The rules say proof of accommodations while in Thailand... In nearly 30 years I have never been asked by the IO... I use booking.com and have confirmation on a hotel room that is fully cancellable... unless I know that is where I will be staying...
Ok thanks for the information 🙏

I am coming back to Thailand with a free 30 days visa exemption. I know that I must have an onward flight to exit Thailand within 30 days but I just wanted to know if I also have to show a proof of accomodation at the immigration officer at the airport arrival or isn't necessary. Thai embassy in my country only say to have a proof of accomodation if applying for a tourist 60 days e-visa but they do not mention it with a free visa exemption

Why? Because this is Thailand, the land of harsh punishment for perceived loss of face. If they even THINK you got over on them they will go to h*ll and back to make you pay.
Hate the message, not the messenger.
foreigners give money to them country, they should thanks. Try to imagine if folks stop to go to stay there, thais would feel desperate losing a lot of money that foreigners bring to their country, because you know that thailand is a tourist country

An extension from a province you do not live in is 100% illegally obtained

Agree with the above posts. A border bounce following a 1 time Ed Visa makes them think you scammed them.
why? If someone just wants to stay more in thailand? totally nonsense

Immigration hates letting people with previuos educaitonal visa.....the see it as a bogus visa.....be glad you can even re enter.....just pay the extra..
immigration make money with ed visas, they share it with the agencies. And they hate? Lol

That why many farangs use agency and get extension from different immigration office. Ok pay more money but no stress every year with this immigration officer
-
I like thailand as a country but i never liked this thai immigration, too many rules, too much stress every year with this visas, renewal visas ecc.

A friend of mine flew to Thailand without visa, he got 30 days visa exempt without buying an onward flight outside Thailand. Airline company and the immigration didn't ask him anything. This is the second time that he fly to Thailand without an onward ticket

The Thai Embassy in Canberra Australia advises that Health Insurance is now required for non imm ‘O’ retirement 90 Visas. This is also on the website information for a company called Thaivisa in Bangkok. The Health insurance is required. 400,000 baht inpatient and 40,000 outpatient. Does anybody know if these changes are correct.?
Always pay and pay. Unfortunately Thailand is only about money. Farang=ATM

If that's correct why even post your OP.
You would be aware of the options and have already been covered in thread.
Move on

Officially, you can but immigration will make it difficult when you reenter. Check you have enough funds and say that you're not a tourist.
Someone said "ridiculous " having to complete a tax form. If you are out of UK for nine months of a tax year, you become tax excempt so Thailand can tax you.
Finally, consider insurance. Normal UK insurance companies will not cover you over six months and accidents do happen.
I have been in thailand for almost 7 years, never done insurance

If you continue with this you're going to create a lot of trouble for all of us. Pay your taxes on the basis of your own situation, and leaveus to do the same.
Let them pay tax, up to them. Just don't stress us, it's irrelevant for me

The METV (multi entry Tourist visa) is valid to enter Thailand for 6 months.
Each entry permits a stay of 60 days, which can be extended for a further 30 days at Immigration, before doing a border run for a further entry. It's possible to stay in Thailand for almost 270 days with the METV.
You could then do a couple of further border runs and re-enter visa exempt, granting a further permitted stay of 30 days, which can be extended a further 30 days.
That would bring you approx a year in Thailand.
If you have deep pockets, you could also consider the multi entry Elite visa.
Valid for 5 years, each entry permits a stay of 1 year.Knowing your nationality and age may determine options.
Perfect! Thank you for letting me know!

I gave you the answer earlier.
METV with some border runs.
There are other options such as ED visa etc .
Buy a PE visa and stay 5 years etc.
You know all the options.
Why keep asking
I know i have all the options thanks, i just don't understand why people here keep talking about this tax
-
But why are you talking about this tax topic? I was asking what type of visa i could do to stay in thailand for at least 1 year lol

I can stay less than 6 months, not a big deal. Can come to Thailand every year

It is true. Why would you want to avoid your legal tax obligations under Thai law?
Anyway your country probably has a tax equalization agreement with Thailand.
Unless you have extremely large overseas income streams you wont owe much, or nothing at all.
Foreigners come to live in Thailand also for not pay tax. Why should I pay? I can stay at my country then, Thailand is being too expensive. I want to avoid to give my money to the thai government

So you believe.
OP, one option would be a METV obtained in your own country that provides up to 9 months along with some visa exempt land border entries with extensions
I never did a METV before. How does it works? Do I have to exit Thailand every 2 or 3 months?

You become a tax resident if you are in Thailand over 6 months. Many ongoing topics covering this.
Is this only with a tourist visa or also with other type of visas? I've never heard about that before

As long as you fly in and out, tourist visas shouldn't be a problem. But be prepared to file a Thai tax return if you stay over 6 months in a calendar year.
Thai tax? Why?
