Why would you need to reserve a hotel?Plenty to chose from when you get here.

Mini buses leave usually every 15 minutes or so,if not a lot of people it may be a bit longer.

So still working, because they told me the trains are not going now, I don't know if is true, but when I try to book in 12go I only have the Taxi option.

And do you know what time they start going to Cha-Am?

About the hotel or maybe Airbnb, I like to book before.

    Thank you!

  2. Hi, I'm planning going this weekend to Cha-Am. I think there are not trains now going there. I read the mini vans depart from Sai Tai Mai, it's very far, so I want to be sure if there are nowadays vans going to Cha-Am, and I would love to know the timetable of the departures. Thanks.

They start the 60 days from the date of application, not the date of the previous stamp's expiry.

So I think it's just a money making ploy to get the people using the Covid-60 to get another one, and of course pay 1900 baht, on Jan 29th even though their previous one doesn't expire until the end of Feb.

So everyone will be stamped in until 30th March.

The next announcement could be they're being made available until Feb 28th.

Then everyone has to go and pay 1900 baht again on Feb 28th even though their stamp is until 30th March.

    Etc etc.

    You get the picture. ????

    Yeah! That's sounds very thai.

Like when they told the amnesty ends in the end of september, 100% was the last amnesty, and need to have a proper visa or go to our country. And finally they extend again a week later, and even they started with this covid extension. Finally it was great for overstayers, and very bad for the people who paid 17k-25k for 3 months visa.

Yes, they insist on an appointment now. If you don't have one, you wait until they take care of all the appointments, unless there's a big lull in the action. They want to control the flow, and although last time they controlled it via a first come, first served manner (in the tent), now they want control via appointment.

Do you have the link for the appointment?

You can apply for a 60 day covid extension until January 29th.

If you get one this month you could then apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife that would give you time to get more transfers into the bank.

I have now the visa until the 16th of february. If they don't extend again the date, can I go the 29th of january to extend again? In that case would have 60 days until the 30th of march.

  6. I went today, can do the photocopies or printings there, the 60 days extension in the third floor and no people, it's fast if you have everything. Need one photo, passport copies, 1900 bahts and in my case the TM30, because in my passport the last visa stamp was in Kalasin. I made it because the guy who rent me the condo is a nice guy, I called him, he edited the condo contract and sended me with the date of today, because legally need to do the TM30 thing in 24 hours since you live there (I live there since 4 months ago), need too the ID of the owner and the copy of house registration, they send me everything by Line and printed there, and quite fast I get the TM30 in the second floor. Finally needed to pay a fine of 800 bahts because I didn't have the TM30 of Kalasin. The 60 days start today but need to go the last day of my visa (25th, chistmas), they told me no problem if I go monday 28.

Something in that trailer made me search "The Pogues in Thailand"

To be honest, I was expecting better.

I like the song, it's not my favorite but I think it's a great song, that was the last album with Shane in 1990. About the history between The Pogues and Thailand the are many songs in that album and many references to this country:

    Sayonara
    (Shane MacGowan)

    "Okay, it's time for Sayonara..."

Sayonara is Japanese for "good bye." In concert I've heard Shane introduce this song by saying it's about a Yankee (i.e., American) soldier and a Thai hooker. It's also the first of three songs on "Hell's Ditch" set in Thailand (the others being "Summer in Siam" and "House of the Gods.") The boys, or at least Shane, must have had a fun tour of Indochina.

"Ooh she gave me Mekong Whiskey
Ooh she gave me Hong Kong Flu
Ooh she gave me Mekong Whiskey
Put me on a breeze to Katmandu..."

Mekong Whiskey is a local whiskey in Thailand. I have always suspected that "Hong Kong flu" was a reference to some sort of venereal disease, but I haven't been able to confirm it. There was an outbreak of "Hong Kong flu" in the early 1990s that was a pretty nasty viral infection spread by contact with birds (specifically chickens). Katmandu is the capital of Nepal (see Sunnyside of the Street). The chorus itself here seems to be a close cousin to the one in Van Morrison's "Moonshine Whiskey" off his November 1971 Tupelo Honey release

My cousins in London used to jam on a Sunday afternoon with some of the pogues in Willesden London.

Not sure if Shane never managed to get there.

I have watched this weekend the documentary about Shane MacGowan and it's a <deleted>in' masterpiece. I love this man and I love The Pogues, I think Shane is one of the best songwriters ever. And I would love to drink some beers with some of this guys.

Now it's possible to rent the movie but only in USA, I made it with a VPN connected to USA. This is the trailer:

  9. Hi, I am going to receive a sum of money in transfer, I will pay many fees, and the change of the money, any advise to save the most possible money?

Ok, it's a money I had invested in Bolivia, transferwise doesn't work for outgoing transfers in Bolivia, and the banks charge great fee, something between 2.3 and 2.5% of the money, amazing Bolivia, but it's my only way so...

    I read this article:

    https://www.thethailandlife.com/how-to-send-money-to-thailand-no-bank-fees

"You can offset the loss slightly by choosing to send money in your home currency, but many people sending money to Thailand make the mistake of choosing to convert to Thai Baht at their source bank instead of at the Thai end.

Remember: This means you lose even more money, because your bank steals a nice chunk of cash on their own exchange rate, a rate they set themselves – not the “mid-market rate”.

That said, the Thai bank will still convert your currency to Thai Baht at their own rate too, and make a enough for a meal out. But they generally won't squeeze your pockets as hard as your sending bank  (your home bank)."

The money is in dollars, so I understand in the bank of Bolivia it must be said that don't change the dollars to bahts.

    Any advise? Thanks.
