  1. I'd move to less expat-oriented area sooner.

If I had it to do over again I would have shacked up with the 17year old bar girl who was prettier by far than any other on soi 4 and whose magnificent rack overshadowed anything that did not have silicone in them.. It was her first night and I have cried over her for 8 years. She promised me that they had no sick water buffalo that was gonna die so please by me another one, and that mama and all her brood were not in the hospital and needed 30,000 baht each for surgery. Or I would have married my wife's beat friend who is the presonnification of a nympho and the best snuggle bunny I am ever likely to find in the complete world. That is just what I would have done concerning the past 8 years.

Before that, when here in 68, I would have shacked up with the big breasted bar girl for a full year instread of just when I could. Her boyfriend was TDy almost all the time so he paid the bills and I got the pleasure.

In 1970 I should have tried marrying the big breasted house girl who did our cleaning in Vietnam. She was a 26 year old widow and I was in love with her' alas a long lifetime ago but not forgotten.

Now, I am married to a small breasted Thai farm girl who has never worked the bars but her big breasted sister has, so when I feel the need to set my eyes on some firm large hooters, I can always see Ann and relive those days when I thought big breasts ruled my world.

Or I might go to India and try those beautoful women before making anotheer life decision. I have been partial to their skin tones and looks for about 25 years too...

    Beautoful sir!

  2. Speed-freaks on yaa baa sitting on the top of Thapae Gate with a knife to the throat of a young girl or a baby threatening to kill them. I saw this a few times before Thaksin killed so many drug dealers. The drug problem seemed much worse back then.

Thaksin certain;y knew how to conduct the war on drugs. i personally think that things have become as bad as they were before, pre-Thaksin.

Yeah nothing in the world smells like that, yaa baa in the morning, they were so much slimmer then.

  3. Only get to spend each second...minute.....hour once....best to make it well spent and memorable....

So if a 'now' moment is memorable, that future moment spent remembering will not be spent in the 'now'?

Yes you'll be in the now remembering the moment that was in the now.

  4. I felt stuck in the Uk,emigrated to Australia, after 15 years felt stuck there came to Thailand now feel stuck here,i guess i am a stucker.

Nah, that's 2 too many moves for a stucker.

  5. Orderd chops, sauteed potatoes, fried veg served with gravy one time and it did arrive but no chops. Apparently the chops were as pointed out to me by the waiter with a chopping motion of his hands indeed refered to the chopped onion gravy.

  6. Simpy put Iata govern the fares on internation travel with scheduled airlines who don't allow discounting to try and maintain standards etc, they do however "turn a blind eye" on airfares where there is a more steady supply on that particular route.

Someone else stated supply and demand and that is exactly what it is.

Have edited to input it's also key to where you are as well, searching on the web isn't always the best way to ensure you get the best price. If you're in Thailand I would also try high street agents as they may have access to a consolidated airfare on the route you want to book.

  7. Here's a link to an Evernote scan of the place. Shucks, the proprietor will even come by your door and rap on it at the appointed time, if you request it, I'm sure. Just leave allowance for "Thai time."

The scan is a Thai business card which is in Thai, with a map on the back, which you can show to your taxi driver.

The "taxi + #" is a driver who knows where the place is.

    Good luck!

Useful information if arriving after a longhaul, nice little place to get a shower and a nap possibly. If coming in from a domestic flight then surely a couple of beers, bag of crisps and the bangkok post. Is that available at such an hour ?

  8. Is the best idea you got a run of the mill Guesthouse?

Er.. yes. Some GHs make money you know...

    Simon

    Owner/builder of:

    Phuket Airport Hotel

    Phuket Airport Overnight Hotel

    Phuket FLY Guesthouse

    Phuket 24/7 Hotel

    Phuket Airport B&B

    Ao Nang VIP Hotel

    Phuket Airport VIP Guesthouse

    Just saying.... smile.png

seriously sir. does op sound capable? for buddhas sake, his idea of business is his wife cooks edible meals.

2nd serious-ness....lol.. why do so many say they want to make enough bahts just to get by. Can you forcast profit to 8000 baht a month. Seems a good way to guaranttee lose your investment.

just going by income metric one would need to at least clear a teechers salary-one would think.

Hell- a million usa dollars would get you @ 2% interest . withdraw that and $10,000 of principal would last you forever and a legacy to boot.

ps it aint that hard to accumulate 1m$ in usa if you understood basic finance and started saving n investing right out of skool!

    Choochoo

    You make many assumptions.

Perhaps like other considering the same have already made money in the western world and just want a semi retirement without getting rich but more as a pastime and social activity.

If it pays the way all well and good.

