The accident happened at about 5.30 pm yesterday and trash intended for a landfill was spread over the footpath. No one was injured. They were named only as Meo and Bombay. They were both supposed to be under the care of grandparents. The lake was an old one but was being dredged to make it deeper by a state authority. Sanong, 57, a rescuer, said he heard screams for help from a backhoe driver and saw two boys aged 5 and 6 by the water's edge. They pointed to where their elder sibling had been playing in the water. They managed to find the boys but they were already dead. It appeared they thought that the water was shallow like before. He thought they had complied with his warning until he turned to see that only two were left. Meo's mother said that she and her husband worked in another province and left their children with a grandparent and there had never been a problem. Meo was their great hope for the future as he was very good at school and looked after his younger siblings and his grandmother admirably. But they didn't know why he was swimming as he didn't like to do that. Dramatic pictures published by Siam Rath showed the rescue efforts of two teams in the north east of Thailand after a young man aged about 17 was washed away at a waterfall. A group of young people had gone to the Keng Pho waterfall in Mukdahan on Saturday. But when heavy rains hit the area was inundated with water and the young man was swept away. His foot got entrapped in rocks and he was unable to free himself. The rescue operation was difficult and lasted from 4.30 pm until it was successfuilly concluded at 7.20pm. A green Isuzu pick-up collided with a Ford. Two people in the Isuzu died - they were named as Jakkrapong, 60 and Chiang, a Cambodian. Three people in the Isuzu were taken to hospital. One is out of danger, two remain critical. They were all named as Cambodian nationals Teuang, 52, and Wenna, 22 and the driver of the vehicle, a Thai called Saichon. No one inside the Ford was hurt. The Isuzu was propelled into a central reservation lamppost and was completely destroyed. At least some of the men were in police uniform. It happened at the Booze pub in Huay Khwang. Among those allegedly involved are Thanit Na Phatthalung, 26, a man known as Hiso Talay and Petch Bunwong, 44, a CEO of PRX Metaverse a software developer. Earlier reports suggested it was over an online gambling debt. Last night both men were interrogated after they were arrested on warrants for theft and extortion with menaces. Thanit's lawyer said his client was not guilty though he admitted that he had a business dispute with the Singaporean who owed Thanit about a million baht. There was no truth to the rumor that he had the Porsche - he just had a computer notebook belonging to the victim and would return it. He had no need of money as he was rich already. The lawyer said that he was considering counter suing the Singaporean on behalf of his client. Siam Rath reported on a con being performed on unsuspecting foreign tourists in the Khao San Road area of Bangkok. They were contacted by a man they called "Mr Dam" who told them that after the pubs and bars were shut and he was on his way back to his room he found a wallet by a lamppost. It contained 1,000 baht. With it being late he decided to hold onto the purse and hand it in in the morning. But when he did and the woman who owned it showed up she said that the purse had contained 6-7,000 baht. Chana Songkram police advised the tourist that he would have to pay the 6,000 baht difference to the woman to avoid being prosecuted for theft. He called a Thai friend but was unable to get out of the scam. He said he had had no help from the police at all who saw the woman's side. Traders in the area confirmed to Siam Rath that this was a con that was going on in the street to rip off foreign tourists. Mr Dam said that he had no intention of stealing money - he had simply been conned. The media called on RTP chief Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk and met chief Lt-Gen Samran Nuanma to act to avoid Thailand's tourism image being tarnished. By Nop Meechukhun Banglamung – Two local residents were shot, one including a 7-year-old child, when two groups of teenagers were reportedly fighting and began firing gunshots at one another in front of a garage in the Banglamung District Saturday evening, July 9th. Banglamung police arrived at the scene at a garage in the Nong Prue Subdistrict after being alerted to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, 7-year-old Nong Moodaeng (Nickname, real name withheld) was slightly injured from a bullet that grazed his neck while his father Panupong was injured from a bullet wound to his right shoulder. Both of them were later transferred to the nearest hospital for a checkup. They had been bystanders to the altercation and not directly involved, according to police.
