Does not mean it was legal, and does not mean those going the bribery route will get away with it forever. 80 officers already arrested for corruption over visas, might be just the start.
But Thailand is only corruption, lol

Not if he did not have the funds in the bank and more probably from a province he did not live in. Supporters of corruption will always say otherwise.
A friend of mine did like that for many years, never had a problem, even when he left the country and come back

If he has to go to an agent there will be no funds to use as he sees fit, or he could have gotten the extension legally for 1900 baht.
is also legally if he would use an agent lol

Messy and lot more expensive than retirement.
Some agents don't even touch non O marriage and subsequent extension.
There are agents that can do it easy and why messy? Retirement has many requirements as well and more money to show at immigration, 800k if am not wrong, while marriage is only 400k

Thanks once again Joe. Via an agent I (I'm told) I can do a retirement extension. If the need arose though, what would I have to do to get a work permit after getting a retirement extension?
you can also do a marriage extension using an agent!

I'm told because it's a little risky at the moment
It's not risky if you use a trusted agency. A friend of mine use the same agency for many years, never had a problem!

At airport would have taken 15-20 mins.
Have the queue at the airport too. I saw it last time I was there. Best to do it in advance and fly totally peace of mind. I don't mind if there are many people at immigration. Everything is easy for doctor jack and mister Hide ????

There isn’t a country on the planet that doesn’t have some degree of corruption, unless of course you live in a state of delusion.
You can say what you want, I don't interest

Do it in advance at the immigration. I wouldn't do it at the airport the day I have to fly

Has nothing to do with Thailand, if you have money, everyone wants it.
Even in your own country. A fact of life.
I don't need visas, health insurance, there is no corruption etc. in my own country. A fact of life
