  1. It doesn't sound like being a Bolt driver is in any way relevant to the crime, that is just low quality reporting.
  2. I don't think it will be possible to put the cat back in the bag, besides it's probably less damaging than alcohol.
  3. I'm fine with immigration getting tough on criminals, but I wish it wouldn't get harder and harder for the majority of foreigners trying their best to comply with all the rules/laws. In Europe you can get permanent residence after just 5 years of living there legally. I've been here for more than 20 years and still get treated like a potential criminal despite having paid more in tax than 10 average families and never broken any laws.
  4. On one hand I'd ban Tuktuks from city centers as they're polluting, loud and dangerous, but on the other hand they're part of the authentic Thailand experience.
  5. Negotiating the fare is part of the authentic TukTuk experience. Expect to pay the same (or more) than a nice Toyota airconditioned taxi.
  6. I used to attend some of the Nana Plaza meetups with K. Sanuk and Stickman, good fun, but that was like 20+ years ago. Mostly just sexpats eating burgers and drinking beer while chatting about their time in Thailand.
  7. I always withdraw some money, then ask for a statement letter in Thai saying I'm the account owner and the account holding, and then I get a 3 months printout of all transactions. This costs just 200 thb at Bangkok Bank and takes 10 minutes.
  8. Some years ago I was between non-b visas and did exempt entries every 30 days, however it took longer than planned and after like 6 times I was red flagged by the software they have at the airport immigration. Too much in-out in-out (that's what they told me) .. I was thinking that's none of their business ????, but they meant too many exit and re-entry without a visa. Had to spend like 2 hours getting interrogated and them trying to find a good reason why they should ban me from entering until they let me enter with a written warning in my passport that I need a visa next time.
  9. It used to be: you walk into any small clinic, the doctor looks at you, might even probe you with his stethoscope on the outside of your shirt, then say: all good. You pay THB 50-100 and you got a shiny new health certificate for your work permit or drivers license. But of course if you want a proper evaluation of your health you walk into a reputable hospital like Bumrungrad, get the full checkup package (THB 5k) and they'll give you xrays, ekgs and draw like 7-8 vials of your blood plus a <deleted> sample for lab tests and provide you with a long report of your current health status together with a consultation to run over the results and provide you with a health certificate. I've done both and I think the second option is well worth it unless you're in a hurry or on a very tight budget.
  10. Unsolicited advise, consider getting a dynamic microphone instead of a condenser if you don't have a super quiet studio environment.
  11. Thanks that's very helpful, we live just a few km outside Rattanaburi so we'll be driving through Surin city, I'll try get the banking details done there. I didn't know about the new immigration in Surin, but I think I'll try Kap Choeng even it's a bit further away, sounds like it's more established. Cheers, Jake Thanks, It's a shame they closed their Bangkok Bank branch, but I'll get it done in Surin city instead. Sounds like Kap Choeng is a bit more laid back than Bangkok and not having to wait in line for 4 hours is a big plus. Cheers, Jake
  12. Tragic, that's a terrible way to go, rip. When I woke up this morning around 6am it was 16C outside.
  13. Another quick question, is there a Bangkok Bank branch in Kap Choeng where I can update my bank book and get a letter? I did check on Google Maps, but it wasn't really clear, there is something marked as a Bangkok Bank branch, but it looks like a residential building in a small moo baan. Thanks, Jake
  14. Greetings, Wife and I recently moved from Bangkok to Surin and it's time to apply for a non-o extension of stay based on marriage at the end of this month. We are renting a house here and we did the Section 38 app registration together with the owner to make sure it would get done. From what I've gathered I need to travel to the immigration in Kap Choeng for the extension. I wonder if there are any differences in the requirements/procedure compared to Bangkok, perhaps if anyone got experience with non-o at Kap Choeng could share some tips and advise. Thanks, Jake
