For those (American citizens) who have no intention to leave the country can you offer a reason why they should get a passport? Personally, I've had a valid passport since the age of 18 and I renew it well in advance of its last 6 months of validity. So why should Americans not planning to leave their country get a passport nok?

Just to be clear, no financial person would consider your 3 million Baht an investment. It's an asset but not an investment. And remember if you have a proper will bequeathing the 3 million Baht to your wife, it can take many months for the banks to probate your will.
