. The "Venezuelan" - according to a post that went viral on Titinan Jantankpol who runs the Door Dang shop - apparently wanted the message as a keepsake to remember Thailand. It read: Pokati Phu Tai Pen Khon Chorp Hee The last word is a vulgar word omitted from the Sanook report - and many others - that means a woman's sexual organ. The whole sentence might mean: Usually the dead person likes..... Netizens were having a field day wondering if the recipient knew the meaning. While many didn't really have a clue if there was a deeper meaning. Google translate - notoriously inaccurate - translates it as "Normally the deceased is a sucker". Sanook chose to focus on the comments of people; many were women who wanted the camera to pan right to get a better view of the recipient's "package". The images were shared 1,800 times in 24 hours according to an online post. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-08 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. They said fake websites have been created to invite people to float krathong on-line. Tonight marks the full-moon day of the 12th lunar month during which Thais celebrate the Loy Krathong Festival by floating vessels known as krathong which contains flowers, candles and incense sticks in rivers or canals. In recent years, authorities have encouraged Thais to celebrate the occasion on-line instead to reduce water pollution. 7. Abortion is now legal, but why is it so difficult to get one in Thailand? Although Thai law was changed last year to allow the termination of a pregnancy up to 12 weeks and again this year with some conditions to up to 20 weeks, it remains difficult for women in Thailand to get a free and safe abortion. 8. Although Thai law was changed last year to allow the termination of a pregnancy up to 12 weeks and again this year with some conditions to up to 20 weeks, it remains difficult for women in Thailand to get a free and safe abortion. “If you think abortion services have become available for all pregnant women who want to exercise their right to a legal abortion, you are wrong,” Tamtang Group’s founder and coordinator Supecha Baotip said. Her group has long campaigned for women’s right to safe abortions but despite finally seeing legalization in February 2021, access to abortion services is still very limited. Only about 100 medical facilities offer safe abortion under the law, according to Tamtang Group’s data. However, most of them are private clinics. In Bangkok, not a single state hospital offers the service, meaning abortion is out of reach for most Thais in the capital. “Yet, ironically, Bangkok has the biggest number of unwanted pregnancies judging by calls to counsellors,” Supecha said. “The closest state hospital we can recommend is in Singburi province.” Full story: https://www.thaipbsworld.com/abortion-is-now-legal-but-why-is-it-so-difficult-to-get-one-in-thailand/ -- © Copyright Thai PBS 2022-11-08 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 10. Opinion – By Thanaphum Charoensombatpanich Today the much-hyped plans of allowing foreigners to be able to buy up to 1 rai of land or about 0.16 hectares of land that was approved on October 25th by the Cabinet of 2014 coup leader Prayut Chan-o-cha. The decision to scrap the plans just 2-weeks since it was approved and made headlines around the world, comes as Thais have been labelling the scheme as ‘selling the country’ to foreigners. The scheme that was put in place was for ‘wealthy’ investors to invest a minimum of 40 million Baht for a minimum of 3-years. These people also need to be in a category of either being wealthy global citizen, wealthy pensioner or those who want to work from Thailand and/or are highly skilled professionals or specialists. They managed to chat with their parents who went to local officials who contacted Paveena who runs a foundation that helps children and women. Two are from Kalasin, four from Khon Kaen and two from Nong Bualamphu, all north eastern Thai provinces. 22. by Namo Vananupong BANGKOK (NNT) - Thai-Saudi diplomatic, trade, and investment relations have been growing rapidly in recent months. To add momentum to this growth, the Thai-Saudi Investment Forum was organized in Bangkok. Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai and Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih presided over the opening of the investment forum. Investment strategies, private sector trade, investment promotion, and incentives in support of Thai-Saudi investment were presented. A stage was also provided for businesspersons from Thailand and Saudi Arabia to conduct negotiations on joint investments. A total of 8 trade and investment agreements were signed at the event. These pertain to the food processing, construction, and food and beverage businesses. About 500 pairs of Thai and Saudi businesses were matched. Some 30 billion baht of new trade value is expected to be created as a result. Bilateral investment is expected to double to 10 billion baht within the next year because of developments at the forum. The forum is considered an illustration of Thailand’s readiness to host the APEC Leaders’ Meeting later this month. Thailand is also set to soon welcome Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the crown prince and prime minister of Saudi Arabia, on an official visit. The trip is expected to further bolster Thai-Saudi relations. 24. PM wants to see safe Loy Krathong celebrations by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister has asked organizers of Loy Krathong events to ensure the safety of event participants, in wake of the Halloween crowd crush in Seoul, South Korea. Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha ordered related agencies to inspect the structural integrity of piers and pontoons where Loy Krathong events will be taking place, and to appropriately warn eventgoers about any potential risks. Event organizers should have in place staff members on-site to assist the general public and provide help in case of accidents. Many provinces have banned the use of fireworks and firecrackers at Loy Krathong events this year for safety reasons. The Prime Minister asked everyone to strictly comply with these regulations, which include the ban on sky lanterns, rockets, and fireworks in areas near airports. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said it will be deploying city hall staff at piers to ensure safety and assist the general public. For safety reasons, the maximum capacity of people on each pontoon will be limited to 1 person per 1 square meter. The city will patrol the Chao Phraya River to ensure public safety throughout the festival. It encourages the general public to report cases of accidents or request emergency assistance by calling the 199 or 1555 hotlines, both available 24 hours a day.
