  1. I think because Gaza and the West Bank are considered part of Isreal for this purpose and vaccination rates there are relatively low.
  2. The government really wants that internet freedom score of zero don't they.
  3. New cases in Thailand and Chonburi seem to have peaked and have been holding steady or declining slightly...unfortunately deaths, a lagging indicator, are still rising.
  4. The plot was to assassinate Myanmar's ambassador to the UN...not the UN's ambassador to Myanmar ???????? Maybe the thread title should be corrected.
  5. The reports say there was attempted rape but she fought back and this surprised the suspect and he killed her (suspect's account). He may never got his pants off...but his DNA is probably under victim's fingernails as he's reportedly pretty scratched up.
  6. Two lives destroyed...the scurge of drugs strikes again.
  7. Funny last night I had a series of momentary electrical dips in my guesthouse room...just sayin' ????????????
  8. Should do wonders for developing the iEconomy and attracting all those digital nomads the govt is seeking.
  9. Just glad they been able to keep feeding and caring for the animals while they wait for better days. I fear for the animals in all the private roadside animal attractions and what has become of them during the pandemic.
  10. Doesn't the fact that two Thai media outlets reported this man's story belie the premise of your post ????
  11. Is that a common practice anywhere in the world...the state compensating crime victims ???? The state wasn't responsible for the crime so I think this is a pretty far out suggestion. In many places, a civil action for monetary damages can be brought by the family...not sure if this is the case in Thailand.
  12. I understand these are the things any minister has to say after such a terrible crime, but compared to many places, I don't think Phuket (or Thailand) is particularly dangerous. So I don't know what other steps can be done to increase safety for tourists. The best way to keep everyone safe is to quickly apprehend the culprits and lock them up for good.
  13. A mostly young population and very few obese individuals, with underlying medical conditions, I'd imagine.
  14. It's one of the two vaccines offered to everyone here in Phuket...got my AZ jab this week.
  15. I noticed the fresh dairy offerings at Villa Market in Rawai, Phuket, were a bit slim yesterday but I put thus more down to transport issues than supply chain shutdowns.
  16. Switzerland, being a small nation of 8.5M people, such an notorious event is bound to be big news no matter who she was; however I doubt this tragic event will have any affect on Swiss tourist arrivals in Thailand.
  17. There's a lot more that can be done to them...including loss of privileges and administrative segregation (solitary confinement). 20 year sentence is life imprisonment ????
  18. Just noticed this and my time to edit has expired...of course this should be "vaccine."
  19. This works out well for me as there's a big wad of dollars I've wanted to move into Thailand for some time and now may be the opportune time to do it.
  20. It's a shame some common sense things can be said because of political correctness but it's very likely this lady would still be alive if she had not strolled out on her own in a relatively remote forested area. Of course she should be able to but in many places/countries this isn't the best advice. Just having a companion, either male or female, provides a lot of protection...how often do you hear of two people out for a stroll being killed vs. one out on their own?
