  1. That'll be a change from the left wing's constant whining since their November 5 wipeout.
  2. I've never had a problem with the Internet in Thailand. I don't care about free wifi as I would never use it, but most shops do have free Wifi if you care to use it, and major shopping malls too. I have good cellular packages to use when travelling, and 1000/1000 fiber at home. It surprises me that anyone would need anything better, and possibly leave the country for it. You can get much better if you pay for business packages and get dedicated lines (no sharing). It's all here.
  3. It doesn't matter where you end up. There is no paradise where everything is exactly as you like it. Leave Thailand, and after your honeymoon period is over, in a new location, you'll end up finding new problems to complain about. It's quite likely you'll regret leaving Thailand. I'm not interested in living in a one-party Communist (Socialist) state (from 1976) despite some of the advantages being touted on here. I suspect that some expats moved to Vietnam and secretly regret it, and are trying to convince themselves that they made a good decision; moreover, they are still in the Thailand (ASEAN) forum talking about it.
  4. You're talking about special deals that pop up all week through special messages from your provider, but that's irrelevant, as you cannot subscribe to them unless you've been offered the deal. I just happen to be on one myself - 10GB per month at full speed for 100 baht. I've been using it for 2 years.
  5. Why would you need 40 GB per month for reading the news and using Google Maps? I get 10GB per month, and my heaviest use was only 5GB, using it for everything you can imagine.
  6. Whoever told you that is talking nonsense. Your location is irrelevant. You download the app and check the packages of your provider. They will be the same anywhere in Thailand.
  7. Yes, correct. Unlimited packages will come with very slow speeds if they are cheap.
  8. Where in the world would police be able to recover cash stolen from a wallet? How would you prove it? Going to the police station would be a waste of time. Very few people walk around with that much cash these days. 95% of my transactions are debit card or QR transfer. Even food vendors accept QR payments. Having said that, you should be more careful about the company you keep. I could keep 100k in my wallet, and my gf would touch it.
  9. If you're getting too many fake smiles, you might be in the wrong place. Try moving out of the main tourist areas. I can understand how difficult it is for Thais to put up with all the Indian and Chinese tourists, and plenty from the Middle East and Russia. They have to deal with them all day long. I asked my Thai gf, who works in a 5-star hotel in Pattaya, if she likes them. Graciously, she replied, "not too much" LOL Why am I still here? I like it here and don't want to start over in another country after 20 years, even if there might be some advantages. I've never been to Vietnam and don't have a desire to visit. I don't believe your story that in Vietnam they smile genuinely all the time, and that they aren't after your money, and that they really "dig" all foreigners. The desire for money is universal around the world.
  10. You're defending a foreigner who has no respect for Thai elders, calling them "old crows" and "fossils", just because they cannot speak English. The OP most definitely should pack his bags and leave. The sooner the better. I agree that it's cliché when foreigners who complain are invited to leave, but defending this pr**k is a step too far.
  11. Stop living in the dark ages. I don't speak Thai, but I open my Buz App and translate to Thai and vice versa. It makes life easy if you put in just a little bit of effort, and they appreciate it too. Criticising older Thai people for not speaking English is the height of ignorance. Calling an older woman "an old crow" is beyond ignorant; The words I need to define that are banned on here. Regarding optometrists, I could hook you up with one of the best in Pattaya, who speaks perfect English.
  12. You must live in Lala Land. The borders of countries around the world have been shaped by the winners and losers of wars over millennia. It doesn't belong to Ukraine anymore because Russia took it from them, and there is no way to get it back. Ceding territory is the only way this war will end. If any other countries enter this war to help drive out Russia, a Nuclear war is a strong possibility. You're sitting here in safety behind your keyboard. No one is asking you or your family to die in a war that cannot be won.
  13. Ukraine has already lost and is only holding on by a thread due to waning foreign support. Should they give up now, or wait until 100s of thousands more are slaughtered on the battlefield with the possibility of nukes being deployed? Ukraine cannot win this war even with foreign support. They should take the best deal possible and save lives. Every battle has losers - they lost.
  14. Internationally accepted concepts are irrelevant unless there is someone to police them. There is not. China gave the International Court of Justice the middle finger and continues to build islands and military bases in the South China Sea. Your fake nausea and disgust are pathetic. You don't live in the real world. There is no other solution to stop the bloodshed. Ukraine must give up on Crimea and other lost territories.
  15. So you sit around ATMs watching foreigners withdrawing money for their girlfriends. This is something you love to do. This is aberrant behaviour. It's a good thing you're far away in CM. Please stay there.
  16. A few decades ago? Really? I've been here for 2 decades, and nothing has changed. Holding hands is as normal and acceptable today as it was 2 decades ago. Maybe you've been here for over a century. I have no idea how people behaved back then LOL
  17. That's spot on. The media ignore any good news from Trump. The anti-Trump brigade on here will reply to this message something like this, so I'll save them the trouble: "hahaha, you idiot - there is no good news to report".
  18. I also prefer receipts, but I now use my girlfriend's membership, so I made the sacrifice of living dangerously and risking being overcharged LOL... for the greater good of accumulating points on her membership. There are some benefits of using a membership. You can get extra discounts on some items, along with discounts for using some credit cards. For example, a while back, I got a 50 baht discount for using a MasterCard on several occasions. It might balance out for the occasional mistake made at the till. I usually keep an eye on the cash register screen as the items are being scanned. If I hear extra clicks on items, I make an immediate inquiry.
  19. Do you come from another planet? Thai woman love to hold their partners' hands IF they like them. If you have problems with females holding your hand in public, you're the problem. Age difference—no problems. I'm 65, and my 26-year-old girlfriend always wanted to hold my hand. My current 33-year-old girlfriend won't go anywhere without holding my hand. Many casual dates also loved to hold hands. Just use the test. Let her initiate hand-holding. If she doesn't want to touch you or hold your hand, then you're with the wrong lady. I'm always in major tourist locations. I can't speak for what happens in a small rural town, aka Nakonsanowhere.
  20. It makes no difference. If you pay by cash, you would be holding up customers behind you if you were checking it before you left the counter, AND they are all printed in Thai, so checking it can be time-consuming. Looking at the receipt on the 711 app would be equally time-consuming. I use a 711 membership number, so I don't get paper receipts. Most people using commonsense would pay, take the receipt, and look at it after they leave the counter if they want to check it.
  21. Akara has a "double 0" sized egg. They are monsters.
  22. I pay 135 for a tray of Betagro, but that's from the Betagro shop. They are more expensive in the supermarket. There's more to eggs than just size. I like eggs with strong shells that you can boil without breaking. A lot of eggs have very fragile shells, indicating poor laying hen health.
  23. Betagro eggs, a tray of #1 yesterday was 135 baht as usual. Egg prices have gone down for me.
  24. You've lost the plot. This thread is about the USD and whether it's failing or not. I showed hard facts. You're offering lots of blah, blah.
  25. I don't need credibility, I posted a USDX chart which speaks for itself. It shows that the USD is not failing; historically, the current decline is not unusual. This is the main topic of this thread. You're harping on about credibility, but you show none at all, just the typical anti-Trump bs we see on here every day by a disgruntled bunch of losers.
