77kaoded Thai Caption: Zzzz - nearly hits a lamppost 77kaoded reported from an accident in Ao Nang, Krabi in southern Thailand when a male guide in a car drove into an area by a house. It happened at house number 308 in Moo 6 in Ao Nang sub-district where ten people came out to see the aftermath by a mango tree. Thanakorn, 28, had been behind the wheel and had a lucky escape suffering no injuries at all though he was taken to hospital just to be sure. Picture: 77koded There was damage to his Yaris and one sapling had been flattened and a wall damaged. No one was hurt at the house either. May said she was talking with a friend at the house when she heard a noise and was shocked. They would normally have been chatting outside. She said it was lucky the driver didn't hit a power pole or the mango tree. It is thought that lap nai or a microsleep was responsible for the driver losing control. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-07-18 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Picture: Siam Rath Siam Rath went to Pattaya beach to investigate after a clip appeared on social media. The one minute clip that appeared to have come from an area near Soi 16 featured a man in a hat getting attention from two men "below the waistband" and a lady supplying drinks. There was a suggestion that some penile enlargement was afoot. Speedboat operator Watcharapong, 39, wondered about the location and whether the clip was old or new, but was sure such things could only damage the name of Pattaya. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-07-18 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Picture: Siam Rath The deputy of the tourist police in his capacity as spokesman, Pol Maj-Gen Apichart Suribunya told the press how his men at Suvarnabhumi Airport had swung into action to held some Saudi tourists. It was a far cry from the days when Thailand's name was mud with Saudis following the infamous "Blue Diamond" affair. Now it was all smiles and thumbs up from tourist Algarz Rehub Saleh A and her friends who were reunited with their bag containing important items. Picture: Siam Rath It had gone missing in a taxi ride between the airport and the tourists' hotel and the police managed to trace the driver. Ms Algarz said of the authorities: "The staff is very kind and professional - we are very thankful - Bangkok is very lucky to have such an incredible and friendly team we will visit again because of them. "They are the BEST". Apichart called the feedback most welcome and wonderful and stressed his commitment and that of the tourist police to welcome tourists from all over the world, reported Siam Rath. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-07-18 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Picture: Thai Rath The Liverpool vis Manchester Utd Century Cup friendly match that was played at the Rajamangala national stadium last week was plagued with problems from start to finish. Now, even after United despatched Liverpool 4-0 on Tuesday the controversies continue. Organizers were planning on selling the fancy seats used by the players and staff of both teams to make more money, reported Thai Rath. The asking price was going to be 100,000 baht each for where Mo Salah's bottom might have rested. Instead a naughty man and woman arrived with a Toyotal pick-up on Friday and carter off four of the seats. They were caught on CCTV and this soon led to the man who blamed the woman for hiring him to take the seats to a condominium. She then got him to do some more legitimate removals. Hua Mark police had been informed of the theft on Saturday by organizer Winit Lertrattanachai who filed a complaint. Now an unnamed man and woman are helping them with their inquiries. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-07-18 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Picture: Thai Rath It has been a bad few days for the Thai army. At the end of last week Lt-General Kriangkrai Srirak was injured along with six other personnel when his Blackhawk helicopter made a crash landing in a rubber fireld in Songkhla. The general had been flying to Pattani when the helicoper developed trouble and crashed through trees. Then at the weekend the stricken helicopter was loaded onto an army trailer for a trip to the central region and repairs at an army facility in Lopburi. It didn't get very far before there was a collision with another trailer on the Hat Yai to Phatthalung Road and it hit a tree. Fortunately there were no more injuries but Thai Rath reported large traffic jams caused by the accident in which Khao Chaison police attended. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-07-18 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Russian oligarch arrives in Samui on 3.9 billion baht super yacht - Thai media laps it up but eyebrows raised elsewhere Daily News Thai Cap: Cruise trip to Samui..... Daily News Thai Cap: Cruise trip to Samui..... Thai media Daily News were gushing about the visit of a Russian oligarch's super yacht to Koh Samui, southern Thailand. But in the rest of the world there was consternation about welcoming wealthy Russians amid world sanctions and the ongoing war in Ukraine. All that was put aside for the Thai media who said that people in Samui and tourists were laughing (in a happy way) when they saw the super yacht Cloudbreak moored off Chaweng Beach. It cost 3.9 billion baht and belongs to Alexander Svetakov, 54, a Russian property developer who runs Absolut Investments Group. There were 13 passengers aboard and 6 crew and a helicopter on deck. There are six cabins including the master suite. Picture: Daily News It had been to Koh Phangan after arriving from Singapore at the start of July. It is 2,293 tons, 72 meters long and can cruise at 15 knots. Mr Svetakov has 1.82 billion pounds sterling according to Forbes and owns two planes. Weerayuth Chumphimon a van driver cooed about how big and beautiful the yacht was even at a distance as his passengers took holiday snaps. He said the tourism economy was picking up again and this was just another example. Others abroad were less amused to what they saw as the Thai authorities, and Thai media including English print media in Bangkok, cozy up to Russia's wealthy during the war in Europe. One leading critic said that Svetakov had "evaded sanctions" and was an "unwelcome supporter of the Putin regime". It seems money talks when it comes to getting Thailand's tourism going again post pandemic, notes ASEAN NOW. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-07-18 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
