If that is the case, and all they can afford is a few old folk to hang around for a month, then perhaps funds are low! Perhaps Suthep's ruthless fund raising marches of a few years ago are affecting donations? You will remember, he rampaged around Bangkok whilst his acolytes "encouraged" traders to empty their tills into black plastic bags? Memories can be long where money is involved, and there was never any coherent explanation as to where the cash went. I suspect it may have put the mockers on the anti-Thaksin fund raising campaigns!

I'm not sure how you classify a "rock star" as woke! I must confess that aspiring to love and peace, however unrealistic that may be, is in itself a particularly bad thing. But never mind, she is undoubtedly very influential with young people, and a Democrat supporter to boot. That of course is her right, and nothing to do with a Pentagon instigated psychological campaign to back Mr Biden. Where she is a threat to "The Trumpeteers" is that her encouragement of young people to register to vote, and to vote, was very successful. If, as is likely, she returns to this campaign it may, in the closely fought "swing states", be to Biden's advantage. A new cohort of young first time, probably liberally inclined voters, that, I imagine, worries them, particularly where the race is close!

Yes, I very much agree, however, America wields such exceptional power militarily and economically that the likely affect of the probable Horlicks he will create will impact world wide. With great power goes great responsibility. If you take it upon yourself to project your power worldwide then you must take on that responsibility; otherwise you are just throwing your weight around. Anyway, back to today's Democrat muse, and MAGA antichrist, the lovely Miss Swift, does she have real political ambition, and the powerbase to go with it, (looking at the cluster**** which seems to be arisng in American politics and public life, having teenage girls running the show might not be such a bad idea!) or is she just guilty of just daring to hold an opinion?

Absolutely. Carter is a decent honest man. Come to that, Regan, whatever you think of his political policies, was also essentially a decent man; the reality TV host and serial bankrupt, who today is revealed to have been using eye watering amounts of the money donated to his political campaigns to pay his equally astronomical legal fees, well I am not so sure.

The cynic in me notes that Germany in the 1930s was marked by a wide variety of party sponsored "bunds" and movements, membership of which was essential to operate successfully in a wide variety of entertainment, cultural, sporting and social fields. If you were in any way aligned with the then political opposition you were eventually forced out of existence. Perhaps that time is coming again: MAGA alignment to become a central part of these areas of life? Red hats rather than brown shirts... Just missing.

Us simple pongoes refer to them as windows. Although of limited intellect, and primarily concerned with carrying heavy weights, we do understand that it is generally advisable to keep them firmly closed when bobbing around on the oggin"! -
How do you feel about photography?
herfiehandbag replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Well it is a damned sight easier and quicker than sketching or watercolours! -
I think there are clear grounds for appeal. Is it not the case that one is entitled to be judged by a jury OF YOUR PEERS. There was not one loudmouthed orange dyed self proclaimed billionaire on that jury panel, not one!

Pita unveils the Move Forward party’s strategic roadmap for 2024

I doubt whether he has even given it a thought. If you look at the tax codes, thresholds and various allowances and exemptions it will have, at most, a marginal effect upon the vast majority of Western expatriates. It will effect those wealthy Thais playing the "keep their money working overseas game"; and probably lead to a whole new genre of lucrative accountancy, both formal and informal, which will not touch upon expatriates. Mind you, cries of "tax my pension and I will be off" do inject a certain drama into the discussion! -
School near Nakhon Phanom town has only one teacher
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
In truth, if she is a competent diligent teacher, those 19 children are quite possibly receiving a better primary education than if they were in a class of 30 peers with one teacher per class, especially if she briefs and uses her helpers carefully. -

1) Unstable (top heavy) due to extensive "after fit" of additional weapon systems. 2) Poor seamanship in heavy seas. -
Yes - my local hospital ( Wiang Chiang Rung) sent me in an ambulance to the government hospital in Chiang Rung. I had a badly infected wound on my foot which was festering very rapidly. Immediate surgery, followed by a further operation a couple of days later, two weeks in hospital. Nobody even mentioned money until the day I was due for release. I payed 60% of the not unreasonable charge, the balance was sorted out in half an hour with a payment plan to run for the next few months, and I went on my way, if not rejoicing, certainly financially relieved. Surgery was good, treatment and care was fine, food was crap!

"Tops" (Central Plaza) has a fairly good range of " British Items" . They have some sort of tie in with Waitrose. I presume that Waitrose send them a regular container load which is then broken down and sent off around the country. Fascinating to see what Waitrose regard as "essentials"!

Sort of defines commercial optimism really - stocking British biscuits because there is a British cemetery down the road!😉
