Race? Address in laos? I don't understand lol, what you write on address in laos if you don't want to go there? It's just a border bounce, you don't want to go to stay in laos

So from where did you leave from to Nong Khai and back for 1800 baht? How much did you pay your agent for the Laos Visa?
The last time I paid 3700 thb, everything included

In other words you obtained a visa for Laos using an agent.
Yep I can confirm that. It's more convenient and easier to use an agency that takes care of everything. I paid 1800thb for the transportation (go and back)plus money for the Lao visa. I don't like to do all the steps by myself, it's a bit stressful and I wouldn't save money anyway

Your posts are not clear/incorrect
"The Laotian Government requires British passport holders to have a visa for entry into Laos"
I just give my passport to the Lao officer plus money and he stamp a Lao visa on my passport. No form and passport photo

So you must be from one of the few countries that don't need a visa for Laos. Which one?
UK. Maybe because I use a visa run agency. I don't know but I can confirm I have never been asked to fill a Lao visa form and take a passport photo

Hello everyone,
I'm in Bangkok and planning to make a visa run in Nong Khai around August 30.
I did it a lot of times 10 yeas ago, but not recently.
From what I read, in 2024, for Lao visa with a French passport I need:
- 40 dollars with new banknotes in very good condition (extra 1 dollar is charged if my visa is processed out of the official working time)
- a photography
So, if I remember correctly, except it was $30 by the past, things didn't change. For coming back the same day to Thailand, my immigration history is as follow:
- 0 visa run since many years
- after 6 months outside Thailand, I came back around March 25 with an e-visa that I extended for 30 days
- stayed 10 days in HK and flied without visa to Chiang Mai on July 2 where I got 30 days exemption that I extended for 30 days
So, it should be a no brainer to make a 60 days exemption visa run at Nong Khai, that said if someone has some warnings or very recent - after July 15 - bad experience, I'll love to hear from him.
Thank you!
P.S. Is there a way to get PDF of the Lao forms to fill them in Thailand? Why do you have to make a passport photo and fill the Lao visa form? I did a border run last time, I didn't do anything, just pay and come back to Thailand the same day

It wouldn't surprise me at all if everything goes back to the way it was before. Thais are too bipolar, today they like foreigners, tomorrow they hate them. They are too insecure and paranoid

To me all these requirements are ridiculous. I prefer to stay here with tourist visas and free exemption stamps for at least 180 days and then go back to my country for some months

As someone who's bouncer on East Asia for 35 years. Lived in Thailand on TR visas extension stamps for probably half that time no less than three months a year.
I don't believe is unlimited for all those individuals doing border hops. It's my expatriate sense at these people are still going to get questioned and get hassled.
Are you sure? On 2017 I stayed in Thailand for about 8 months only with 2 tourist visas, 2 extensions and one border bounce plus extension

With all that money you appear to be able to throw away, Jack, why not get the Elite visa then?
Because i still like to go back to my country, i don't want to live permanently in thailand for now but I am just waiting to be 50 years old and then i will probably apply for a retirement visa. By the way i would never spend so much money for an elite visa come on. I am not rich like Donald Trump lol

I doubt very much they go to Poi Pet, which is what I was referring to. The 60 days exempt stamps are free. The Cambodian cost is ~1500 with same day exit. Your travel-cost to/from is the only other factor - back in the day, I did it by bus to Chanthaburi + songthiew to the border for maybe 600 baht round-trip.
I'd do anything to avoid riding in a crowded van at 5AM. Maybe if they ran them at some decent hour.
I prefer to spend some thb more and be sure that i will get the stamp without any issues. 1000thb more to lose are nothing for me

