  1. So no issue really I just hate switching cable companies again 3 years later. But currently 3BB is now gonna be the next popular service to replace AIS. Otherwise hey, “I love Lucy” is on the hits channel lol, hey hey, or “Family Ties” staring Michael J. Fox from BEFORE they made Back to the Future in 1985 lol, in fact this new AIS makes me wanna by a DMC Delorean and drive it up to 88 miles per hour and go back in time to before the day AIS lost their contract lol. Instead it was AIS that took their programming on a time machine 40 years into the past. So now I’m taking 3BB “BACK TO THE FUTURE MARTY” ????

The 3BB App is region locked and I can't download.  AIS play wasn't.  My Apple account is still linked to the US and not sure if I want to change.  I have a Samsung TV, will check to see if I can download the application on it.

Ok they told me wrong our 3BB technician just installed our 3BB a few minutes ago and yes the app is supposed to be available for download now on iTunes and it is. I just downloaded it on my smart TV AND IT WORKS GREAT ????! HBO GO will be available on March 30th or 31st not exactly sure if it’s the 30th or 31st I’ve heard both probably the 30th like the girl at Terminal originally told me when I set it up a few weeks ago I think.

Because it looks like everything she originally told me was all true and the email I received from 3BB was incorrect and she was right the HBO GO app is available for download now the 3BB technician just showed me and I actually downloaded it on my smart TV and it’s all setup. HBO will be available on March 30th or 31st sounds like probably the 30th is more accurate.

So yeah I might have to call Apple Care and temporarily change the country region on my iTunes account on my iPhone so I can download the app on our iPhones as well. I haven’t had to do that in a few years but it’s usually pretty easy to switch it back to the United States again for the iTunes region AFTER I successfully download the 3BB HBO GO app on my iPhone also. So yes if you only have one iTunes account you’ll have to at least temporarily change your iTunes region which for me usually requires a phone call to Apple Care.

But I don’t even have to do that really I’ll just temporarily log in to my other Thai region iTunes account that I use on my smart TV on our iPhones and then download the new app, and then just log back into my United States iTunes region. (Rather log back into my United States region iTunes account that’s easier so I won’t have to call the Apple Store hopefully.) In fact now that I recall I’ve actually done that before as well a while ago for another Thai app. So that’s not even an obstacle really we just have to go around a few things in place because of the region but that’s easy enough.

I was thinking about your post because I really thought I was in the same situation and it might be the case but according to my email inquiry 3BB told me that the HBO GO app isn’t even available for download until the 31st. I also heard the from a separate 3BB employee at the mall that HBO wouldn’t be available till the 30th but she told me that day the first time I was there in person that the HBO GO app should be at least already available for download. So I think maybe that’s just what she thought because when I sent them an email I received a response yesterday and they replied and said the HBO GO app isn’t available for download until the 31st.

But if it actually is because of the iTunes region that can always be changed I’ve had to do that twice here in 5 years because sometimes that is actually an issue with iTunes in Thailand because of legal issues and censorship laws. If your iTunes region is locked to the United States as mine is it’ll probably take an hour on the phone with Apple Care to temporarily switch it to Thailand so you can download the HBO GO app. If your region isn’t locked you might be able to switch it to Thailand and then back to the United States by yourself. My iTunes is set up exactly like that I’ve been doing it like that since 2010 and it’s never been a problem just a hassle switching it back and fourth every time there’s an app only available in Thailand that I need.

In order to switch it temporarily from the United States to Thailand you need a Thai debit or credit card and your United States debit or credit card so you can switch your billing address that’s just how I do it under settings. That’s how you can switch your iTunes account region from the United States to Thailand and then download the Thai app you need and then you just simply switch your iTunes account region right back to the United States a minute later. It’s usually pretty easy to do except sometimes I have to call Apple Care. But we already know for sure that HBO isn’t available until the 30th or the 31st so I’m gonna wait and if I still cannot download it on the 31st then I’ll call Apple Care and go into settings and temporarily switch my iTunes region to Thailand and then download the 3BB HBO GO app as soon as it’s available on iTunes for download, and then just switch my iTunes region back to the United States again as I’ve had to do a couple of time here in Thailand over the years.

This way by keeping your iTunes region set to the United States you can still download whatever movies and music you want uncensored. I’ve been doing this here for several years but occasionally I have to switch my region to Thailand in order to download particular apps but it’s never been a problem before switching my iTunes region back to the United States again after I download whatever Thai app I need. Then you can watch movies uncensored and actually be able to access everything on iTunes. On iTunes Thailand you can’t download everything certain movies aren’t available just like on Netflix that’s why on Netflix you have to use express VPN but on iTunes just keep your region set to the United States and you will always have access to EVERYTHING available on iTunes and not just based on your region. That’s how I’ve been managing my iTunes account for more than 10 years living overseas around this part of the world. But it’s possible to switch back and fourth occasionally just kind of a hassle.

Regardless it looks like the HBO GO app probably really isn’t available for download until the 31st that’s what 3BB told me via email yesterday. So I’m not going to be so fast to switch my iTunes region just yet because it’s always a hassle switching it back to Thailand and then back to the United States. But if it really is because of the iTunes region that’s not necessarily a problem either, that’s easily workable there’s usually a way around the regional issues with downloading movies and apps over here and iTunes actually makes it a lot easier than Netflix as far as changing your region/location.

