There's just been a long weekend and there's another long weekend coming up. This could have affected your experience.

What does this even mean?

Because there are people we still care about back in the UK Because we may want to visit the country at some point (perhaps to visit the above) Because the actions of these politicians have a direct impact on the amount of money we have to spend here. Those are my first three thoughts...

You said that getting a visa was an "easy and straightforward process". You didn't add in any provisions. Besides which, not being able to afford an Elite visa does not automatically make you poor. Just as with intelligence, there are different levels. "Read a comment recently on one the AN threads, a foreigner, he bragged about stealing money from bar girls purses." Ah.... That changes everything. A story you read from somebody else talking about a single 3rd party getting up to no good is absolutely sufficient evidence to prove somebody who can't afford an elite visa is a threat to society. "Your comments don't make any sense." I can only guess that either English isn't your first language, or you simply expect people to understand all the nuances of your views without the need for you to actually have to state them in the first place.

Over 50, married, or very wealthy, then. Better?

Where are you from? Does your country offer the e-visa system? If so you could apply for a METV while you're away in Vietnam and then you're covered for at least the next 6-9 months.

I used to have fun with my ex gf. I'd show her how I used Google translate to help my spelling when I needed to write Thai (I have the same issues writing as you do. My reading isn't exactly super hot either). She'd then have a go and Google wouldn't have a clue what she was saying. That being said, I don't have too many issues making myself understood, either.

You always left feeling hungry? So after the first time, you knew the portions were small but didn't think to order any side dishes to fill you up? I can understand being disappointed by the size of the meat portions, as there's no simple way to double up on those (unless they have a combo deal...), but the carbs and salads are all available as extras.

That very much inferred that you don't understand why people would want anything other than Thai food whilst here. Maybe, just maybe, somebody else ordered their breakfast without beans and the orders got mixed up? I occasionally order without beans and get mildly annoyed if the request is apparently ignored. I didn't ever stop to think, until now, that there may be somebody else getting their breakfast without beans which is seemingly a far more stressful event.

You didn't just "mention" food. You criticized people for not wanting to eat Thai food 24/7 all the time they are here.

You make it sound like food is the only thing worth coming here for. I happen to like Thai food, but if I didn't that alone wouldn't have stopped me coming here.

Indeed... You can hardly blame the immigrants for not knowing that France has both a better economy and far more opportunities in general than the UK these days. If the Truss somehow manages to finish the job she tried to start, then the immigration situation should pretty much resolve itself over time.
