Daily News Thai Caption: (The spirit) can't go anywhere yet Daily News reported from Uthai Sawan following the massacre there last week. They interviewed a local woman who claimed that the spirit of the man responsible for the murder of three dozen people, many of them little children, was wandering the area with nowhere to go. Suwan Tonsomsen, 53, a female neighbor of the ex-cop Panya Khamrap who committed the atrocity said that she had known him since he was little and had helped him during the dramas of childhood. All that changed when he got mixed up in drugs and she ceased contact. She wasn't home on the day of the massacre but related how Panya had arrived and tried to set fire to their house and vehicle by lighting shoes. Picture: Daily News Her husband and two handicapped relatives had managed to get away then returned to put out the fire. They called police but they were not in time to stop what happened next. Panya shot his wife and child dead then took his own life. As no one had performed a ceremony to help the spirits of the deceased move on she employed the services of a monk and did it herself finishing at 8pm. Then all the dogs in the area started barking. Then, she claimed, the lights in Panya's house went on and off two or three times. Both herself and her relatives then saw the spirit of Panya wandering around his house as though he wanted to cut the grass. Doubting what she saw she said that the monk at the ceremony confirmed that it was his spirit. The next day she asked Panya's step-father about what they saw and he confirmed that no one was allowed in the home that had been sealed off by police. She said that this really put the hair up on the back of her neck. She said: "The spirit had nowhere to go and has been wandering in the area for a long time". Ten other people saw the spirit, she claimed. She also claimed that some people had heard howling sounds coming from Panya's house. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-11 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Daily News Thai Caption: Praise for doing well The Thai police have had some pretty bad press recently so it was no surprise that their spokesman wanted to celebrate a good thing. This was the actions of two highway cops who found a young boy by the side of the road in Prachinburi who had somehow been forgotten by his ten wheel truck driving dad. The boy was in tears but was soon reunited with his father in what spokesman Pol Maj-Gen Achayon Kraithong described as "praiseworthy and speedy actions" of members of the force in "helping our Thai brothers and sisters in distress" without thinking about personal gain. Picture: Daily News The men that had been praised by the public after a clip emerged were Pol Lt Bancha Tunmee and Pol Sen Sgt Maj Sanya Khanto of the Na Dee highway police. RTP chief Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat was pictured congratulating the men with certificates and money, reported Daily News. It was part of the "Policemen Doing Good" (tamruat tham dee) program. The good news story was a change from many recent events when the Thai police did not do quite so well, notes ASEAN NOW. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-11 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Theeraphon Raksamerwong went to the house himself opposite a branch of the BAAC bank. There were plenty of members of the public gawking. Theeraphon used his bare hands to extricate the 3.5 meter long python though it was tricky as the serpent was not going quietly. Picture: Siam Rath Malai, 60, the owner of the property that she rents out believed that the appearance of the snake was highly auspicious coming on the holy day that marked the end of Buddhist Lent. She and her neighbors plan to play the lottery in the next draw using the number of the house and the area to get the right number. The house number was 30 in Moo 4. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-11 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. At the Wat Singh intersection around 8pm yesterday they found a Vigo that was in the process of turning right with damage to the left rear. A Fino motorcycle was overturned with damage to the front. A man called View, 52, had serious head injuries and was very drunk. Picture: Siam Rath He didn't want hospital treatment but was tied to a stretcher and taken to hospital all the same. Thanasit, 30, the pick-up driver said he had slowed and was turning right when the motorcycle went into the back of him. At first it appeared that the motorcyclist was unconscious but as rescue services arrived he recovered his senses though he refused help. Police are waiting for the motorcyclist to recover sufficiently before prosecuting the case. Siam Rath said in their headline that the motorcyclist had been drinking to celebrate the end of Buddhist Lent without offering any evidence that that was the case. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-11 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Daily News Thai Caption: Fears of long term flooding It has been a year in which the Thai capital Bangkok has been battered by rain and flooding continually for months. Now residents in the city are being told by analysts and experts on climate change that the situation could get even worse before it gets better. Daily News reported on the prospects of long term flooding and even heavier rain than previously experienced so far this monsoon season. Associate professor Dr Seri Suphathit, director of the center for climate change and disaster at Rangsit University said that many areas of Thailand had experienced worse flooding than in 2011. That was the year of the so-called Great Flood that devastated areas surrounding Bangkok and many outer suburbs of the metropolitan area. Dr Seri expected Bangkok to experience more long term flooding and even worse rainfall to the tune of 50-70%. Dr Wattana Kanbua, the director of the meterological division said there were fears of another major storm in Thailand in what remains of October though this may be mitigated by cooler weather conditions emanating from mainland China. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-11 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Full story:https://aseannow.com/topic/1274385-mystery-murder-of-young-man-just-back-from-germany-he-left-birthday-party-and-was-found-dead-and-burnt-in-school/ -
A baffling murder has shocked relatives in Buriram in north eastern Thailand and created fear in a village. A young man just back from Germany the night before walked out of a birthday party for his wife before he was found dead and burnt at a school nearby that he attended as a child. Police said they do not yet have a clear picture of what happened or a motive for the murder reported Thai Rath.. At 8.30 pm last night Pol Lt-Col Sakonnat Pattathesa of the Prakhonchai police received word from the janitor of Ban Salaengthon school that he had found a body behind the school. Dead at the scene was 23 year old Thanathat Jankae whose forehead had been smashed in with a blunt object. His shirt and pants were almost burnt off. He was lying face down. His shoes were by the body along with a lighter. There was evidence of gasoline and candle wax. His sky blue bag was on a metal grate in an area for recycling plastic bottles. Inside was a brown wallet containing 280 baht, a phone and two packets of cigarettes. Villagers and relatives expressed their fear and shock at the murder. The school is closed for a break between semesters. CCTV showed the victim passing by a grocer's next to his house at 6.55pm before he disappeared into the darkness. No one saw him after that. Banyat Wonma, the janitor, said he found the body at 8.30 pm after seeing flames and smelling burning behind the school when he arrived for his shift. Yuphaporn or "Koi", 22, the victim's wife said that he had just returned with his family from Germany at 11 pm on Sunday night. The family were celebrating her birthday on Monday evening. About ten family members were present in the house for the party that started at 5 pm. After 6pm Thanathat went out seemingly to buy something. When he didn't return half an our later they looked at the CCTV from the grocer's. She said her husband was a quiet guy who spoke little. Suwan, Thanathat's uncle, said that he considered the victim as a son as he raised him since he was little. His mother had taken him to live in Germany and had just got back. He said that the victim went to that school as a child and called on the police to solve the mysterious crime quickly. Local and provincial police were unable to say yet whether the motive was theft or some personal conflict. But everyone said that Thanathat had no enemies and was in no trouble. Investigations continue. ASEAN NOW will attempt to follow up on this mystery. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-11 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
