  1. Auto production has slowed due to 'parts shortage'. Toyota closed three plants in June.
  2. The fundamental question is, will I be as effective as a boss like my dad was? And I will be, even more so? But until I am, it's going to be hard to verify that I think I'll be more effective.
  3. The soap opera continues. Mob justice will soon take over by the looks of things. Starting to heat up in Bangkok now.
  4. Legal immunity to health workers fair enough but no reason those in charge of vaccine procurement should be given legal immunity although I suspect we all know the reason for it. It's increasingly looking like a mob will end up doing the job of the courts.
  5. I agree. It's too difficult for them to implement effective inter-provincial controls properly so they just won't bother. The roadblocks set up on Sukhumvit in Banglamung, Pattaya lasted about two days.
  6. Ominous. Yet still, markets are crowded, people will not distance from me in shops (7/11 etc.) and I see crowds gathering outside banks and other services with apparent no cause for concern because... they are wearing masks?
  7. Oh dear. Cases still on the up and up, day after day, week after week.
  8. This is going to be a daily occurrence soon, on rising dissatisfaction with this government and no let up in the COVID crisis. Hard times ahead.
  9. Is it a competition? Maybe they will do better than their abject Olympic performance. ????
  10. It's happened before. Hopewell, Walter Bau plane seizure etc. They pretty much do what they want and then end up losing with international arbitration i.e. ICJ ruling on Preah Vihear.
  11. Amazing that the coup supporters and Thaksin obsessives are still on here trying to give advice and opinions as if they are experts even though they were so spectacularly wrong and continue to spout the disproven Sondhi yellow shirt propaganda that made all this mess possible.
  12. What about Police chiefs in the US? Lets compare like for like.
  13. It's a shame that whenever there is a Royal Enfield Interceptor or Continental GT thread the same nonsense about the Himalayan is always posted. A few scare mongering articles aside the RE Himalayan is a very reliable and sturdy machine. Check out Itchy Boots channel on YouTube. She did 35,000kms across 35 countries over 8 and a half months on one, with only minor issues. I would suggest all the slagging of Royal Enfield is being done by folk that haven't ridden one, and the new 650 twins are great and reliable bikes, evidenced by their sales and all the positive reviews. British designed by ex-Triumph employees and built in India with a new factory opening in Thailand. Of course the Triumph Bonny was heavily influenced by the original RE Interceptor from the 60's, but that's for another thread...
  14. A great list mate and these are mostly over ten years old but honourable mentions must go to the Saudi crown jewels and blue diamond, corruption and murder at Kaset sugar mill, theft of tsunami relief funds, foetus graveyards at Bangkok temples, NGV buses for Bangkok, Salween logging, Raluek Leekpai embezzlement case, the blimp, Kamnan Poh the Godfather of Chonburi, Bangkok International Film Festival bribery, Thai Airways overtime scam, etc. Good to pinch ourselves and remember where we are now and again.
  15. What was the point of the protests (all paid and organised by Thailand most corrupt politician Suthep) to oust an elected government? It was to cause instability and the pretext for another coup. What was the point of the coup? We can't really discuss it properly here, but I can tell you it wasn't against corruption, rice schemes or any other allegations against the Yingluck Govt. If you believed that it was, you are sadly out of your depth when discussing Thai politics.
  16. I think this is now very much a big worry. There's no safeguard any more as there was in 1991/2 when Suchinda took over. Set in motion in 2005 and gradually getting incrementally worse with each step backwards as they see the only way is absolute authoritarian control. Predictable, but the Thaksin obsessives couldn't see the wood for the trees.
