Guys, the agent for my condo has done all the TM30 work for me. However, what happens when i go on holiday. Like, eg if i go to some local destination in Chiang Mai or Phuket. I assume then, the hotels in these destinations will do my TM30, but then i return back to my condo and what happens then? To further confuse matters what happens if you go abroad for a few days and then return home ?! So do i have to inform the agent, and she takes me off or something. Very confusing and such a a headache at times all this !!!! Thanks in advance for any replies !

In that scenario it will help Thailand, as many Chinese will look for budget holidays. Thailand is a budget holiday for Chinese. The elite, and aspirational Chinese population yearn to go to Europe or America. The sheer volume of the Chinese population means their numbers are going to be astronomical again.

Very dangerous slippery sloap. When Chinese numbers return to pre pandemic levels, and keep going up - at what point do you then say 'enough is enough' - because you certainly won't be able to reinstate visas and the fees again (due to the relationship with China and how things work here). Imagine how much money they've invested in losing the visa fees they were making from the Chinese tourists ?! Basically you've just opened your border to a billion people to come and go freely. Had they waited and things eased in Chinese, things would have naturally gone back to normal. Imagine the cost of getting rid of visas fees they have cost themselves too. Very short sighted decision with huge ramifications, that i am not sure have been thought through clearly.

Manchester --- > Istanbul -----> Delhi -----> Bangkok All around 4 hours each. 1 day sightseeing around Istanbul, then sleep the night in Delhi. Just splits it all up. Caveat is you will need to get a visa for India (which you can do online). You can also do Sri Lanka instead of India.

Good advice. But i am now finding these middle eastern airlines flights to Thailand really too long for me. Even just the regular flight to Dubai / Doha is very long. Hence for my next trip i am going to look at making my flight time at any time no more than 4 hours. Then a stop over. So far my research says the best two stops on the way to and back to Thailand is India and Turkey - with roughly equal flight times of around 4-5 at a time. I have a visa for India also. I really can't be doing that long UK to Bangkok flight with Emirates/Qatar unless it is on business class. It's just getting way too heavy on me. I tried to get to do one long flight with Thai and another with Air France this past year and that was even worst. Air France in particular legroom was a total disgrace for such a long haul flight. Wouldn't ever do that again. I've even tried to drinking myself to oblivion to get through the flight, and that just left with me a headache and an even more distressed flight!!!

Baht depreciation expected to deepen amid global market volatility

Every currency is weakening against the dollar. The pound is only 1.27. Before Brexit we were getting around 1.75 -
When anyone in Thailand says 'its just round the corner' - it's always best to double check, as it usually ends up being in a different city. In this scenario alone, i've read it's just around here, then it's in Zone 2. Then some have suggested it's after immigration - which opens up a new can of worms.
-
Sorry to bump this. So at Suvarnabhumi ... you get your boarding pass. Go up to security. You then come down the esculator and see immigration. It is at this point i should see desks that allow me to get my return permit ? I don't know but i have been though Suvarnabhumi so many times, that the only place i have seen desks around this area is AFTER i cleared immigration (usually where they fine you if you are an overstayer, etc). I've tried looking for youtube videos and nothing. Seems very risky for me to pay for flights, and risk all this .... what if i go through security and see no desk, is there a possible route out for me, or by this point would i be forced to go through immigration? I keep hearing talk of zone 1 and zone 2 - clarify this for me if anyone can. Also why not just make this desk pre security? Seems a weird place to put it.

Hi would appreciate some help - i keep getting told that it's possible to get the reentry permit at the airport. Where abouts is this in the airports? I am obviously asuming it's before immigration, but where abouts? I am definately not keen on booking anywhere if i can't get this, as it means my exisiting visa will be cancelled. How long do you wait to the permit also ? Appreciate the help !

Pretty much this. Not only 1.4 billion Chinese, but also 1 billion Indians pretty close too. Thailand is in a perfect location. However, the country itself is not what the citizens in those countries aspire to travel too. Both Indians and Chinese want to go to Europe or America. So you end up with the crap leftovers, or dodgy money guys. You then calculate is it worth so many millions coming to your own country, at the expense of living conditions for your own population to accomodate them. Singapore and Malaysia both take a more conservative approach. They don't want to be swamped with them.

Rishi Sunak considers weakening key green policies

If they do pay for it - then there will be cuts to other departments. Which department do you want cutting? Health? Education? Or do you want tax rises? You still haven't explained to me how this will not cost the taxpayer anything if done correctly. Can you just enlighten us on this one. I get my gas / electricity bill once a month - and the bottom there is a pretty large 'green levy tax' that has been added. Moving aside from payments - what about the ensuing limitations this will eventually lead on our lives? My parents already having to pay Ulez charge just drive their car to a supermarket - ALTHOUGH I DO AGREE WITH ULEZ in principle in scapping older polluting cars (see the horrid polluting old busses here in Bangkok), but you know those cameras aren't going to go away. You will eventually be charged to pay to drive, etc Then as most of us are living and associated here with Thailand - how do you feel on the proposed curbs they will put on our travelling or increasing taxes heavily on flights? It's a slipper slope that we aren't being told about. However, on the principle of cleaner air i am fall for it, and willing to make sacrifices myself - even pay extra tax. -

Green taxes? Subsidies to pay for the heating pumps that will come from taxes. The infringment coming on flights, etc I'm bemused how you say their is no 'cost' when done correctly. Can you enlighten me further how their is no costs. -

We all want cleaner air. However, leaders must be honest about costs. If you ask people they want cleaner air they of course will say yes. If you tell them they will have to scrap some of their cars, buy newer electric cars - some might say no. If you then go on to tell them that they will then have to pay to drive in certain areas (Ulez, green zones, neighbourhood zones) alot will be annoyed. If you then tell them they will have to get rid of their boilers and then install heat pumps at a cost of thousands most will be pretty annoyed. If you then tell them they will have further curbs on their lives - eg flying and taking holidays. Eventually when you lay it all out - that 100% that originally said yes, will now be down to low single figures. Personally having been in Thailand, and inhaling the disgusting traffic fumes we have here in Bangkok, i do welcome some measures here in Bangkok. It's absolutely horrific. -
Do we really need a week by week commentary on how many chinese tourists have come ? For crying out loud. How about they route at corrupt practises (taxis, etc) and make it a better enviroment for European / Australian / American families to enjoy? But nah .... CHINA. Being in China, they view Thailand as a budget destination. The real love for well up Chinese is to go to Europe for a holiday. By sheer numbers they will get millions of Chinese tourists. However, this in turn turns off well spending foreign visitors from other countries.

I think a major factor to complicate all this - in the west we all tend to use keys. Most tennents tend to change a lock - you can essentially take the same size lock out and replace it with something similar, albeit it a different key. In THailand most condos use a card and a code on the door (for newer condos too). The code aspect leaves you vulnerable to past guests if the landlord doesn't change it, and the card entry system means it's very hard to override it.
