  1. Sabu Sabu Natural Products..they have an online website describing their natural products including sunscreen lotion. They sell in several retail outlets around Chiang Mai, just check the website for a place near you.

    Thanks so much

Checked the website out and will head down to a Rimping today.

Once again, i greatly appreciate the info.

  2. Hi All

Moved back to LOS recently with the family and have a 15 yr old daughter who is worried about her skin ( fair enough ).

We need to buy some sunscreen, although i have steered away from the major brands due to the aluminium and other chemicals used in them.

In Australia there were a few products which were natural and quite effective.

Visited the local Chemist and they did not really have any natural option.

Anybody have any ideas on where i may pickup a suitable product for UV Skin Protection.

    Any input appreciated.

    Regards

  3. Hi Everyone

Thanks so much for all the info.

Will be heading to Makro and Big C to check out the puff pastry.

My wife will also be having a shot at making her own pasta after watching the videos.

She did however ask has anyone seen 1. A Domestic Bread Machine and 2. Pasta Maker in the shops.

    Once again thanks so much.

She has been asked to help with the family resort in Mae Hong Son making Western food. Its just been bit of a challenge getting setup.

Ive tried sourcing western wholesalers, such as the Sausage King etc but other ingredients are becoming more of a challenge.

We will get there in the end I guess.

    Thanks again

  4. Hi

Just moved back with the family to CM after 7 years

My Thai wife has become quite the cook for western food during our 7 years in Oz

Few things she cannot find, even in Rimping is the frozen fill pastry she uses to make sausage rolls with. Has anyone seen this available anywhere?

The other product she is keen to find is fresh pasta pastry for making Lasagne

Any ideas or help on this would be much appreciated as both myself and the kids are missing her food after been back for nearly 3 months now

    Cheers

  5. Hi All

Ive just moved back to Thailand from Australia where i sold my business.

I need to help the new owners of my old Biz for a while with customers etc.

I find myself needing to sms people back in Oz from Thailand.

I was wondering what the cheapest way to do it was? Using AIS or Skype or is there any other online service available these days.

    Any help appreciated.

  6. Hi

    Update on situation.

Wife, kids and myself just went down to Chiangmai Immigration to find out the best option.

To be honest they were great. Very nice people and said no problem. I had to pay the fine for the overstay for 7 days and then another $1,900 baht for an additional 30 days.

This suited me fine as i need to go back to Oz for 4 days in the next month anyway and they advised when i get back to get a Non O visa from the Embassy in Sydney. They gave me the paperwork on what i will require and told me to contact the Oz Embassy prior to my leaving for Oz to confirm if they will do it without my wife been there.

All in all i was quite impressed with CM immigration and it was not stressfull at all.

I really appreciate all the info above from the members on this site, especially from Ubonjoe.

    Thanks again to everyone.

    Cheers

  8. You will not be blacklisted for your overstay. That is complete nonsense you were told.

The overstay fine is 500 baht a day.

Not sure what they were telling you at embassy. You need a visa to get more than a 30 day visa exempt entry.

I suggest you go out for a non-o visa based upon marriage. Either a single or multiple entry visa is possible.

If you are planning to stay long term you can apply for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage, You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income. To apply for this you would just need a single entry non-o visa and then apply for the extension of stay during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry from the visa.

You can apply for the single entry non-o in Vientiane or Savannakhet Laos or Penang Malaysia.

If not then you could apply for a multiple entry non-o visa that would give 90 day entries for a year. You can get one in Savannakhet Laos. with no financial proof.

    Hi

Thanks so much for the clarification.

So I need to get the Non-O Visa outside of Thailand?

Would Penang in Malaysia be the cheapest place to fly too?

Also we have scanned copies of our marriage certificates etc but our real paperwork is in Mae Hong Son and im currently in Chiangmai with the family.

Do you think they will give the visa based on photocopies in my computer?

    Really appreciate your help.

  9. Hi All

    Big problem.

Ive returned to Thailand with my thai wife and two kids to stay and we have misunderstood the chap in the Oz Embassy re visa.

We understood from him we had 90 days initially ( without a proper tourist visa ) and then i had to apply for the marriage visa within 90 days of been here in Thailand.

Went to an old friends for dinner last night and he advised me that i have messed up and only have 30 days initially on an Oz passport.

    Im now 7 days over.

we range immigration and all they said was i have to fly out today and hope i dont get blacklisted. Not sure what the fines are? and how long the blacklisting is. We just bought a car and have our container arriving soon so we are a bit freaked out.

If i get blacklisted i will not be able to be with my wife and kids.

Any clarification or help on my situation would be most appreciated.

  10. Hi

I did live in Thailand 8 years ago for a period of 7 years.

At the time I had a business in Australia selling homewares and I was exporting a great deal of Thai product. I was on a business Visa for the 7 years although still had to leave on border runs every 3 months.

I got married in 2006 and did the correct paperwork with the government etc. At the time i did not try for any other visa , as I just used my business visa.

Have been back in Oz for past 7 years with my Thai wife and two kids, who have thai and oz passports ( wife does too ).

Thinking of selling my current biz in Oz and having a year or two in Thailand just relaxing and giving the kids a taste of Thai life and school. My wife misses home as well.

I may export some product again to Oz and wife has connections in Oz Consulate, so I could just get another year business visa I suppose, although with the new regs am worried that I will be unable to do this again.

Is there any visa for a foreigner who is married with two kids to stay in Thailand more than 30 days? Up to a year at a time?

Any help appreciated on this one.

    Cheers

  11. Hi All

Have been up in CM for two weeks travelling around and have arrived in Bangkok for 4-5 days.

Quite a change and not sure, apart from shopping, what we could do.

We are heading to chatachuk markets today as its the weekend so thats one day.

Our Thai friends have advised not to worry about the theme parks here like Dreamworld etc as compared to the Australian ones we have already visited the Thai ones are old and run down and we will be disappointed.

With this in mind we are at bit of a loss what to do with the kids while here.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 6 year old boy and a 12 year old daughter who is thankfully still acting like a little girl and not trying to be an 18 year old teenager.

Appreciate any suggestions and thanks in advance.

    Regards

  12. Hi All

I was the original poster on this question so thought i would give an update.

We got 4 bottles of wine thru customs in Chiang Mai. They didnt seem interested in checking any of our bags at all, instead were interested in only talking to our kids and telling us how good looking they are.

    Got to love Thailand!

    Cheers

  13. Hi All

About to head to CM with family and want to take a few bottles of Oz Wine with us for friend and family.

I know it used to be two bottles per adult ( not sure if the kids can bring as well ) .

Is it still the same? A bit worried about the customs at CM taxing our stash!

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  14. Hi All

Just wondering if there are any good quality camping/outdoor stores in Chiang Mai for quality equipment and clothes.

Also wondering if they have larger sizes like size 38 or is it generally all the small Thai sizes.

    Cheers for any replies