Living in this part of the world you’ll get good at that if you want decent television service. I’ve been doing this for years and probably a lot more often now because they keep playing musical cable contract every 3 years it seems.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to change mine either but you can change it back but it can be a little bit of a hassle. I’m gonna ask the technician again on Tuesday when he comes out.

  5. Correction I think. HBO will be available on 3BB on March 31st I was told. But I was also told the 30th. It sounds like the HBO GO app will be available on March 30th the day prior I think is what she meant to say. But she made it sound like the app should be available for download now but apparently not until the 30th or the 31st according to an email they sent me.

  6. All they will have on the 30th is HBO and Cinemax but 3BB has a great app where I can still stream a few episodes of a couple of TV shows we’re going to miss for the next couple of weeks not really a big deal at least it’s cheaper service with faster internet.

  7. I was at the mall yesterday but I didn’t notice anyone passing out test kits or anything or testing anyone. Usually the mall is the first to do stuff  like that but I didn’t see anything. I’m sure the place I donated blood at is testing people. I’m assuming the hospital does it only. Oh well neither of us are sick but so far so good I think people are reacting well maybe a little bit too well. I noticed the crowds are thinner probably why we’re doing so well. I hope they don’t cancel Songkran but this year it might be for the best unless they get it under control within a month. I know it’s the biggest current news but reading some of these articles seems like someone is trying to influence them to cancel it or something. I don’t know if I can do it this year again anyway.

The embassy and the 3 official consulates have not issued a non-o visa for retirement for many years. The honorary consulates were able to issue them until about 3 years ago when the embassy mandated the could not issue them anymore.

You know what I think I remember now. I think what I’m thinking about might be people switching their actual retirement extensions to an o extension not a new retirement non o. Is that what I was confused about? I think it is. I think I remember that now because I’m on a non o for marriage.

Interesting because I remember after October last year reading a lot of information about lots of people trying to do exactly this same thing as far as getting a non o based on retirement instead of a non oa in order to avoid the medical insurance requirement for new retirement visas and I thought that actually was a thing that people could do on retirement visas. Apparently not I guess. I just thought it was a way to avoid the insurance requirement and I thought it was but if it’s been over 3 years then obviously not I guess people on retirement visas are just stuck with the insurance requirement.

He would not be able to get a non-o visa for retirement anywhere in the US.

Ok, so maybe they are trying to close the insurance requirement loophole for new retirement visas then. I know it’s definitely easy to get a non o for marriage in NYC but I’ve never obtained a retirement visa before. I am retired but marriage is easier than the retirement oa visa.

You could try contacting the consulate in Montreal but I suspect you will get the same answer as Toronto.

I suspect the embassy in has told them not to issue non-o visa for retirement. That happened in the US and Australia a few years ago.

You could enter visa exempt or on a tourist visa and apply for the non-o at immigration.

If the Op is in Toronto I wonder how far out of his way it would be to take a trip south over the border down to NYC. Because it’s about an 8 hour drive from Toronto to NYC. Just a suggestion but maybe he could get his non o based on retirement in NYC instead of Canada?

You will be able to subscribe to HBO for THB 149 per month via their app to be released in the Google and Apple play stores from 30 March.

Mine was 1200 baht a month but I got their fastest service.

  13. Yes this is correct my HBO starts effective on March 30th on my new 3BB account and I’m all hooked up and ready. A lot cheaper than AIS as well but less channels so that’s also going to mean more online streaming but better than what AIS offers as of today!

From what I have seen from my time in Thailand; that's exactly what's going to happen.  It's been the same with the Premier League football contract that gets renegotiated every 3 years.  (And moves to the highest bidder?)

Well 3BB is only 600 baht and some change a month but I’m still going to be streaming at least one of our shows later on that was in the middle of the final season before this bs happened. The only downside is all you get with 3BB is HBO, but I’m not keeping my service with AIS just for a few channels that 3BB doesn’t have so I’ll just stream that show on iTunes probably later on this year because I’m not going to reward it by continuing our service with AIS not even for the Fox Channels. It makes no sense because HBO is owed by Warner Media and so is CNN, yet we lost Fox News but we get to keep the other Fox channels, CNN which is also owned by the same company who owns HBO. So go figure that one I guess I don’t know. All I know is AIS isn’t getting another penny out of me for cable or internet. They can consider my last bill as a poor customer service tax.

  15. By the way my HBO is effective April on 3BB but it’s already set up in my house. So looks like 3BB for HBO and pretty much iTunes and a lot of internet streaming for at least one TV show we’re going to miss that used to be shown on FX. So no maybe not as good as AIS used to be but definitely much better than the service AIS provides effective today.

AIS told me the removal of Fox and HBO will decrease our subscription moving forward.

read somewhere HBO will go to 3B (sic) not sure who that is

Yes that’s correct I recently signed up. So does anyone know how this works? Does the Warner Media Company who owns HBO just play musical contracts every 3 years or what? So now 3BB has the contract, and up until about December 31st 2016 True had the contract then AIS got it in 2017 and now 3BB. So I wonder if we’ll have to switch cable companies again in another 3 years. It seems like this happens here about every 3 years between true and AIS but yes it’s now with 3BB (3 BroadBand). They’re better than True HD or AIS ever was! AIS said they’d replace it with new channels but they’re not exactly new definitely not a replacement.
