  1. Just watched Ep 4,nothing exciting!

Remember seeing a Doc about the manchester bloke before,he got 99 years, one year for ever pill he had but luckily got reduced to 26.

Think the Thai cop did a great job with the deaf people when HM's DO NOT RESIST fell on deaf ears :)

Not entirely true, he was caught with 3400 ecstacy tablets.

  2. The argument is, was the situation given a push in a certain direction? Consider a wildlife photographer who is commissioned to get some exciting footage of gazelles leaping through a picturesque ravine. He cant just sit around forever with his camera waiting.

And the point here, using your analogy, is that gazelles DO leap through picturesque ravines. JJ does scam tourists and has been filmed doing it before. He has at least one "damaged" watercraft ready for the job.

The behavior that the filmmaker wanted was behavior inherent in JJ jet ski rental man.

The idea of this being staged implies that otherwise, it would never happen on its own. This is false. JJ is a crook and this account on film is only documenting what has happened in the past (and will continue in the future).

Sorry didn't quite erase them words quick enough.

  3. WhiteShrek:
Mrs wasn't too impressed with the portrayal of Thailand and a bit annoyed at first until she started to just sit back and laugh at it.

That's the predictable reaction from Thais with most things that are undesirable in the country. Laugh at littering, laugh at corruption, laugh at scamming. Laugh at ever becoming a mature and fair society, it seems.

I don't think the spirit of Article 23 is intended to encompass filming unscrupulous activities by locals. I assume it is intended for deliberate misinterpretations of events in Thailand.

As for Article 34 (submit footage to the Tourism and Sports Ministry?), this is a technicality. If the show had portrayed Thailand as a crime-free paradise, no one would be talking about any infringement of articles of law.

I want to put this out there again: This jet ski thing was not "staged." Staged means that all or most of the participants were working from a script or plan. We know that JJ has pulled this stunt before, evidenced the other Youtube video, and having a jet ski with old damage shows that this is part of his modus operandi.

My feeling is that the producer of the show could have implied (wink, nod) that he would like to have something on film that was "interesting." JJ knows that he can get away with whatever he wants and has an ego the size of Issan.

The fact is that JJ is a crook, and the Thai authorities should be targeting people like him, not the film company. It's sad that the Thai authorities first reaction is that the foreigners are wrong and breaking the law.

Regarding the foreigner "police," I would like one of them to post here on why they are needed. That they can't speak the local language would disqualify them from this sort of job in any country, so why is Thailand different? Why can't Thai officers take care of their own law enforcement? Foreigners understand foreigners is no answer. Chinese volunteers don't police Chinatowns in the US (or anywhere), so why is this sort of thing acceptable here?

True about the foriegner police, they remind me of the union reps in one of me earliest employments. They were completely useless.

  4. It was all a little too convenient wasn't it, just as it was with the girl who got arrested for possession on Phangan? Sensation is needed for this game to work and there are ways to gaurantee it I am sure.

I would imagine that there was a considerable amount of filming done and only a small part of it used for each episode.

By saying it was all a little too convenient, You are saying that even the misha section was made up.?

How long have they been filming this series?

That i am not sure about Since june i believe. But i am sure Howard can tell us that.

Have they been filming in Pattaya, Phuket, Samui and Phangan simultaniously with seperate crews or have they been hopping around with the same crew? How many full moon's have they been to?

  6. Problem here is that many believe or want to believe the jet ski incident is real.

Many of us down in Patong know JJ.. It was real..

    100%..

LL - I don't doubt this goes on all the time and this JJ may be one of the worst for it. However, my only point is that the incident was staged and did not happen "live". I think this JJ said the payment for the damage was negotiated prior to the filming... lol

  7. Nope

I looked at point to point tickets on Britrail and the price was double that of raileasy

Britrail London to York for $149 US one way

raileasy London to York for £28.50 one way ($46 US)

Only difference is on the Britrail ticket I can hop off the train and get back on if I want.

The rail passes themselves aren't that great of a deal if you aren't travelling whip speed through the country either.

I plan on taking some time, so 3 days of travel within Britain for $269 US is not a deal.

As someone as already pointed out these sound like to different types of tickets. If you are able to hop on and off then this would be a Standard Anytime ticket on services between London and York meaning any route is permitable. Also if you decided not to make the journey then ticket would be fully refundable less a £10 admin fee.

The Raileasy ticket because of the low cost sounds like a Standard Advance ticket, these aren't refundable and would be ristricted to the times on the ticket meaning if you missed the train it wouldn't be allowed on any other service.

