  1. Nah that would be, “Khun punchay sexi” LOL.
  2. Ah the English fake it spelling. Dealing with tonal language. Depending on inflection and who your talking to, “Do you speak Thai (well)”, or “You speak Thai for craaap”, or “Can you understand a single word I’m saying you stupid bastid?”
  3. OMG, just cannot resist. Bangkok, Oriental setting And the city don't know that the city is getting The creme de la creme of the chess world In a show with everything but Yul Brynner Time flies doesn't seem a minute Since the Tirolean spa had the chess boys in it All change don't you know that when you Play at this level there's no ordinary venue It's Iceland or the Philippines or Hastings or Or this place! One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster The bars are temples but the pearls ain't free You'll find a god in every golden cloister And if you're lucky then the god's a she I can feel an angel sliding up to me.
  4. Oh please. No different than Republonazis in the United States, or moral extremists in any Country. You must do what we want you to do because we know what’s best for you. Your body is ours to do with as we like and you just rent it from us. Hurry up and wait in line for the dickin’. Fortunately the truly extreme ones are usually in the minority. Like I said earlier a drop in the bucket of doctors, and what else do you expect from the stone the infidel Muslims in the South?
  5. This is the second child passport question I’ve seen in as many days. Admittedly, I’m American, but why not get the child’s Thai passport first, take him to Old Britannia, and then get him/her their EU or British passport? Just curious. Should deal with both anyway.
  6. 900 Baht. So little money for so much trouble. Definitely didn’t get ripped off. I would have thought he rang the bell by accident with such a todo.
  7. Not that I have much sympathy for Russians right now, but the story could just as often be, and often is (put in Farang of your choice) gets drunk refuses to pay bill, get aggressive etc… Could even be Thai. Good gawker news, but that’s all.
  8. Steven100, Are you serious? Perhaps by Western standards. But the complaint was that he couldn’t keep workers and how he could cut down on his attrition, not how he could totally disrespect them and treat them like sweat shop workers. Your attitude would send them right out the door, ALL of them. Their brand of Buddhism, face, importance of family, and a cultural desire to have fun and not beua are overriding factors. At any time, and I mean at any time a Thai man can and will become a monk and leave work in the dust. They are taught impermanence through Theravada Buddhism, and they believe it. If they can and do very often leave their romantic relationships because of beua, which can mean they are just stressed, what chance would a Farang who offers nothing to them have? Unless it is an opportunity to increase their status they are simply not going to stick around. We are not talking about University educated, or “professionals” who might be willing to work through inconveniences for the benefit of a Farang and not their own or their families’. I told my fiancé your answer and his response? Stupid Farang, beua.
  9. Thanks for putting in the attribution bamnutsack. Glad someone looked it up to find. Also, I think the sentence you refer to actually belongs in the section above HTP, heated tobacco products. Snus is chewing tobacco. If you look further under heated products (click on it) you will see specifically referenced the Phillip Morris tobacco heating system called IQOS (that’s what was available at the time of writing). Because Thailand looks at all components as being relevant in an HTP not just sticks or (heets) as they are called, but they still fall under the ENDS (Electronic Nicotine Delivery System) whether or not it is used for nicotine or not, the system is still banned. My niece works customs at Suvarnabhumi Airport. I asked her for clarification. She said that if those are declared they will be confiscated and if they are found in baggage charges will be brought. Not just the sticks or cartridge, the machines as well. Projecting from that, I would say they are banned. That said they are trying to change the rules to allow for vaping products and ENDS, there is an Act before the government, (opposed by Health Minister, big surprise) but have not done so yet, you know how long it takes to get anything through. And yes people can do whatever they want, just wanted to put accurate information out there on the legality and risks. I smoke cigarettes and weed so I don’t have an axe to grind. I wouldn’t mind being able to use a vape or other product. I do use them in the US. Enjoy it however you like it. Just be aware there are potential consequences to everything and might want to think it through.
  10. Ok. So many points. The reason for the 50k transfer limit is tracking for taxation. The reason for the differences for Americans, is tied international agreements between the two countries, Americans are the sole exception to the requirement of Thai partnership in a business as well. The motivation factor for the reason being stated is also taxation. Yes I had a refused transfer with no reason from US to my fiancé in Thailand, to Government Bank. I am not sure the amount at this moment, but any amount over say 3000 Baht is supposed to be scrutinized for taxation purposes. Remember a Thai has to pay taxes on every dime they make no matter where that income comes from. Making you use Krusikorn Bank for over 50000 makes that tracking easier. Further if you are buying a condo, or building it is part of the law that the money not only has to be proven to be from out of country for the purchase, but purposed as such. Otherwise the money could have come from anywhere.
  11. Every genuine Thai massage I have had involves what you consider roughness. Thai massage is not just pouring on a little oil and gently rubbing. If you don’t like the way of the massage go to different place, there are a million. Do not change lady in the middle of massage, affects her income and the income of your other choice, and you are right, there would be a face issue, you might even make the next girl uncomfortable if they even allowed it.