Because Poi Pet is the most corrupt point of entry in the country, and upon trying to return to Thailand you could be denied-entry (stamped denied in your passport) for not having enough money - even if you have plenty - then their helpful "agent" will try to extort you for a princely-sum to get in.
Literally any other land-border is possible, with some "affordable" corruption only on the Cambodian side. Expect at least 300 Baht for a same-day enter/exit, as Cambodian rules say you must stay overnight - plus some more on top of the official visa-fee if you try to pay in $$ vs their crazy exchange-rate.
I get the full service with just 4000thb, they pick me up, bring me to the border and then bring me back. The 60 days stamps are also included with 4000thb. It's this expensive? You gotta be kidding me

Hi all.
I'm looking for the cost of visa exemption stamps at the border WITHOUT travel costs. All I can seem to find is tour companies that don't break the cost down.
I remember it being about 1,000 baht. Is that still the case.
Thank you in advance
#Edit - forgot to mention - I'm British and have no overstay ect.I use an agency that deal with immigration Thai and Cambodia. 4000thb all included, no stress

My friend has stayed just 3 months on a special 90day exempt for Russians (Apr-Jul), flown to KUL for a week and today at HKT got asked his return ticket to Russia. He had it, allowed in no problem.
Hasn't been in the country for 2 years since 2022.
2 of his friends got more stamps but were asked to show the tickets too, by different officers, all got in, same flight, today. There are some airports in Thailand where you never got questioned at all. Can fly in anytime, no issues
-
As i said last time, folks here can't accept that right now you can stay here more easily without apply for this stressful immigrant visas and have to deal with immigration all the time in person and have to deal with a thai wife that always need your money

Or you could just get the correct visa for the purpose of staying in Thailand, then don't have to make border runs.
Money is no object according to you, so what's the problem.yes, why not

What are going on about. For months you've been asking very basic questions "for a friend" as you had no clue and now you're acting like an expert that knows for sure you can stay as long as you like on visa exempt entries.
The visa exempt is still only for tourism so all an IO has to do is say you're living here rather than being a tourist and you'll be denied entry just like IO's always could.
If this might happen it's ok, i can always come back to thailand in the next months, no worries. I am not an expert but i am learning how to live here and i will try to do as many as possible visa exempt until i have the possibility

You are playing semantics.
It's a given that most of us living in Thailand have in fact a "temporary permission of stay" .
That can be continuous and ongoing and in many cases is.
Some have not exited Thailand for many years.
BTW: You took 3 words of my post out of context....."live in Thailand"
The poster I was replying to was suggesting the recent change with heading .."unlimited border visa exempt entries" implies possibility of living in Thailand in similar fashion to those on extensions.
It does not.
What's the problem if folks like me can do unlimited borders run for now? And if this dream might ends one day I don't have any problem, I can go back to my country and then come back to Thailand again. Very easy

A guy I was friendly with ‘lived on his wits’, because, as he admitted; ‘You’ll run out of money at some point’. Border runs were a source of worry for him because he never could get together 20,000 baht to show if ever asked. He rented a scooter (think 2,000 baht per month). The apartment owner engaged a lot with his tenants and we heard many stories from him. One day my friend ‘vanished’. The owner told us that, despite many warnings and much leniency, he hadn’t paid his rent and enough was enough. With some strong-arm help the owner had packed up what little belongings he had and took them, together with my friend to ‘somewhere’ and dumped him. With zero cash, I did wonder what the guy would’ve done in case of a moto accident or illness?
That would never be my case. I have a lot of money, no problem at all for me

You sadly do not understand what this announcement means.
Honestly i think that some folks with marriage visas or retirement visas, elite visas can't accept that now people like me can live in thailand more easily

You previously implying that you can live in Thailand with this announcement of "unlimited border" entries.
That is a nonsense. Especially you reference to border run companies.
I mean that i can live in thailand until there are unlimited border bounces or i could also go to another asian country and then come back to thailand. I have many solutions, no problem for me. It's up to me if i will want to go back to my country or not. I could change mind, who knows. Border run agency told me that it's unlimited now, they even write that on the website

I think you totally misunderstood what I wanted to say. When I do a border bounce I don't want to stay in Laos not even for one day so it's pointless to write an address over there as I would go back to Thailand after they stamp me out of Laos within a few minutes!
