The company has already brought around 1.000 berry pickers from Thailand to Finland this year. According to Finnish broadcasting media Yle, The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Finnish Border Guard confirmed the criminal investigation on Monday. Jukka Kristo organized the Thai berry pickers’ transit to Finland from Thailand, and it has been suspected that the workers “were in a dependency on their employer” and housed in poor conditions. It revealed that in the year of the so-called Great Flood that hit Thailand in 2011 there was nearly 16 million rai of flooded land reported Siam Rath. This compared with 5.6 million rai flooded last September and 5.3 million rai this September. Siam Rath noted that things were three times worse 11 years ago when much of the area surrounding Bangkok was under water for months. Four school pupils were on their way home and decided to have a swim in the canal that is 4 meters wide and six meters deep. Poh Teck Tung rescue took half an hour to find "Nam", a M3 pupil aged 14, who had disappeared in front of three other friends. Nam or Sittiphat had said he would jump one last time but he suffered an attack of cramp, reported Daily News. His friends tried to save him by holding out a long stick but were unable to do so. The victim was fished out still weraring his red PE kit and black shorts. by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - As floods sweep through many areas of Thailand, the commerce ministry is closely following developments of water situations in each locality. Stores and wholesalers are encouraged to keep adequate stocks of items to prevent shortages in areas hit by a flood. Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit has expressed concerns about the situation of floods at present. He has ordered the Ministry of Commerce’s Office of the Permanent Secretary to ask provincial commerce offices to closely follow the water situation in various localities. The Department of Internal Trade has also been told to inspect products distribution centers nationwide. Retailers and wholesalers are to be asked to stock up adequate amounts of merchandise, especially in areas that have been affected by floods. This is to ensure that flood victims do not experience further troubles from product shortages. Ensuring adequate stocks of items will also make it convenient for responders and for aid to be delivered. According to Minister Jurin, provincial commerce offices are asked to guard against opportunistic price raises or profiteering. He said such acts are illegal and will exacerbate the plights of flood victims. The commerce minister said his ministry will work rigorously to prevent shortage of goods and opportunistic price raises. Confirmation of whether or not a Hua Hin would be included in the project has been somewhat of a stop start process. Recent years have seen several new high speed rail development projects proposed throughout Thailand, some of which have included Hua Hin as a potential destination. However, up until recently, any concrete plans had remained firmly on the drawing board. Siam Rath reported from the southern Thai tourist island of Koh Samui where Lt-Gen Surachate Hakpan was called in to solve a crime of robbery with menaces against a Russian national. The media referred to the poster boy cop of the RTP as "Deputy Joke" a nod to his new role. He is normally known as Big Joke. He recounted how a Russian man called Eugenii had gone to meet his wife in a coffee shop in Taling Ngam sub-district on 15th September. He had been confronted by five foreign men who demanded he pay them $US3 million. He was forced to transfer money using his phone in the sum of US $50,000 from a Bitcoin account. Four of the men left but one stayed behind to threaten the victim that they wanted more. A Kazakhstan fixer alled Andrey, named as 37 and 56 in the Siam Rath story, was arrested by Lumpini police and Chonburi Immigration and taken back to Samui. Warrants were issued for five other men including two Kazakh nationals, two Germans and a Russian who was a driver in the brazen robbery. Most of these seemed to have arrived in Thailand with the express intention of committing the robbery.
