1. Well of course, nobody attempts to answer the real question, which was about open returns. I can offer two pieces of advice:

    1. DO NOT believe anything you are told by a travel agent regarding the ability to change your return at no charge. They just want to sell you a ticket and will tell you what you want to hear. Find out the ticket fare class and check with the carrier. I had to return to the UK at short notice recently and bought a supposedly changeable ticket from BA (yes, the BA office on Rama 4) which turned out not to be when it came to changing it. Buyer beware. Always get the travel consultant to email you the conditions of the ticket before agreeing to confirm.

    2. The alarm bells should ring if they insist on you booking a return date. In that case check the fare class VERY carefully, because it goes to my comment below. It might well be changeable to a seat in that class. If you can find one. A truly open return is generally only available at FULL fare. In which case, bloody good luck, because full fare is very expensive. The only other way is to buy a RTW (round the world) ticket, which can have only the first leg booked. Trouble is, you have to go round the world! When booking a fixed outbound with a changeable inbound ticket it will be necessary for the consultant to take an inbound flight date. As you say a fully flexible fare will be the most expensive, a full fare in economy (Y class) will have the least restrictions.

Contrary to other comments, there are generally LOADS of seats available. My daughter works in the booking software industry (there are three big players, globally) so she can check loading for me any time. What is not available is a seat at the price most of us are prepared to pay, a different thing altogether. This comment is nonsense?

It is my view that the next Albert Einstein should not waste his brainpower on Physics and Mathematics. His efforts would be much better spent for the benefit of mankind in figuring out Airline seat pricing, truly one of the greatest mysteries of the world. Worth a Nobel prize or two in my book. true.

  2. There are no "cheap" tickets to be had in Thailand. A friend is coming out here in two weeks and has just booked his ticket from Heathrow at 450 pounds.....you try and match that from this end....impossible.

I guess the reason being that the only Thai's who fly are the really rich ones and they arent bothered about price anyway!!!!!! So the airlines simply dont bother to cut prices. What do you think the reason is?

I will be interested if anyone knows of a cheap way because I want to book for next year.

    HL :)

What methods are using to find your prices? Googling online sites wont give the best results.

  3. Trolls aside the worst post is the one that simply tries to demean a thread "this is meaningless" no backup no explanation.

Those who say I've just read this whole thread and it is quite crap, nothing else, it's crap that is it. ?????

    This was a crap thread!

  4. <snip>

whilst I feel this thread has just descended into a lame slagging match, I must admit this video gave me a giggle. nice work. :)

What ya gonna do about it?

I once watched an amazing bit of television produced by David Attenborough, he waited months to get the perfect shot of a Lion taking out a Gazelle on the African Savannah. The shot came and he made great televison out of it... Sorry Howard not interested in your autograph, I'm after the Lion's..

Sir David Attenborough is exeptional though and also has access to (I imagine) an unlimited budget. Consider a film maker who is tight on time/limited budget, what could he do to get that similar footage of a Lion takin' out a Gazelle?

Howard: How do you feel so far about the representaion of you and the rest of the volunteers? Accurate, fair deal or could of been better? You mentioned you was filmed on your day job, that's not been shown. Is there other material you feel they've left out which would of made good viewing or added relevance to the situation?

Given the last episode is not featuring the TPV.

  6. it was in her room as well. do bar girls take guys back to their room? (it was pointed out that apparently he broke the toilet not the seat) F@*k knows how?

Maybe he kicked the shit out of it!!!

'Breakin the toilet' doesn't necessarily mean breaking the bowl, could mean he blocked the plumbing somehow? That is what probably has happened. Rossie O'gradys carvery several bottles of chang lost his nerve made a beeline for the bog and instead of using the bumgun he went and blocked it all up with a copy of the Pattaya Blatt. To make matters worse he's tried flushin and all god knows what is swimming around the bathroom thus the rest of the evening ensues, the next thing he knows he's got a camera crew in his face.

  7. Betfred are offering odds of 1-2 for a red beachball to float onto the pitch during the game at Anfield on Sunday which surely must be a cert. Meanwhile the bookies must be havin a disco after tonights results, at least mine will be anyway.

  8. I've just finished watching the Man United vs Bolton game, and i have to say i was a bit nervous towards the end.

Kevin Davies was immense, pretty much him and Matt Taylor are the whole bolton team. Taylor plays balls into the box, Davies wins almost all of them.

If Crouch and Heskey at in the team to be "big men" (ie win long balls, headers, etc...) why has Davies not been given a chance, from seeing him play lately i'd much prefer him to Heskey.

Ok, Davies is not going to take anyone on, or run past anyone, but he wins 99.99% of all headers...And he did supply the cross for Taylors goal.

    Opinions?

Kevin Davies.. is a good bloke, his head is made from solid oak.

"It makes sense, the whole series has been pretty s**t, I guess they were scraping the barrel to get anything interesting past episode2"

    Well that's true.

BTITmaker mentioned 'front loading' which I can only presume meant the better (more controversial) footage was all screened in the earlier episodes? Apart from the JJ incident and the girl who got arrested for possession (which was also a little too convenient) what else has there been and both of these 'visual expressions' were in the first show!

Front loading no. It simply means that there hasn't been enough material to make the full toking spliff.

  10. I recorded two hours worth of programmes from UK TV tonight. The first hour was on BBC1 - it was 'Life' presented by David Attenborough explaining the lengths that animals go to to mate and preserve their species. The second hour was 'BTITT' on Bravo - explaining the depths to which some humans sink in order to get a shag. 'Life' was uplifting - 'BtiTT' was disgusting.

    :)

  11. Has anybody here successfully watched live streams? I attempted to watch Leeds v Charlton on Saturday and it was a waste of time. 2 seconds then buffering then another two seconds followed by nothing for five minutes. It was the same the previous time I tried it.

Will official streams be any better (even if they were available)? Judging by the fact that I have to play YouTube clips all the way through and then rewatch them once they have loaded, I somehow doubt it.

TOT 2MB in Phuket by the way.

bkkjames, you are absolutely right about the reason. I was sent a cutting from Mediaweek yesterday explaining this.

I think it is just a one-off as England have qualified and no UK broadcasting company would fork out the going rate for a nothing game as far as England are concerned, though Ukraine still have something to play for.

what are you using to watch? are you trying to watch a live web stream or are you using an app like sopcast or tvuplayer to watch through? i never have any problems watching through windows media player via sopcast, always clear as a bell.

I was using Justin TV but I just think my internet connection is too slow here. I was thinking of getting a slingbox but I think that will also be a waste of money until the Thai internet connections improve.

But this is getting off the subject. I note that South Africa is on the excluded list. I haven't checked but that may mean it's on one of the Supersport channels.

Internet only and in only so many countries? Hope that one fails. For those that are interested atdhe.net (live sports section) is a good source for reliable links to streaming football on justintv etc.

  12. ^ You are right - he is a Tourist Police Assistant and carries out the duties asked of him by his superior Tourist Police colleagues!!! :)

HM can handle himself - he is after all an adult. He knows the risks, and so far has been doing this job quite successfully for a long time. (no tears as of yet)

Sorry but it's just so weird how you keep on referring to Mr Miller in such a personal way? You say there has been no tears has of yet, well how the <deleted> do you know that? Likewise earlier another poster observed that if one was in a similar position one would question how the hel_l did one get to this point? You replied with a rendition of once in a life time? Again so personable?

    Strange?
