  1. I strongly recommend that one engage brain before posting, even a 5 year old knows that a decade is 10 years, Yet you lambast fellow TV members that do not agree with you that a Century is 144 Years! May I suggest a maths refresher course. Don't you feel a right lemon now?

I would also strongly suggest one engages brain before not only posting but speaking.

What does century or years have to do with my post?

Perhaps some reading and comprehetion lessons?

Lets try to break it down like to a 5 year old.

I said i have worked and lived in Thailand for over a decade.

Other poster replied, if i lived here for 10 years i should know more.

Decade is 12 years, poster translated decade into 10.

  2. This is too obvious this one

obvious how? does that mean you would go back to Thailand to work without the security or career path or stay in the UK and continue with trying to get a visa sorted/long periods away from each other? Pray tell?

Sorry it's not too obvious is it but never get yourself into a postion in Thailand where you are not even earning as you say a dime. I can see your problem here now, stay in the Uk and watch your pennies.

We all know how it all works but sometimes it's just so blatant!

  3. Does that four days include travelling? Far too much far too quickly, you aren't collecting scouting merit badges, slow sown and relax a bit more in each place. There was a thread on here not too long ago about a guy who had also planned a huge non stop itinerary and by half way through he was just sick of it, Do yourself a favour at least allow yourself to unpack and unwind not "Its Tuesday it must be..........."

He says 4 days at each "stop" not 4 days to do all in?

Sorry I must have missed where I addressed the question to you or are you his travel agent?

well it is an open forum pal next time use the pm function if you want a private converstation wi' wee fella

  5. Looks ok to me, perhaps swap around Tao with Phangan. Also depends on if using BKK as a hub here as could see out Southern Thailand first including Koh Lanta then over the peninsula to the Gulf of Thailand and then connect back to BKK with a flight from Samui. If your using HKT as the hub then also see no reason why you wouldn't fit in Koh Lanta etc as you're in the region intitially?

Time constraints :would go Samui > Phangna > Tao > Surat Thani > Phuket > Yao Yai > Krabi main > Phi Phi > Phuket or vice versa. Could fit in Lanta if time also see about full moon as would be great if the trip could reverse with the latter part coinciding with the party etc?

  6. Can't you just accept you may have been wrong to cause such a fuss and then to suggest your post was more to do with "Thais saving face" kind of a paradox you not think?

I would be curious to know, from your perspective how I was 'wrong'?

    Was I wrong culturally?

Was I wrong for not accepting competent service from a Private hospital?

    Was I wrong medically?

We asked the gf's Thai Mother who is a Diabetic and she would have accepted that method of testing?

I would like your opinion ...

    .

well you've lost me but all 4 I'll guess.

  7. It seems like both the clinic and the patients are a bit confused in this story. The clinic were clearly giving a glucose tolerance test.

    <snip>

I think you can't see the Forest from the trees

The story isn't about a Blood Sugar test ... it's about Saving Face ... and when a lie or a mistake is presented as a truth or normal practise to Save Face.

Thank for your opportunity to give an example of what was actually done.

    From the Mayo clinic ...

Initially the Lady had the ...

Initial glucose challenge test. You'll begin the glucose challenge test by drinking a syrupy glucose solution. One hour later, you'll have a blood test to measure your blood sugar level. A blood sugar level below 130 to 140 mg/dL or 7.2 to 7.8 mmol/L, is usually considered normal on a glucose challenge test, although this may vary at specific clinics or labs. If your blood sugar level is higher than normal, it only means you have a higher risk of gestational diabetes. Your doctor will order a follow-up test to determine if you have gestational diabetes.

It was at an elevated level so we were there for the follow-up test ...

Follow-up glucose tolerance testing. For the follow-up test, you'll be asked to fast overnight and then have your fasting blood sugar level measured. Then you'll drink another sweet solution — this one containing a higher concentration of glucose — and your blood sugar level will be checked every hour for a period of three hours. If at least two of the blood sugar readings are higher than the normal values established for each of the three hours of the test, you'll be diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

Same, but different from your example.

But to be honest ... if this OP was about the various Blood Sugar tests available, I would have posted in the Medical Forum.

Can't you just accept you may have been wrong to cause such a fuss and then to suggest your post was more to do with "Thais saving face" kind of a paradox you not think?

  8. As soon as he got out the shaker to serve a whisky you should have known something wasn't kosher.

Objection, at this point the op believed the barman may have done something naughty after he spilled the whisky while using the shaker in the first place.

  9. I was telling this to a group of Thai girls in a bar on a recent trip to Bangkok. To my surprise they all thought that this was terrible and he was a bad guy for doing this.....

is it the fact he told you he doesn't have sex with her they were upset with or the age difference or the money she spend on him.

  10. Well it is not a conversation is it, it is different folk adding their own thoughts onto a thread so collectively it may just seem people are moaning and arguing, griping etc

It is just the nature of the beast.

  11. No amount of flammable liquid is alowed. Either in checked in luggage or carry on.

What about the duty free shops that sell perfumes containing alcohol? And booze?

Correct me if I am wrong but the way I understand the regulations is you can't carry liquid containers bigger than 100ml brought in from "outside" on to an aircraft so once you pass security anything you get from "airside" is ok?

Depends on your destination and if your flight is direct or not.

    Yermanee wai.gif

So your telling us that not all airport security as the same regulations, thanks for that information, never thought of that.

Also think we are getting confused with products that are flammable here, perfume and spirits wont count and are indeed available on board actually. head palm! Flamously?!
