this is off topic but Sky Rojo has scene where a crim microwaves a guy's head

I can't find anywhere in the safety instructions of my microwave oven where it says you should not place 'someone else's' head in the oven. So that's another page of instructions in the next release.

Seriously though, the topic is about safety for which I am wholly in favour of. However those in authority have to look at how successful their attempts at making our lives safer are. The UK banned the sale of knives to under 18 year olds and it never occurred to them that under 18's had access to the household knives , or that only under 18's were committing knife crime.

Thank you for your reply , but I'll give the film  a miss if that's ok.  I'm more of a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs viewer.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe ignoring reality is seen as a shrewd business practice.

I couldn’t ignore the European Green Deal with maritime transport that cost me an extra 10% of my shipping expenses. Had no choice.

Meanwhile my business in in fine shape thanks all the same. Helps being an optimist and working to find solutions rather than problems.

  3. I wonder if the vote had been to remain this topic would have seen 100 pages of defeatist bitterness from the leavers. Always found people that accept change to be more stoic and come through as winners in the end.

    No pain no gain.

PS I run a business in the UK, I ignore the reporting of the economy by the media and get on with my life. Try it you’ll suffer less stress, sleeplessness and fatigue.

Thank you for enlightening me. It's the former I want.Opticians /optometrists. I'm trying to avoid inflated hospital fees.

Hospital fees.  I woke up with an eye infection about 1 year ago blurred vision, swollen but no pain.  I was in Chiang Mai at the time and was directed by hotel staff to go to one of the public hospitals near the airport. I checked in and was seen by a specialist within 30 minutes. She gave me a thorough inspection, then wrote it all down (longhand) on a piece of A4 for reference as she knew I was coming back to Bangkok. 1600 baht including the medication. Personally I was relieved to be seen so quickly, dealt with professionally and on that particular occasion I found the fees more than fair.

  5. I do not believe there would be such a role/service in Thailand. Although the land registry in  Bangkok did value some land we were buying. Once it has a building on the land the  nearest you get will be called a 'purchaser'.

  6. I have a business here shipping 40 foot containers from the UK, up to 4 containers a year of household goods. I have an excellent agent here that I can recommend, you would have to supply a list of the goods you wish to ship and your valuation. The agent will then give you a price for the import documentation and duty payable.

If you pm me with more details I will give you professional advice.

  7. First thoughts are why with only a 20 cm gap it's getting that wet. Usually an overhang of the roof should give the wall some shelter.  Personally I wouldn't want to be creating an additional inner surface as that's just going to trap the water . I ran my own construction business in the Uk and never liked the idea of giving advice if I couldn't view the situation, so if possible find someone with some knowledge and let them view the issue. Finally is there any way to get a roller on a long pole down into the gap to 'treat' the area. If so Thai Watsadu have multiple products that can help with waterproofing.  By the way waterproofing is all you will achieve, most buildings aren't watertight.

Sorry I cant't be of more help than that.

It's a matter of comparing the athletes. You could take NFL, NBA, or NHL players and have them square off against the best in soccer and probably still see a score not too far out of the realm of reason. Put soccer players up against even the worst of those other games and you would have unimpeded scoring just about every play, drive, or rush.

It would be interesting to watch and I would say you would be correct in your conclusion of the outcome. I don’t personally think that it’s down to the athletes if you are referring to athleticism, more that US football has a lot of common elements with Soccer in terms of running, passing, kicking whereas there are elements in the US game that are totally alien to the game of soccer. Just starting with the dressing up in fancy gear would be enough to totally disable any level of competence in a soccer player.

John Harkes was a terrific player.

One other tip. Tell your wife not to take any of her gold with her. Not wise to wear in the city.

My former wife had a 2 baht chain snatched off her neck as she was getting on a bus. The thief was young and easily outpaced her. Cried buckets as well you might. I had frequently told her not too have expensive gold on show as people these days know the value of Thai gold. Had to learn the hard way.

Good advice and whilst on that sorry subject educate her on leaving anything in the car. My wife would (try) to leave her handbag on the passenger seat of the car when we parked up.

With that attitude, better stay in bed, you never know what might happen.

Quite the contrary, I’ve successfully managed to have full employment, better myself, help others and have a meaningful life without the nonsense that 1 party is all good and can never do anything wrong and the other party is immediately wrong in every decision or action they take. It must be a sad life for someone that goes into fits of depression whenever a decision by the party they don’t support slaps 2 pence on a pint of beer.

It’s your choice if you want to wake up every morning of your life when your preferred party isn’t in power and live the day in mourning.

Oddly none of the Government’s usual defenders are to be found in this thread.

Indefensible, even as a non voting conservative,  I agree it’s absolutely wrong. Supports my position in not voting, but also proves my stance in not voting Labour either as we obviously will never know if the same situation would have arisen if Labour had been in power.

Given that the Conservative party are more likely to have a leaning towards business it makes sense they had ‘friends’ that were in business. Doesn’t matter if that is wrong, it’s going to be a fact of life.

There were many issues around the decisions made to mitigate the Covid-19 pandemic. Personally I would have hoped there would have been a greater cohesive policy created and managed by the WHO rather than individual governments that ended up confusing the issue with their divergent opinions and restrictions.

Back to the op, I’ll side with the ‘it was morally wrong’.

Try doing it at peak hour and not at night and you will get the same issues as the OP...you are obviously not a Thailand regular. Taxi drivers are notoriuos for refusing rides to busy traffic areas during the day! OP - will never change, I avoid them like the plague - I have found Bolt MB taxis the way to go.

That explains it, i've only been here 12 years. I've used taxis here at all times of day, and my comment is based on my experience. Maybe the op should change his travelling time to after midnight then.
