How do you think Thai people REALLY feel about Farangs?
herfiehandbag replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The last may be something of a miracle, given that there was a very widespread rumour that "Yinn" was a (male) Australian practical joker! A theory rather supported by the speed with which "poster of the year" was dropped like a hot potato! -

Luxury brands remove Blackpink Lisa’s photos on social media

She looks a lot prettier in this photograph than in the line up in Paris! I wonder if she is regretting turning down Prayut's altruistic offer of a New Year Eve's date a couple of years ago! -
Thais trapped in Myanmar are safe : government spokesman
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Keeping the troops in poverty is probably not a wise policy, if you rely on them to remain in power - unless it is a short term plan with a clear exit strategy, to reunite himself with his no doubt impressive overseas stache of wealth! -
It is , perhaps, particularly inappropriate to criticise others on the basis of having less funds than you (penniless is a word you seem to like) and to take it upon yourself to dictate ( it is a little bit more than suggest after all) their life choices based upon your perception of their financial circumstances. All without any knowledge of those circumstances, past or present. You are not alone in this but are certainly the most vocal. It certainly, as has been suggested, shows a lack of empathy, it could also be considered arrogant, and coupled with your obvious pleasure in being well able to afford criteria which others may struggle to meet, rather smug.

Entertainment Venues to Open Until 4 AM Starting December 15

No, most of that is 'taken care off" for him by the chaps in a variety of uniforms, green, brown, various shades of blue, and khaki, who put him in "power". Gives him time to concentrate on the essentials. Besides, tourism is one of the few areas in which he has any real freedom to move. -
Trump describes imprisoned Jan. 6 rioters as ‘hostages’
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Is it as catchy as other campaign songs? "Horst Wesel" song for example? To call these convicted criminals "hostages" and inevitably draw comparison with the savage kidnappings in Israel shows eye watering, well, ignorance? An utter lack of empathy and humanity? Self aggrandisement? Or simple imbecility? The fat, lying, cheating, stealing, cheeseburger guzzling, self centred, fascist oaf!- 14 replies

How long does it take to sail a modern container ship from the Andamann Sea around Singapore. Bear in mind that many of the ships already making that journey are already routed further South as they cross the Indian Ocean. Then consider the costs of docking the ship, unloading the containers onto the dock, loading them onto trains, crossing the "land bridge", loading them onto ships again and sending them off again. The sectors which will do well are the well connected land speculators (who I suspect have already moved in), and who will be driving the campaign to build it. I should imagine the managers of budgets, brown envelope retailers and Mercedes Benz dealers are also sniffing the wind in anticipation.

I don't think they really care in the way any of the options you list apply. Individual foreigners they might like, tolerate or dislike for any number of reasons. Rather as individuals like, tolerate or dislike other individuals worldwide. -

Srettha Slammed For Literally Bowing To Paetongtarn
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am a member of another, US based, forum, which boasts that it exists to answer questions and share knowledge. Much of it is rubbish, and I must confess I am losing interest in it. One of the recurrent themes is who bows and curtseys to whom within the British Royal Family. It seems to be a bizarre obsession, do Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie curtsey to the Princess of Wales, despite the former being "blood princesses", and who is the senior. Who cares? Especially as they probably just say "hi" in passing in the corridor! This obsession shows all the signs of becoming a similar irrelevant phenomenon! As another, @geisha, has pointed out it is a pretty standard if old fashioned " hi so" greeting; and after all, Srettha is a long standing family friend (crony if you wish). -
The confused emoji very often is misused by people who don't agree with what you have said but are too idle or unsure of themselves to post a reply. As such it's constant misuse has made it an entirely pointless adjunct to a discussion forum!

House elects Mike Johnson as Speaker, ending GOP chaos
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Perhaps not. But beliefs (which he is on record as expressing) that abortions are being performed up until the time of birth, that Hugo Chavez and Venezuela somehow had taken control of whole tranches of voting machines, and that it was entirely legal and constitutional to replace State's Electoral College electoral panels (after the votes had been cast and counted) with ones which would ignore those votes and vote instead for the defeated candidate; well that does nudge his position a little bit towards "Mussolini"! -
House elects Mike Johnson as Speaker, ending GOP chaos
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
To suggest that the election of Mr Johnson will end the chaos within the Republican Party seems to me, as an observer, a pretty bold assumption. The majority remains razor slim. The lunatic fringe, Gaetz "et al" still retain control of the wrecking ball of one member being able to move a motion to get rid of the speaker. Since that portion of the party resemble nothing if not the fans of the London based Millwall Football Club (motto: "We know you hate us but we don't care") they will probably move again if they don't get exactly what they want. The most urgent task in front of the house is to sort out the funding issue - inevitably we will see more teetering on the edge of shutdowns until a very small number of people get what they want. A number who are beholden to the brooding presence of Mr Trump who would happily allow, and revel in, the most calamitous mess befalling the country, if he thought it would either get him out of his legal entanglements or help him in his campaign. What I do find astonishing is that Mr Johnson espouses views which seem quite removed from mainstream opinion, presumably some Republican seats are vulnerable in a years time, yet he was unanimously supported! It would be fascinating to know to what extent the Republican Party actually represent a majority of the electorates views; yes, the much sneered at popular vote. Given some of the bizarre district boundaries which often follow no real demographic or geographical logic, and the energies turned to vote suppression in many areas, I suspect the breakdown of seats in The House of Representatives doesn't really reflect this. -
