I have used EMS many times over the last 5 years and have never had a problem sending to the UK with them.
Thats what I say anyway!!

You can only apply 3 months max before you want the visa to start and that (at the moment) will be valid for 6 months.

A friend of mine lied in a visa application about where he met his Mrs, they were refused, the Embassy didn't believe them etc, they re-applied a couple of months later with complete honesty they also referred to the previous lie with reasons and an apology and they got it, they are happily married and have been living in the UK for the past 4 years, all is not lost matey.
Cliche I know - Honesty is the best...........

The Mrs is getting a new passport with her new surname and I was wondering about the old one, can she keep both, do they take it and destroy it etc, there are many country stamps in there, proof etc, we will of course make copies before she applies??
Thanks

I'm pretty sure all this is only possible as long as its a 'multiple entry' schengen visa, not a single entry.

Hi, my Mrs came over to the UK this summer on a 'visit for marriage' visa, basically a 6 month visit visa which allowed her to get married. I'm from Kent so when we got back we had to go for an interview at the council headquarters and it was all good, we got married in a registry office. I live in Thailand so we have no intentions on living in the UK at this time either.
Good luck

It all makes sense what your saying, I suppose thats why when I was writing the reply it seemes a bit obvious. My wifes 1st marriage visit visa also runs ont in November and I remember asking a similiar question.
Let us know what happens.

Can't you just wait 3 more days and apply for the 2nd visa on the 5th November?

Thanks Scouse, in your experience what are the chances of us getting a 1 year or 2 year visit visa having only had a 6 month before?

Forgot to mention that of the 1 year period starting from May, we would again be in the UK for 3 seperate times no more than 6 weeks at a time, twice in the summer for weddings and then Christmas.

Thanks, what do you think of the chances of getting a 1 year family visit visa would be then, our previous visa was a 'visit for marriage' visa for 6 months, we were in the UK for 2 x 1 month at a time, got married in the UK, no visa rules were broken, that will expire this November, we wish to obtain another visa in February to cover the whole summer and Christmas?
Thanks

Hello, what exactly is a 'family' visit visa, how long is it valid for?
What are the chances of getting a 1 or 2 year visit visa after having only 1, 6 month visit for marriage visa?
Thanks

How realistic is is that we would be granted a 1 year or 2 year multiple entry visit visa having only had 1 other 6 month visit visa?
What exactly is a family visit visa and is that the 1 we should go for?
Thanks

Hi, sorry to be asking my own question on someone elses thread but i t may help.
Scouse, correct me if i'm mistaken, if we applied for a spouse settlement visa and used it for the 2 years - coming and going from the UK then (if i'm reading you right) after 2 years we could apply for FLR if there are no restrictions as to how long you have to be in the UK for to get this, is that right, then if granted the FLR can be turned into an ILR later on??
Thanks

Thanks Mahout, I actually live full-time in Thailand, it's just the past few months that we have been back to get married, meet the folks etc, I normally only return for 2 weeks at some point in the year and maybe Christmas if i'm not working.
I will mail the embassy now and see what they say.
I have a friend who is also married to a Thai lady, she was previously in the UK on a settlement but returned to Thailand then went back to the UK about a year later, they applied for a 2 year visit visa and that was declined and a 6 month visa was finally obtained.
Thanks

Hi peeps, I was on here regularly at the beginning of the year with many questions about our 'visit for marriage visa' which we got without complication - many thanks again to all who answered!!
That particular visa will expire in November, we have since been back to the UK, got married etc, all hunky dory, me being a bit of a worrier and a person who likes to prepare, i'm thinking now of next year, you may remember I work offshore and am now on a 6 week on, 6 off rota. Next summer I have 4 family/friends weddings in the UK and we will attend at least 3 of them, I have a few questions, which visit visa do we now apply for ( I have of course searched already but like to get firm answers on here), we were married in the UK, Mon is in the process of registering it and changing her name etc in Thailand and we are having the Thai ceremony in February that is of course a different circumstance from before ALSO when she got the visa she quit working in the hotel bar that she had been at for nearly 2 years, the only reason she started working there was for the visa, the place being a proper company and they were great with letters and payslips etc, they also knew the score.
When we go to apply for a new visa in February can we apply for a year visit visa instead of 6 months, will the fact that she isn't now working make a massive difference, she spent 2 x 1 month on the last 6 month visa in the UK, the plan is to do 2 maybe 3 triops back to the UK for the weddings and maybe Christmas depending if i'm off, we still intend on living in Thailand and have recently put down a deposit on a new build-off plan house, when i'm away she goes home for a few weeks then comes back down when i'm there??
What do you think folks, i'm sure that there are many wives etc out there who don't officially work and continue to get visit visas.
Speak to me!!

The Mrs arrived at LHR last Sunday, I got back here on the Friday so I was in arrivals waiting for her, when she finally got through and met us she said she was asked how long she would be in the UK and if she had a return ticket, she produced a letter that I had given her which explained where Mon would be staying etc and she also showed the return ticket - all good, what did make me laugh was that Mon said the immagration person was black and didn't speak very good English - ha ha!!
Good to be back in the UK, even better knowing its only for 3 more weeks!!

BOSSHOGG, you will act as the sponsor for the family. I recently arrived in the UK with my Mrs, we also stay at my parents whilst we're here, Ma and Pa wrote a letter of invite for us to stay here, along with a copy of the deeds, mortgage statements etc to prove they own the house.
Good luck squire.
