It's far too much compared to plenty of other places.

Nobody will come and the rules will change, the only unknown is how long it will take for them to catch on.

Sorry to tell you I arrived on the 1st April, returning after 3 years and loosing my wife's Father some months ago, and not being able to get here I had a FULL flight and Hundreds of people with NO social distancing trying to find a Hotel Rep outside the arrivals area on level 2 at swampy.

  2. Well after a issue with the check-in staff at Heathrow over pre-departure test, we finally got here, T&G is not so bad, arrived at the hotel at about 18.00 took the PCR test and was told result by 01.00 am, it actually arrived at 03.00 all clear and free to go????????. Travelled to Buriram only to find that the local Ampur can decide what he wanted, and although the government said acceptable a PCR test and the statement that is TEST & GO, I then found out that I had to stay home for 2 days before I could leave my house. So welcome to Thailand the place that used to be known as the Land Of Smiles, it still holds the abbreviation L.O.S. but nowadays it stands for the Land Of  Scared people. ( But at least I made it home, and should be thankful for small mercy's.

  3. Well! I have just returned from the Finnair ticket desk in LHR ( I live nearby so was easier than waiting 2 hours plus for the phone to be answered)

Although Thailand has lifted the need for pre-departure tests from 1st April they have not bothered to tell the airlines, so I still require a PCR test for next weeks departure but wife and son traveling on Thai passports do not.

    That's up to date @ 15:00 24/3/22.

I arrive on April 1st, but depart March 31 so still need the test ????

Not sure, I have tried to find out but to no avail as yet, I will try and contact Finnair later this week, because as I read it it says " No departure PCR required for Int arrivals from 1st April" so as long as you arrive on the 1st, in theory you shouldn't need a pre departure PCR.

Someone should let the Thai embassy know, the UK embassy still has no link to application for test and go. We booked a flight on Dec 19th for the Mrs to fly out on Jan 10 only for them to cancel all applications from Dec 20th which stopped going as the confirmation didn't arrive before we could get hers in. That has cost me over £200 and now we have to pay for another test costing a further £100 so all in all at present I'm going to be  £300 down. No doubt the flights will be more expensive now too. I read all the time on here, people banging on about the tourists , what about the poor Thais trying to get home to see their families. Poor lass hasn't seen her ailing mum for 3 years  and unless they relax the entry restrictions then I may never see my mother in law again. If I go in April as originally planned I cant afford to stay in BKK for 6 days waiting on a 2nd test. There are no SHA+ hotels up in Isaan for me to check into on the 5th day , so 6 days in BKK puts £600+ on to my visit. I doubt the TAT realise that a hell of a lot of their tourists actually arn't  toutists but are spouses and when these spouses visit they spend more than most tourists as they generally  have a weeks holiday and then spend money treating their inlaws. I would guess between the Mrs and myself we spend over £3k in the month we are usually there but that will not happen if its costing us an extra £1k just to get into the place .

I have a similar problem however, depending on where you are in Issan there are SHA plus+ hotels in Korat, Buriram and some other places I believe