The price of $149 quoted by Britrail for the Standard Anytime ticket is a good deal as in the UK this would cost you $182 (£112).

A Standard Off Peak would be a the best option. Refundable and flexible to use on services outside of the rush hour.

    Hope this helps.

  8. When I arrived in Thailand a rented a car I thought I better learn how to say Left (Sai), Right (Quar) and straight ahead (Dong Bai) in thai. A lot of good that did me. She kept saying Quar when she meant sai.

Then when travelling through Udon Thani on her motorbike I had to learn my own way pretty fast coz she would tell me too late when we should have turned. So I kept asking everytime I thought me were close and saw a street if I should turn there. It was a bit enoying but at least i stopped missing turns.

Also another funny thing she does is let me start riding her around on my first day in thailand. She knew I was a total beginner on a motorcycle (6 hours learning 1 year before on an empty village road) She wanted me riding her everywhere on the city streets of Udon. Well I am happy she did as I learnt to ride pretty quickly. On the second day if I was riding too slowly (the same speed as those around me) she would tell me to go faster. A brave lass to be sure.

But now I feel safe and able to zip around anywhere. Dont know about Bangkok though. I cant see this type of thing happening in a western society these days. She pointed out the Thai road rules as I violated them "Dont overtake on the left as they might by turning into a side street" - Noted, "Drive faster, i'm hungry" - oookkk, "I not wear helmet coz no police tonight" - i see.

After getting booked once for her not wearing a helmet and her excepting me to pay her fine i said "next time you can pay the ticket" It wasn't hard to get her to wear a helemet after that funny enough :)

    So much fun. So different.

    Ha Ha

I called my girlfriend on her birthday.

I love the way she says things it's so cute.

I said how are you, you going out today?

She says, no cannot hab big cock too much las nigh!

Lol, hab! Still tickles me that. Heeee.....i dont know.

  9. Whats your best guess for a stable investment for the coming year, given the uncertainty of banks, sterling and economic downturn

    Gold?

    Property?

    Oil futures?

Staple commodities (people have still got to eat)

Of course if you ask an investment adviser he will get you to completion a questionaire about you risk/ reward/ access criteria

so lets make it simple, saying that the investment is for 1 year and the risk/reward ratio is conservative (safer/lower returns) or adventurous riskier/higher returns. The capital should not lose value by more than 10% worst case.

or any other opinions you contribute.

10 kilo's of cocaine? Should provide a very good return.

    Brigante7.

Worth a bash and you never know you could get a royal pardon?

Put it in Flu protection remedies!

Yeah and put some into Dettol aswell.

  11. The reality is quite simple - TV programs can distort it all they want but the equation remains the same.

Why spend 10 hours exposing your back in a rice field when one can earn 10 times as much in 1 hour lying on your back in an air-conditioned room? Or at least a room with a fan.

    :)

True and it could be a good way to meet your future spouse come to think of it. :D

  12. On Halloween, for thousands of years, druid priests have supposedly conducted diabolical worship ceremonies in which cats, horses, sheep, oxen, human beings and other offerings were rounded up, stuffed into wicca cages and burned to death.

These human and animal sacrifices or offerings, were apparently required to appease Samhain and keep the spirits from harming them.

    Trick or Treat

To obtain these sacrifices, druid priests would go from house to house asking for fatted calves, black sheep and human beings. Those who gave were promised prosperity, and those who refused to give were threatened and cursed. This is the origin of "trick or treat."

    Jack-O-Lantern

The Jack-O-Lantern has its origin in the candle-lit pumpkin or skull, which served as a signal to mark those farms and homes that supported the druids' religion, and thus were seeking the "treat" when the terror of Halloween began.

    Dance of Death

While people and animals were screaming in agony, being burnt to death, the druids and their followers would dress in costumes made of animal skins and heads.

They would dance, chant and jump through the flames in the hope of warding off evil spirits.

Is it not a way too have a bonfire and dance covort and partake in sexual congress without the iminent fear of arrest.

Have a Happy Halloween.. tut There's somebody at the door!

  13. Pattaya bay is good, wide sweeping gently shelving beach (picture post card quality) and Surise Beach is good aswell although not as idylic there's an excellent sea scape. Early November i'd maybe just go for it and sort it out when I got there but if you can find an online site to book in for a night then scout around to see what suits best?

  14. It beggars belief doesn't it?! Video evidence is a perfect tool for offside decisions and also over the line desputes - there shouldn't even be a need to use an official for these instances, i'm sure with some clever piece of technology a correct decision could be made even before any of the officials have even thought of raising or (in the case of the first 2 goals this evening) keeping the flag down!
