Thailand Elite Bronze status?
Briggsy replied to sqwakvfr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I doubt they will sell many of either status now the DTV is available for 10,000 to 12,000 Baht (depending where you apply). -
I am planning to spend around 140 days in Thailand on this particular entry on the DTV then go back to Europe for a month. I am weighing up the 90-day notification options. I will not be able to do it online as I am not in the 90-day notification database. Option 1. Border bounce. I can't think of a good reason to go to Laos or Malaysia but perhaps it will come to me. How much is a border run by van to Cambodia from Pattaya these days? Option 2. Ignore it. I don't think this is a good plan. You never know when you will need a bit of paper from Immigration. Option 3. Do the 90-day notification which involves all the document collation, going down to Jomtien and opening up the Pandora's box of going into Immigration. What do you advise?

My phone connected to my wifi fine. However my laptop said it was connected to the wifi but there was no internet service. This did not make sense to me so I googled it. I tried a number of solutions. The last one was "reset network settings". To my surprise, it worked. The only thing I had to do after the reset was reinstall my VPN. Not only that, my computer is now faster. I have no idea what I did. 😃

All sex offenders are recidivist. Best to get him a criminal record now before he graduates to more heinous crimes. -
False statements not required at all. Just book a health check up at a major hospital. If you don't like the DTV, that's fine but please don't say it is not possible for a retiree to obtain one. Because that is not factual.
-
There are 3 categories under which you can apply. Your post only refers to the "workcation" category. A retiree could easily apply under the "soft power" category using a medical appointment in Thailand. So I believe it is very possible to change from extensions due to retirement to DTV if the foreigner thinks it works for them.
-
Really, are you sure? Do you have a source for this? Or are you just assuming that DTV holders will not need to contact Immigration? However, they will if they want a TM30, a COR for vehicle registration etc., an extension of the initial 180 days which is allowable. I don't think they are exempt from the 90-day regime.

Motorcyclist suffers ankle injury in East Pattaya railroad accident

The locals can combine the two. Turn the mirrors in on the bike and use the phone mirror app to check our one's hair-do or blackhead situation. 😃 -
It is very important to understand that the first rule of the child abuser / groomer is to make the victim feel utterly powerless, ashamed and guilty. It is also very important to understand that as a result of the guilt, shame and powerlessness, the vast majority of victims do not tell anyone about their abuse for decades, least of all their parents. And the small minority that do try to tell somebody in authority at the time often find it extremely difficult to articulate clearly what happened. And if the very small minority who tell somebody are able to be clear, they are often dismissed or not believed. This is why way over 90% of instances of child abuse are not uncovered until a very long time after, if ever. When discussing child abuse, it is so important to bear this in mind. It is very very difficult for the victim to talk about it coherently or at all. It is not the same as walking down the street and somebody punches you in the face.

Maid Receives 235-Year Sentence for Massive Gold Thefts in Thailand
Briggsy replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
There is a maximum cap of time to be served. Perhaps somebody can help me out with this. So, here she was sentenced to 255 years, the cap will kick in and they will be released at that time. It may possibly be 25 years but I am not sure. The sentence reflects the relative social positions of the criminal and the victim. Peasant class criminal and affluent victim equals huge sentence in Thailand. Also theft is punished far more seriously than in Western countries. -

Illegal Gambling Den Busted in Bangkok’s Wang Thonglang District

The Juristic Person at my condo helpfully put together a pack including copies of the 80-year-old owner of the condo's id card and thabien baan. I just added the bits they had not included such as my entry stamp and my e-visa and the rental contract with the address of my condo and took it to Immigration to get a paper TM30. I overheard the Immigration staff complaining that when the condo had done the TM30 online, they had used the address of their head office nearby rather than the actual address of my condo. This essentially defeats the object of registering the address where the foreigner resides.

@Jumbo1968 You are approaching this from the wrong angle. Being rejected for a credit card or an increase in the limit of an existing card is not a personal slight. It does not mean you are being penalised or insulted. There is no need to "get the hump". It is simply a commercial decision based on risk and return. As a pensioner with no income other than a state pension, you do not fit the mould of a profitable customer. The issuing bank declines to give you a credit card or limit increase as you are not likely to be profitable and could well be loss-making. It is the bank's decision. Access to credit is not a right or a meritocracy. They don't want your custom.