A guest house would be an ideal semi retirement. And yes my wife cooks fantastic food and really enjoys cooking. So what is the issue in using those skills in a guest house. I would say quality catering is an important factor.

    Cheers for your input

Sent from my GT-N7100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

    Nong Khai why not.

  9. Called TG, said there was code share between Bkk and HK with AC, and said to allow 2 hours or more to connect. But they said they don't know where the AC gate is, only that TG will arrive in HK in terminal 1. Told me to call AC: 027181839.

The flight I am looking at is from expedia.

Sorry if this sounds abrupt but would give expedia a call since they are selling the ticket

  10. Likewise to an earlier question where the OP was specific in mentioning booking their filghts on seperate tickets.

If the fare on this ticket is a code share between AC and TG it will meet the MCT (minimum connection time) it's a case of touchdown to boarding next flight without the need to collect baggage in this instance if there is a delay then Thai will be obliged to get you out on the next available.

Before you buy give them a call to make sure the fare is all booked on one ticket.

  11. I'd say it's plenty of time and you should be fine.

If there is a delay though then there are no obligations regards to the onward carrier since you have booked on seperate tickets so don't take it for granted you will be transferred to a later flight should this happen.

Also the preceding airline aren't obliged to check your baggage through to your final destination but there is no harm in asking at check in.

  12. Once visited a friend in Si Saket who I had known from childhood in the Uk, while there I took a ride around the area on a scooter and I swear one lovely sunny afternoon I was in the middle of nowhere taking a rest sat on the bike on a country lane sipping orange juice sitting back and saw a figure from a distance riding up the lane, fairly isolated just me and them prepared my pleasant smiley face. Was only looking for a nod or a gesture.

It turned out the up coming figure was a male a similar age to me and western peddling away, looked him in the eye with a nod was expecting at least a hello back. Nothing. A complete blank like I wasn't even there?

It's like I am the only farang in the village type F U "king bollo"ks.

Not sure why this is with certain parts of Thailand but you get the sense i am not sure how to put it "lack of camaraderie"

Mosey on through and get off my patch!

  13. It just seems to be too good to be true normally a fare that low between uk and bkk wouldn't exist not on IATA standards not even on a special I a have just done a search and indeed it came out to around £300 return flights:

London para Banguecoque qua 8/10/2014 - qua 22/10/2014
    Partida: Chegadas em 9/10/2014
    Retorno: Chegadas em 23/10/2014

    1 Passagem: Ida e volta

    Exibir detalhes do voo

    • Viajante 1: Adulto R$1.046,53
      • Voo R$606,76
      • Impostos e Taxas da companhia aérea R$439,77
    • Expedia Taxa de reserva R$123,00
    Total: R$1.169,53
Todos os preços foram cotados em Real brasileiro.

Normally tax alone would come to this cost.

  14. PS the boat trip is from Chaing Khong (on the thai side) up above Chiang Rai and than down to Luang Prabang 2 days 1 night.

Have not done it as i am always up in Laos in my own car.

    Slow boat down the Mekong

I have done this trip and it is very pleasant can book a combo ticket in Chiang Mai or even Bangkok if you don't have the time. Mini bus pick up from Hotel in Chiang Mai to take you to Chiang Khong then over night at the border (all included in the ticket) then in the morning ferry to Huay Xai to get visa stamped (all arrangements regards visa's are all sorted at overnight stay in Chiang Khong I need to add) then another short minibus ride to where the boats are at bay then board.

It's a beautiful serene journey down to Luang Prabang and it will include a overnight stop in Pakbeng, accommodation is included and I am pretty sure the meal was included aswell. I could be wrong. It was great here can chat and get to know your fellow travellers over a meal and a few beers then off again in the morning, arrive Luang Prabang late afternoon which is a wonderful place to visit, one of my favourites.

Woopsie...I must confess, I may get slightly dyslectic at times, but at least I done need to look up on wiki what the definition of a decade is...tongue.png

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you really think I would actually need to look up the definition of a Decade and that is the reason a posted a link?

Some right clap2.gif on thaivisa these days.

    Yes...

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  17. I strongly recommend that one engage brain before posting, even a 5 year old knows that a decade is 10 years, Yet you lambast fellow TV members that do not agree with you that a Century is 144 Years! May I suggest a maths refresher course. Don't you feel a right lemon now?

I would also strongly suggest one engages brain before not only posting but speaking.

What does century or years have to do with my post?

Perhaps some reading and comprehetion lessons?

Lets try to break it down like to a 5 year old.

I said i have worked and lived in Thailand for over a decade.

Other poster replied, if i lived here for 10 years i should know more.

Decade is 12 years, poster translated decade into 10.
