Construction, fishing, packing in CP foods, and logistics at FTZ areas near Suvarnabhumi Airport are mainly done by Cambodians, as Thais, even those who are jobless, don't want to do them.

Thai people only want to make a lot of money for a light and easy clean job, but nobody like to work for simple work with a lower salary... They are too lazy.. I had some construction works and a Thai came and wanted to do the job, and I had to pay him , but he did not do anything and brought another worker for it... just to say... But I got the phone number of the man and now when I need to do something I contact him directly and he is happier as he earns more now as the intermediator is gone..just to say

No they're not. Plenty of ex-pats working in I.T., logistics, oil & gas, wealth management, insurance, banking and manufacturing to name but a few. In fact the 'Thai only' job list is actually pretty small and centers around low level roles such as masseuse, hairdressers etc. Here's a list if you really want to know

Indeed.. "normal" work is all restricted only the high end education jobs are available as Thai people are and can't be educated for that.. Nevertheless most foreigners are not the high end workers here as they can earn much more in other countries... I always talk in general, common people... even volunteer jobs are not allowed in Thailand, to do by retirees and in fact even not allowed to work in your garden or even cleaning your house... Nobody will complain, but according to the law it is forbidden...

I sure hope I dont see any of you retired expats selling noodles from a street cart or giving out oil massages for 150 baht a hour to tourist..Or selling the goods ST/LT on beach road in Pattaya, or at the Nana car park......These jobs are reserved for Thais....

Every job is reserved for Thais... Protectionism of the labour market will not bring the country forward

Upon returning to the restaurant, he alleged that the injured man brandished a firearm tucked into his waistband and physically assaulted him by grabbing him by the neck, leaving visible red marks. The man then allegedly drew his weapon, prompting Mr Phisek to fire his gun in what his father described as an act of self-defence.

What else would you bring to a gunfight?

If he is a calm and respectful man I am still wondering why he has a gun at him.. From your story it is clearly that they were not so respectful and calm...with problems returning to the restaurant?? That is not good idea in a quarrel to go back,

They were being chased for their failure to stop at a police check - not for their failure to wear a helmet.

Failure to stop when instructed to may have many reasons (carrying drugs, outstanding warrants etc.). It is considered a far more serious crime in law than failure to wear a helmet and warrants more than a ticket.

Totally agree, but it looks like Comedy Capers and not worth doing it... Just note their license plate .. safe for everybody including the RTP

Travel insurance always asks about previous medical issues it is one of the questions when applying for cover. If you choose to ignore or lie then god help you when you go to claim if you do as it will be refused if it is about a previous ailment you did not declare and some insurance companys will refuse on the grounds you lied on the application form. That is a 100% fact. And by the way travel insurance is medical insurance that’s why you get it to cover for accident or sickness cover.

OK.. My insurance company never asked it me

Not true. If you have prior health problems it costs a small fortune to get insured. Sometimes even more than the actuall holiday

I don't agree.. It sounds like a health insurance instead of a travel insurance.. They have never aske me for a travel insurance what health problems I have.. I can imagine that some things are not covered, but an insurance is mostly based on the uncertainty it can happen and a life or health insurance want to know which problems you have/had before accepting you as the possibility that the sickness must be treated is bigger.

  8. When are going people use their common sense?? Early morning an accident with a vehicle from Chumpon... Of course the driver was tired and maybe sleepy... Driving at night needs more energy than during daytimes, known all over the world. and in the early morning hours most accidents occur... Make rules for trucks and overloaded pickups with tachographs installed so they are not allowed to drive more than 2 hours and than take a rest of 30 minutes or so... Read today this forum how many accidents are mentioned

  9. I think it is time to review some laws, as there is a need of people like this.... Of course everything according to the new laws, but be fair opening a business with a sharehold of 51% for Thais and the investor only has the minority of 49% of the shares is not inviting new businesses. Besides that tourguides are a protected Thai occupations and no foreigners are allowed to do it and you can only hire 1 foreigner on 3 Thai employees.. It is not of the 21st century anymore. The lazy Thai people are being protected but are keeping the country away from going forward.

No they are not, some prices are BTW included others aren't. Have a proper look at a receipt when you buy more expensive items.

I am sure in The Netherlands there is always included, and on the bill you can see how much VAT is included... If I pay 1000 euro I pay 1000 euro and not 1210 euro, as the VAT is 21% for luxury goods....and a s a tourist I can ask for a special bill to get the VAT back at the airport. And if I am in Spain I can get a meal for 25 euro and that is included VAT not service charge, and it is mentioned in the menu that service charge will be added
