  1. The "powers that be" to whom the courts are beholden, certainly in political matters, don't give a fig about the rights and wrongs. Their given task is to keep Pita out of the political arena. Now the current state of flux in politics, with the return of Thaksin, his likely release from " detention" and the almost inevitable return of his sister muddies the water - they may decide to use it as a cover to get rid of Pitta, or they may decide that with Pheu Thai/Thaksin coming back into play, one headache is enough, and to let Pitta back into Parliament. Rest assured, their will be other shots in their locker should they need to deal with him.
  2. A curious mix of extreme domestic political bigotry (California, New York and Martha's Vineyard) and good old fashioned racism (oh my God, they're not white!) Add a strong splash of irony, America's record of invading other countries uninvited, and then a taster, in the sense that many of the countries which they have come from are in a mess because of a) political destabilisation by American policies over the last century and more recently your total unwillingness to control your huge domestic and internationally criminal "recreational drugs" market. MAGA distilled and encapsulated!
  3. Never heard of that - thank you, I will investigate!
  4. The Digital Wallet scheme may cause waves, although the public may view it as having been blocked by others than Pheu Thai. It is after all a very large amount of money, such government largesse is surely for the "good people". Thaksin's release? Well, it is being authorised from very high up indeed, which makes it unwise to mount too concerted a campaign to block it, and the bulk of the population either rather agree with it or don't care. RIpples rather than Tsunami perhaps?
  5. Well your OP rather conveys the message that you wish to "dispose of blood", and you see making a donation as the way to do that! Given the remarkable cocktail of metallic supplements you seem to be taking, I wouldn't be surprised if it rattled if they put it through a centrifuge!
  6. They gather round for their turn.
  7. Of course it doesn't. Nor does it mean that killing them is something that we should do. I have four dogs. The three little ones stay in and around my garden. The big hairy monster is kept on a long rope, which pretty well gives him the run of the garden, and walked on a leash. Every couple of weeks I invest in a bag of dog nibbles and a can of dog flea and tick powder, and wonder around dusting all the local strays. The locals think I am crazy, but seem to appreciate it, as do the dogs. The barking can be a little bit of a problem - the leader of my pack, a Chihuahua, always likes to start a shouting match with the water buffalo which are herded down the soi every morning; after checking over her shoulder that I am there. Funny, she ignores them when they are brought back at night. She also objects to the drinking water delivery man, but I have taught him to say "Snowball, inside"! She turns and goes into the house. I am not a Buddhist but I run with the idea that as sentient creatures they have a right to live. That is the way it is here!
  8. Possibly some of the middle ranking functionaries would like to claim a place on a certain "distribution list"?
  9. They can either carefully extract the stuff, minimising the environmental damage, and investing in sustainable industrial development which will transform the nations automotive industry. Or they can sell the rights to extract it, and allow China to strip it out as quickly as possible and leave a devastated lunar landscape. I wonder which? Phang Nga looks absolutely beautiful; sad to see it all gone in a couple of years!
  10. Thank you for your "congrats". It will be nice to receive it, eventually, however late it will be. I have opted to receive it into my Thai Bank, through International Pensions. It would be nice to be able to communicate with International Pensions... Unfortunately they use a totally unreliable and incredibly slow mail system, an expensive telephone contact system which goes unanswered, and an email system with a ten day delay, and whose answers really convey no information.
  11. 1) Thai Danish pasteurised (a bit hard to get in Chiang Rai). 2)Meiji a close second. 3) Dutch Mill a distant third. If I have to use a carton of UHT, then always go for Thai - Danish men
  12. I live at the end of a soi which leads into a rubber plantation and then to some paddy fields, so no passing traffic. If no one here wants them I might put the on the village "bus stop" for people to helo themselves.
  13. I retired as a teacher two years ago. In my closet I have 10 short sleeve shirts, some worn, some virtually unworn. I will never wear them, so, "free to a good home" as they say. 16" collar, XXL. White, cream and blue. Message me if interested. I can bring them to Chiang Rai city. I hate throwing things away!
  14. I share your aspirations - but would not bank on some sort of "Senate" still being around. Far too useful.
  15. Perhaps they objected to being hit with a stick. Dogs are funny like that!
  16. If the people had been allowed to decide who is in charge, then various election results would not have been overturned, and this whole farce would never have happened.
  17. If they are really going after the overstayers roaming around the country - who are very likely to be amongst the more impecunious of travellers - then they should perhaps be concentrating on the bus terminals! That should be fun over New Year and Songkran! PS. I would pay close attention to the chap in the black and yellow striped shirt in the OP! Definitely trying to be inconspicuous and blend into the background that one!
  18. Before returning to Japan chuckling!
  19. Which, considering that UNWRA has very close links with HAMAS, perhaps even to the extent of being an enthusiastic partner in its military antics, if not effectively a fully incorporated subsidiary, is perhaps not a boast to make too often!
  20. Well a lot of the forum members are US citizens - and naturally Trump will very much be on their minds.
  21. I don't think there is any need to ask your wife. You rather stand condemned from your own postings! You do look silly.
  22. Yes, it is a profession. I was for many years an officer in the British Army. An artillery officer. My duties in the field revolved around identifying targets and engaging them with fire from artillery (canon), mortars, aircraft, attack helicopters, and even occasionally naval vessels. The part involving aircraft and armed helicopters was "Forward Air Controlling (FAC)". It was done by radio or latterly computer link over radio, from a static observation post, or on foot if working with infantry, or a vehicle accompanying armour, or even occasionally from a light observation helicopter. That is what an FAC does. Now if you have never been in the army, fine. If you don't under stand the skills used, fine. But if, as @Morch suggests you run your mouth off in this way then you just make yourself look silly and ignorant. I have no idea where nurses come into the whole matter.
  23. Experienced ground attack pilot or Forward Air Controller are you? I've been an FAC. To claim that "dumb bombs" and other unguided munitions are inherently inaccurate is <deleted>. No one wants to "carpet bomb" these days. Apart from the inevitable civilian casualties ( which apart from the frothy mouthed propagandists for Hamas), no body wants, a completely rubbled and largely impassable built up area is not an environment in which any modern army would wish to fight. The advantages are all with the defender