  12. Thai time is not Western time. Always remember this Thai word “beua”, bored. Work too hard, beua. Work too long hours, beua. Tight work schedule beua. Not enough money for living expenses, clothes, a couple of beers every night, and to party with friends, beua. Relationship problems in their non work life beua. You hear this word there is trouble and guaranteed your gonna have a runner. Hire 7 employees to cut workload. Don’t work them overtime unless true emergency and ask them for it don’t demand. If overtime, beer. Chang speaks louder than anything else. Hire women only for the easiest of jobs. Don’t pay them lunch money, have one of them run to local carts to get everyone lunch you pay. Different ones every week. Don’t demand change back. Have once or twice monthly parties, beer and hotpot. Always use a Thai middleman or woman. Listen to what that middleman tells you. Have middleman be part of hiring process and ask their opinion of any future employees. Never, never, never directly supervise your workers, but do work with them if necessary and I mean the down and dirty work. If unable to do that, make yourself scarce unless you are bringing them something nice, see above Chang beer. There will still be turnover but it will be a lot less. Another good idea is to show respect to their family, they say they are going home to visit, never hurts to supply a gift for their mother and always take it in stride if they are late returning (Thai time), and why a couple extra employees.
  13. The spirits were right. I distinctly saw a 4 and a 0 in the winning number. Maybe he was too drunk to remember the other one, and the order they were supposed to go in?
  14. Do they come with posted prices for the different crime investigation costs. And is there double pricing for Farang?
  15. Yeah and mentions marriage briefly later in that article. But they’ve been ‘working on it” for years. Must still deal with three readings, etc…
  16. As is he would definitely have a false report charge, and potentially destruction of property. Trespassing not so much.
  17. I am not sure if these posts should stand up. As far as I can determine these are all systems that are illegal under current Thai law. These are all heated delivery systems banned under current regulations. You are promoting them. Smoke your doobs, pipe, or bongs, but don’t promote illegal ways to do it. Like I said, enforcement can be spotty but if they do a crack down look out. Your advice is gonna get people busted. I too like e-doobs but I use them in the US. And yes dry herb vaping is illegal. All ENDS (Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems) are currently banned in the Kingdom. You pays your money you takes your chances, but I’m not sure about promoting or giving illegal advice on the forum.
  18. E-cigarettes are prohibited under several regulatory mechanisms in Thailand. The Medicine Act B.E.2510 (1967) prohibits the manufacturing, sale and importation of modern medicinal products. The Tobacco Products Control Act B.E.2535 (1992) prohibits the importation and sale of products imitating cigarettes. Notification B.E. 2557 (2014) by the Ministry of Commerce bans the importation of e-cigarettes, including those without nicotine. A Consumer Protection Board order bans the sale of e-cigarettes, including those without nicotine. The Customs Act B.E. 2469 (1926) prohibits people from bringing untaxed products into Thailand. There is no explicit law banning the use of e-cigarettes, but vaping is banned where laws prohibit smoking. Although vaping is not banned as such, importing e-cigarette products and selling them are prohibited, and so vapers can still get arrested. Anyone caught breaking these laws can have their items confiscated and be fined or sent to prison for up to 10 years if convicted. In February 2019 the Phuket News reported that a French woman had been arrested, charged, fined, jailed and deported after being caught with an e-cigarette. In Thailand, heated tobacco products are classified alongside e-cigarettes under the Consumer Board Announcement and Ministry of Commerce announcement. Therefore, their sale and importation are banned under the existing regulations This absolutely sounds like a heated tobacco system to me. While Thailand is spotty regarding enforcement, I’ve even seen vape pens for sale in Bangkok, you really are taking a risk. As far as being able to buy, it is as always buyer beware. You buy whatever you want, they’ll sell it to you, doesn’t mean it’s legal to import or use. They’re not the ones busted, you as the purchaser are. Do what you want, but I think the system is actually illegal.
  19. Several benefits for same-sex “marriage”, not so much for same-sex domestic partnerships for foreigners. Unless expats of course. Several issues tied into this. — it is not just the ceremony ( you can do that, meaningless as it is) or even the registration (cannot yet) it is the “recognition” on the part of Thailand, of valid domestic partnerships and or marriages from other countries. Think condos. Inheritance rights. From US think business ownership, investment, etc… — The idea of “marriage tourism” as opposed to “sex tourism” is much more palatable to the Tourist Authority. And brings in “cleaner”, “ family friendly” high quality Baht. Especially, as it can be billed as not just wedding, but also honeymoon destination. — Thailand has been billing itself as a marriage destination for a while now. It would be useful if foreigners, esp. those that come from countries that do not allow gay marriage yet, read: all other ASEAN countries, could get hitched in Thailand for a shorter and cheaper trip than say, having to run to US. Example. A Japanese ( put in your ASEAN country of choice) and American, want to get married and eventually move to US. A lot cheaper to get married in Thailand. Then work on Visa to bring ASEAN husband or wife on family visa. Can get married in US on a tourist Visa but then ASEAN must go back and you must file for Married Visa, often need to wait three years after marriage or looked on with suspicion by US immigration. With marriage Visa comes green card in US. Much much less work to get already done valid marriage recognized in your country of origin.
  20. And you see why I live on my MAC. But seriously it does seem like a driver issue, but can’t rule out hardware issue. You could have a flawed or otherwise incompatible Ethernet card. Thinking about it, manufacturer flaw seems very possible.
  21. I speak English and don’t live permanently in Thailand yet, my fiancé speaks Thai. Our two dogs follow both our commands just fine. Though, I think they may be bitching me out in Thai when I get to our home after an absence. Drives them crazy when I Skype them and they hear my voice but can’t find me.
  22. Plus I’m gay with a Thai fiancé. Since gay marriage is not recognized in Thailand yet, best way for me to go.
