The job being defined of course by Mr Trump! Hells bells, he may even feel the need to install a dynastic successor if age strikes him! Very much the point. A President is just that, he presides over a government, which he has assembled. It might be worth considering the potential teams they are or will be presenting to run the government. Now I suspect, based on quite a lot of the things he has said, that the "Trumpton team" will be selected or rejected as rewards for supporting, or retribution for criticising his personal aims, many of if not all of which are focused on his benefit rather than the countries. What can you do for me, or what can you do for the country?

Bearing in mind your penchant for pedantry, he has been charged with a significant number of crimes in a number of cases. They are yet to come to trial, largely because the Trump legal teams are doggedly attempting to delay the trial dates until after the election, in the hope that if he wins he will be able, by Presidential fiat, to either pardon himself or have the charges dismissed. In parallel he is running a desperate attempt to persuade the Supreme Court to declare that he has immunity. So no, he has not been convicted, because he has yet to go on trial. He may well never go on trial, but if that is the case it will be for reasons other than lack of evidence.

How many times do I have to say it, that exchange had absolutely nothing to do with US domestic food inflation. Nothing at all. Now as for my view of Biden, I think he is by far the best of a very poor choice, but that is my opinion as an observer rather than as a supporter - after all I don't have a vote. Why I am an observer? The USA has constructed itself a niche as the only real economic, monetary and military power. From that niche it projects power globally, and it's various efforts to that end impact worldwide. That is why US politics is of interest to (dare I say) reasonably intelligent and informed observers such as myself.

I'm sorry, but you have lost me there. I was reacting to a discussion on locking up political opponents, and Trump's claims to a blanket immunity to any and all crimes. Where does inflation in food prices in the USA come in to that?

Well I think that she can, although not directly. Miss Swift standing up at a major event and saying vote for Joe Biden, will I agree have relatively little effect, apart perhaps for an uptick in the sales of blood pressure pills to certain sections of the community and creating yet another target to be protected from the lunatic fringe of MAGA politics; but her campaign to persuade young people to register to vote, and to go out and vote, especially young, female, first time voters, could, judging by the numbers it inspired last time, have significant effect, particularly in "swing states"!

I don't really have a view, to be quite honest, not being an American. However the point rather is that a (quite significant) number of Americans, in fact a majority, thought sufficiently highly of her to vote for her rather than for Mr Trump. You clearly regard that majority of voters, although they didn't get their wish due to the bizarre ramifications (in my opinion) of the electoral college system, as somehow deficient. Not that you should really be bothered - after all didn't you recently declare (remarkably) that you have no real interest in who wins;
