Daily News Thai Caption: Farewell Shabu.... Daily News reported that comment was rife online after a post about what happened to a diner at a leading Shabu restaurant. It was not named of course, a symptom of defamation laws in Thailand. The diner said they had gone to the machine for some Mocca and noticed cockroach legs in their drink. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe The staff were bemused not offering so much as an apology and took the glasses away. Seeing other people use the machine the diner went back for a milk tea - there were even more insect legs in that one! Picture: Daily News Complaints to the admin page of the restaurant got an apology but little else. They said that the restaurant had just sprayed and the insects probably got inside the machine as they tried to get away from the spray. No compensation was offered. No check on the machine was in the offing. They just said that the staff were new and would be better trained to handle customer complaints in the future. A small group of people, with the support of some lawyers, demonstrated in front of Nonthaburi police station yesterday (Sunday) to demand, among other things, the replacement of the current team of police investigating the drowning of TV actress Nida Patcharaveerapong, aka “Tangmo”. The demonstrators want the team from the Nonthaburi either to be replaced by officers from the Department of Special Investigation or by a new team, with the media taking part as observers, amid a media circus surrounding the case, the investigation of which has seen little progress. The latest forensics update indicates that the cuts on the actress’s thigh, believed to have been caused by the boat’s propeller, were not the cause of her death, because no major blood vessel was damaged. There were bloodsatins on the left front wheel of the van. No one had seen what happened. Staff were packing the stage away. But "Ek" said that the driver of the van had said: "I don't know what I just went over". 77kaoded Thai Caption: Crazy love - cruel shooting A foreigner staying with his Thai wife on a yearly visit to Buriram got a rude awakening about gun crazy, infidelity rampant Thailand at the weekend. Kanya, 37, and the foreigner (whose nationality was not given) were relaxing at home when Phitphirun, 45, arrived on a motorcycle. A couple of years ago she had struck up a relationship with him. Picture: 77kaoded Two months earlier Kanya had told him in Line messages that it was over between them as he wouldn't change his bad behavior. It was 2.30 pm. Phitphirun, a forestry official at the nearby Dong Yai nature reserve, said: "Ok, you're splitting up with me to shack up with someone else, right? Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe "Ok you all die". She didn't believe his boast as he drove off. But a short while later he returned in a forestry department pick-up and was holding a shotgun. He vaulted the wall and started firing. Picture: 77kaoded Kanya and her foreign husband managed to flee but inside the house were her sons and her bed ridden mother. She believed her 20 year old son from a previous relationship, Natthapong, came out of a room to confront Phitphirun. He was shot dead in the face. Pakham police at the bungalow, that is also used as a shop, found a Toyota with multiple bullet holes and evidence of many other shots fired inside the house in Hoothamnop sub-district. The shooter fled the scene and said he would surrender but had not done so yet. His boss at the nature reserve Somsuan Raksat went to the police to file charges of theft of a civil service gun and vehicle. He said that the suspect was familiar with that weapon and had stolen the keys to the vehicle. Meanwhile the police have applied for a warrant on charges of murder, attempted murder, weapons offences and trespass. More on this as we hear of it. Industry Ministry Steps Up COVID Prevention at Factories Paul Rujopakarn BANGKOK (NNT) - The Minister of Industry has instructed officials to step up efforts to prevent COVID-19 clusters at factories and production plants. Paul Rujopakarn BANGKOK (NNT) - The Minister of Industry has instructed officials to step up efforts to prevent COVID-19 clusters at factories and production plants. Industry Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit said his ministry recognizes the importance of implementing and enforcing disease prevention measures. He added that previous policies, such as the “bubble and seal” approach, were aimed at assisting factory operators. Several plants were forced to suspend operations during the peak of the pandemic after reporting infection clusters, significantly impacting the Thai economy. Keep up to date with all things Thailand - Join our daily ASEAN NOW Thailand Newsletter - Click to subscribe From the beginning of this year to March 6, COVID clusters were reported at 239 factories and involved nearly 3,300 people. About 2,300 of those affected were from factories participating in the “bubble and seal” program. According to the Suriya, the ministry is now urging its units and factory operators to ramp up disease prevention measures. He recommends that operators strictly follow COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration. Under these protocols, infected employees will be sent to field hospitals for treatment. Workers who test negative will meanwhile be housed at separate accommodations to avoid potentially infecting other groups. They will also not be permitted to participate in any cross-group work or travel beyond their workplaces and provided accommodations.
