The case hit the headlines when Ms Hummels, wife of the German footballer who was also the center-back of the Borussia Dortmund football club, told Germany’s well-known media Bild that she had been assaulted and robbed of her mobile phone during her visit to the country for her TV show production. She gave the interview after revealing the incident via her Instagram account. Mr Phiphat said he would contact Ms Hummels to apologize in person to her and he ordered tourist police to arrest the culprit as soon as possible for the confidence of tourists in Thailand. A man dressed in black wearing a face mask had gone into the shop to say that he wanted to buy the gold for relatives and siblings. As it was such a large sum of money he said the payment would be made by bank transfer to the shop's account. Picture: Daily News The gold was gathered together and when the owner called the bank they were told that the money had been transferred and the man was allowed to leave with the gold. However 15 minutes later when they checked again it was discovered that it was in fact just a clearing check and that there was no actual cash in the account. Police contacted the bank and found out that the woman presenting the check was wanted for a previous fraud of a similar nature in Rayong in 2020. Earlier Wilaiwan Kontrakoon, 35, had gone to Banglamung police to report that her father's ATM card and 4,500 baht from his account were missing, reported Naew Na. Her father had been in a coma in ICU at Banglamung Hospital from January 15th for 14 days. No visits were allowed. When he died the hospital returned his possessions and the family realized the theft. Yesterday Wilaiwan and another relative went to the police station to thank chief Pol Col Nawin Sinthurat for a quick resolution to the case. This turned out to be a nurse who worked in the ICU at the hospital and had been there for ten years. Her name is Siriphan Lamyoong, aged 29. She said that it was a spur of the moment thing brought on by family debts. She apologized to the family of the dead man saying it was the first time she had done such a thing. She was charged with theft committed on government property and using someone's electronic card to steal. She was taken on a renenactment admitting everything saying she stole the card on February 1st in the morning and got the cash out next day in the evening. The family said that the hospital had yet to come through on promises made that if it was their own staff who stole the money they would fully reimburse the family. They are still waiting. Jimi Singh Sandhu was gunned down in a hail of 19 bullets outside a Rawai villa on Friday. Police had said his killers were either in Phuket or still in Thailand. They were sure about that. Yesterday RTP chief Pol Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk admitted they had travelled from Phuket to Bangkok and taken a taxi to Suvarnabhumi airport. There they boarded separate flights to the same destination believed to be Canada via Europe. They left two days after the hit on Sunday 6th February. Earlier reports of an arrest proved groundless, said Daily News who had a picture of one of the killers strolling from a taxi at Bangkok's main airport. Suwat said that the RTP know the identity of the assassins and are preparing the paperwork to have them arrested abroad and brought back to Thailand. They entered Thailand on December 18th, he said. He said that Long Covid presents itself as a set of conditions three months after a patient has had Covid-19. Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath reported that yesterday the chief of the Phayathai police Pol Col Borwonphop Sunthornrekha took lance corporal Norawich Buadok to meet with prosecutors at the central office in Ratchadaphisek. Norawich was riding a Ducati Monster motorcycle when he was involved in a collision that killed opthalmologist Dr Kratai who was traversing a zebra crossing outside a kidney institute several weeks ago. The case has been reported daily in Thailand leading to much national soul searching, changes in fines and enforcement and adaption at zebra crossings. The defendant will face nine charges in total the most serious of which is #1 - negligence causing the death of another person. Prosecutors said that this charge carries a ten year sentence and or a fine of 200,000 baht. Spokesman Itthiporn Kaewthip would not be drawn on whether the accused's status as a police officer would mean punishment would be especially severe. Fellow spokesman Prayuth Petchkhun said that justice would prevail and that the family of the victim would not need to hire a lawyer to press civil damages charges as this would be done for them by public prosecutors. The rest of the charges facing the lance corporal read like a list of all the things NOT to do when taking a motorcycle onto the roads, notes ASEAN NOW. The charges include: Having no licence plate Not driving on the left Not stopping for someone crossing on a zebra Having no tax Having no insurance and Speeding The accused also faces charges related to not showing consideration for others on the road and having an incomplete set of equipment on the bike (this normally relates to things like mirrors). He will appear again at 9 am on February 22nd.
