77kaoded Thai Caption: A "cruel" model for society A father who went online to show the horrendous injuries his son suffered at school at the hands of a teacher decided to stop short of reporting the incident to police. His own P5 son told him that the teacher was close to retirement and he admitted that he had submitted three sets of homework late. Reporters at the school in Nakhon Nayok found a deputy director and a head of P5 - but no teacher or director. The class teacher has reportedly admitted what he has done. He allegedly said to the 10 year old pupil that if he told his parents to tell them the full story about not submitting his homework, reported 77kaoded. The parent went with a measured approach to the issue on Facebook saying he believed in his son facing punishment. But many netizens agreed that even in post corporal punishment Thailand this was well over the top. Others said they had been hit by the teacher concerned at the well known Muang district school. Now that a police report is off the cards the father wants the school to discipline the errant teacher. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. by Namo Vananupong BANGKOK (NNT) - With COVID-19’s status relegated to a communicable disease under surveillance, figures on Covid hospital admissions will now be reported weekly instead of daily. Meanwhile, the prime minister has thanked those who worked for the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) for their efforts in handling the Covid crisis. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed his thanks to those who were part of and those whose work related to the CCSA. The message was posted on the prime minister’s Facebook page. Gen. Prayut thanked the relevant personnel for their work and sacrifices made during the CCSA’s two-and-a-half years of operation. He acknowledged their dedication had enabled the Thai public to navigate the Covid crisis. The CCSA was officially closed on September 30 and its responsibilities were handed over to the Ministry of Public Health. The Department of Disease Control’s report on the number of admitted Covid patients will be issued weekly instead of daily starting today (3 October). Dr. Yong Poovorawan, a virology expert at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine, wrote on his Facebook that COVID-19 outbreaks will now resemble those of flu. He said respiratory diseases and flu outbreaks are most significant in the rainy season or from June to September. Outbreaks become less prevalent after September before gaining traction once more from January to March. Dr. Yong wrote that booster vaccine doses for vulnerable individuals should be administered before the rainy season begins. Individuals at risk of severe symptoms who become infected should receive antivirals as soon as possible. He indicated that receiving antivirals immediately after a positive ATK test result is generated would reduce sick days by 3. The expert virologist added that people should still take precautionary measures to reduce the spread of Covid. Dr. Yong said he believes the Covid situation will continually improve as most people will have immunity and medications will be improved. Agriculture Dept pushes forward greenhouse gas reduction, cannabis development agreements by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - Celebrating its 50th anniversary today, the Department of Agriculture signed agreements on greenhouse gas reduction and cannabis development for medical and commercial applications. by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - Celebrating its 50th anniversary today, the Department of Agriculture signed agreements on greenhouse gas reduction and cannabis development for medical and commercial applications. The two agreements were signed in a ceremony witnessed by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Mananya Thaiset. The first agreement, signed with Chulalongkorn University, is the development of plants in the cannabis family for the purposes of medical and commercial applications. This project focuses on the research, development, and testing of Petchompoo 1-5 cannabis strains that are rich in THC content, making them more suitable for THC extract and medical applications. This partnership caters to the development of cultivation technology and pest control using biopesticides, to ensure that the harvest will be suitable for medical applications. The Department of Agriculture operates a One Stop Service Center for cannabis, hemp, and kratom management at its headquarters, as well as the 1174 hotline where inquiries regarding the said herbs can be raised. The department also signed an agreement with the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) to help raise awareness of greenhouse gas emissions. This cooperation will allow both agencies to work on greenhouse reduction campaigns, improvement to the research and data collection processes, and carbon footprint assessments. The two agencies will be working together to pilot the carbon credit certification scheme, starting with fruit farms, palm plantations, and rubber plantations. Thailand's multi talented health minister sees clear skies but choppy political waters below Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath featured the multiple talents of the Thai deputy prime minister and health minister Anutin Charvirakul. Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath featured the multiple talents of the Thai deputy prime minister and health minister Anutin Charvirakul. Now he can add piloting to politicking. The instantly recognisable man whose face was a daily staple during the pandemic has qualified as a pilot. He has two private jets - one a Cirus SR22T that he bought in 2013 for 22.7 million baht and a TMB 930SOCATA that he acquired in 2016 for 139.23 million baht, according to assets' declarations. Anutin has flown provincially and regionally to Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. Picture: Thai Rath He was with some rich buddies in Khao Yai about 11 years ago. It was a place he drove to but one of his friends arrived by plane and within five years Anutin had his licence. He cited as a time when he carried a heart for transplant as one of his proudest hours in the cockpit. His record flight with a copilot was to England from Don Muang. This included fuel stops in Bangladesh, Dubai, Cyprus, Monaco and France. Picture: Thai Rath Anutin is the son of businessman and politician Chawarat Charnvirakul who served under many governments starting with that of Chaowarit Yongchaiyudh in the mid nineties. Anutin's father was involved in real estate development and his son is listed as a billionaire in his own right. Thai Rath charted some of the DPM's political dramas over the choppy last five years. The head of the Bhumjaithai party will be hoping for clear skies ahead as he continues to fly into uncertain political times. He has made it plain that he'd like to be Thailand's next PM. With strong political connections adding to a will to win who is to say that Anutin will not be landing at an airport near you as PM. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
