There will be a vaccine and probably available by the end of the year. That will then allow some return to normal next year and maybe then it may be worth looking at holidays overseas again.
There will be no vaccine by the end of the year and it will take years to produce billions of doses

No, herd immunity has not been taking seriously by experts for quite some time now. Only a vaccine might achieve this.
Do you realize herd immunity and vaccines use the same principle right?
So called "experts" are waiting for the vaccine to make billions of dollars

Stupid people go to Spain for holiday. Selfish.
They go USA, Brazil, India same? Idiots.
Will be spread. Sure.
Those countries soon will have herd immunity while Thailand will destroy its economy panicking and locking down for every asymptomatic case.

Well, there's 4 real Thais in my house at the moment.
I live on a Thai middle class housing estate with around a thousand Thai occupants.
I go cycling with a real Thai cycling club.
I can speak Thai to a certain extent, none of the Thai i mix with outside my house can speak any English.
And none of them have ever shown any interest in anything outside of Thailand.
How about you sandyf?
Do you live in Pattaya surrounded by other white folk?
or do you live with the locals?
What's so special about living around people "not showing any interest in anything outside of Thailand".
It's not something really to be proud of having no idea about life outside your small country.
It's kind of the definition of ignorance.

The word "unsafe" is getting me sick.
Seriously, when all this buffoonery is going to end?

Shooting at Chicago funeral, 14 wounded.
More than 60 shots, 12 killed in weekend violence.
And the problem of US is police violence, what a bunch of idiots

You bring up a great point.
For 99% of the population covid 19 will run its course in 2-3 weeks and life goes on. Wipe out my life's work of savings and I can never replace it, poverty is forever.
Check out the new detected cases in quarantine, vast majority totally asymtomatic.
This virus hysteria is totally ridicolous, at least Europe seems to use more common sense

"Thais know now how to protect themselves as almost everyone wears a face mask in public."
This part of his statement is absolute rubbish. The ONLY time Thais are wearing masks is when they have to go into shopping malls etc. Away from those and in their own villages social distancing and mask wearing is non-existent. They continue to live as they always have with no concern about the affect their complacency has on others.
What complacency? There's obviously no virus in Thailand, are you suggesting them to wear mask until 2054?

Good for you. Do you fear giving it to someone else?
No, because there's no virus atm in Thailand.
If it was rampant I would be more careful but I'd still try to go on with my life.

16 people used the same elevator. This really shows the level of intelligence or utter .. these guys sprout.
How did she get to the elevator? Where was she before that? Where was she after that? Her family tested positive and she's wondering around BKK. But don't fear. It's all ok. Those in the elevator tested negative? Well the first time anyhow. Where are those people now? And why one has to ask was she allowed to wonder the streets of BKK.
I don't fear at all, the virus is the last of my concern in my daily life in Thailand.

It could get a lot worse yet if they let more people into the country.
Just red the news : Imaging that some of them Are positive an decide to Fly / Sneak into Los
The owner of a Bangladeshi hospital, accused of issuing thousands of fake negative Covid-19 test results at his 2 clinics, was arrested yesterday whilst trying to flee to neighbouring India dressed as a woman.
(Now that you’ve absorbed the first sentence…)
Police say the arrest marks the end of a 9 day manhunt for 42 year old Mohammad Shahed over allegations he gave fake certificates to patients certifying them “virus-free” without testing them. He’s one of more than a dozen people detained in the past few days in connection with the scam.
“He was arrested at the banks of a border river as he was trying to flee to India. He was wearing a burqa.”
Hundreds of them arrived in Italy with those fake tests and dozens are positive.

What's the point of all the daily briefing of the imported cases, how is it relevant if someone has a virus but not even showing any sympthoms.
Of all the new "imported cases" not even one has died, is it really necessary all this hype over this?
Also, all those reports "20 returnees rushed to hospital with fever" without any follow up are really bad journalism.

What is your solution?
Test, isolate and go on with our lives.
Clowing down schools because there is a single asymptomatic case detected 10 km away is totally overreacting.

Better to go the USA route they only had 65,370 new cases today-probably undercounted, but not too bad
Why always bring up USA, there are plenty of countries in Europe who got it bad at the beginning but now having a less hysterical approach without the paranoia and scaremongering.
Having a covid free country is not possible in the long term, they will realize it once the economy will be totally destroyed.

Going to a Mall is risky. Going on a holiday or weekend is insane.
To me it's insane staying home for months because you are scared of a disease which is harmless for vast majority of people.
If you are 80 years old with bad health I understand why you would want to stay home.

There is an abundance of contradictory information out there, however, it was found that previous coronaviruses were rarely transmitted to other due to the fact that asymptomatic people are, by the very nature, not showing any symptoms, so not coughing, sneezing etc. etc and have a relatively low viral load.
We, as a race, are learning daily from the virus, the figures banded around are that up to 40% of people are asymptomatic.
Actually it seems the asymptomatics may be as high as 80%

This mass hysteria and paranoia in Thailand is childish.
The press is craving for new infections. Nothing to report is so unsatisfactory.
And all of this for a single aymptomatic case, they better close their country down forever with this scared sheep attitude.

UK quarantines travellers from Spain in sudden blow to Europe's revival

Yeah but those soldiers were not 80 years old with a life expetancy of 1/2 years.
US now has around 80 thousands official new cases per day, probably means almost 1 million new infections per day.
