Do you tip your hotel receptionist ?... the breakfast staff (on the free BF buffet when there is no bill) ???

Do you tip the labourers who take your rubbish away in the middle of the night ?

Where is your 'cheap charlie line drawn' ???...  only at restaurants and massage shops ?

I have thought similar but I think certain staff expect a tip based on their level of pay such as I have mentioned and include hotel room cleaners. Based to on somewhat more personal services where you directly benefit I suppose. May not be totally logical in all cases but you have to draw the line somewhere.

  2. I liked parties in my youth where you could walk around, listen to music, look for girls and muck about. That was replaced a bit by dinner parties which I didn't like much. Unless it was close friends. It was like a grown up thing with supposed clever banter and witty retorts and people would turn to topics like investments in real estate or some such. Could not escape for a few hours. Praise the host. Not my cup of tea. Older still it became dinner and  game nights and that was kind of fun I suppose.

My thai girlfriend doesn't have the type of friends that have dinner parties which is fine by me. But going out and doing stuff is ok in a group - thai girls will tend to compete in conversation as to who is best off if they have an expat partner but it's pretty harmless and they tend to be otherwise nice.

  3. It's nice to be important but it's important to be nice. Canadians from the cold are gonna wanna talk about the heat and will feel they have some expertise about what to wear in the cold. Sure you could have found some common ground on something and they may then drop their guard and not be as boring - probably due to shyness and unfamiliar surroundings.

Nobody thought Trump was good for anything, they just thought Hillary was worse.

And for the next election they now know Biden is worse.

Until 'they' start offering real candidates (with the ability for make decisions for themselves) for elections, and keep on offering their mindless and easily controllable puppets, democracy is finished.

I liked Hillary. Could not see a reason for the hate except her being pretty mainstream. The deplorables comment didn't help but it was not targeted at the average Trump lover but a subset that one could objectively argue are a bit deplorable.

Oh, it's much more than that. You just now ignored, for example, the national debt I mentioned, typical of selective perception. With that, we got inflation and wrong-headed, absurdly wasteful spending priorities.

We could go on to talk about homelessness, crime, the hollowing out and destruction of once-great cities, politics of division, censorship, attempt at media control, dual standards, subversion of the justice system, further expansion of the welfare state, and . . . . You get the idea.

Also fair enough, and critically important.

Posters on Trump topics here haven't the slightest interest in the reasons Trump supporters (or just tolerators, actually), think Trump might be somewhat good, amid all the noise, for correcting many of the problems Biden and his leftists have foisted on the USA.

The hope would be to return more to the previous 4 years (marred at the end by COVID) of low inflation, energy independence (Biden selling off the Strategic Petroleum Reserve--brilliant!), NATO allies coughing up more of their share, peaceful international relations (except for Afghanistan--Trump's plan for withdrawal thwarted by the war lobby, only to be botched by Biden), Iran in its corner after Obama foolishly threw money at them, etc.

I imagine it'll be hard for Trump to do much without inflicting pain. Reagan, or now the Argentine president Javier Milei, had the courage, but they also had a large base of support and no vast disinformation campaign w/ cooperation of the media, big tech, and corporate interests. The Dems are also leaving poison pills to stop him . . . . Tried to do that w/ the immigration portion of the recent spending bill that failed.

With no interest in those reasons, and, indeed, an inability to discuss them anyway without soiling their diapers while parroting the opinion-setting apparatchiks on The View or MSNBC, posters on a Trump topic merely enjoy the same old bashfest with a lot of name-calling, preening themselves on being informed and highly intelligent while leftists undermine them for a Hunger Games-style society. Kind of like middle class supporters of the Bolsheviks later murdered by the Bolsheviks.

I could go point by point and attempt to apportion blame here and there to circumstance, or outside forces, or Trump and sometimes Biden, or admit on some topics I am not sure who is to blame which is the case for us all, but if you can't listen and see, really see, that Trump should be out of the question due to his shallowness, clear lack of intellectual intelligence or moral compass that is  required of a president, then there's no point discussing more complex issues.

On media, each media has some bias and something to sell but in my opinion some media treats you with a bit of intelligence and others clearly don't. There is a  good deal of fact checking that goes with the somewhat one sided tone at an MSNBC or a CNN as compared to commentators on Fox or .. ahem .. Newsmax.  Consider that many of the criticisms of Trump are simply reporting what happened.

  6. Maybe this whole thing of external or internal happiness is based on the physical body  i.e. the relaxedness or clearness or happiness of our mind is 100 per cent linked to our physical state e.g. how tight is your neck, how relaxed are your hips, how healthy your insides. The state of your physicality will be affected by 1 perceptions of external events e.g. good news, fun times, by 2 actual physical events e.g. massage, sex, and by 3 personal ways of doing things and how you live that affect you physically e.g. quiet times, solitude, exercise and good food. Point being it all comes down to physicality and doesn't require a god, or a spirituality, or even really a separate mind.

You got the name-calling down right, man. Proof of higher education and intelligence. Count those wins. 🙂

Being serious for the 30 seconds it takes to write this.. you may not like Democrats for Gender issues or the border .. fair enough... but in fact the interest of Trump topics is in fact not some sort of Trump derangement but the psychology of how posters can really think after all that is happened that Trump is good for anything. Hard to get your head around.

Back to topic I went from three circles connected by sticks ... a molecule? ... to a white star not long ago.. from 8/14 to 9/14 .. if you care then Jingthing is the one to aspire to having a crown and 13/14.

  8. It might come down to how keen your son is - is he not into it and is happy to find a way out or is he super keen. Could be good for confidence. Could be bad if he gets beat up badly but he'll feel he had a go. Could be bad physically as you say.  Tough one.

a 66 year old dignified man would not allow something so trivial to make you resort to violence. a dignified man would of let it go. you didn't.

hence me saying you are clearly that kind of person. you should be embarrassed for your daughter not yourself.

He opened up and told a story we can all relate to a little bit. In your thread about fighting. Even noted a solution in his case. Not very chill Mr Stoner.

That is an accusation easily leveled at Biden supporters as well.

I readily admit Trump's faults and that I would vote for him in a heartbeat if Biden/ Harris were the opponents, but I am aware that it would be better if neither was standing for POTUS.

What concerns me are those that apparently think Biden is actually capable of seeing out another 4 years as POTUS.

Not sure what makes you dislike Biden so much. Pretty normal traditional president. The stuff about his supposed corruption and receiving payments have been proven totally false this week in case your media did not show it. Old but not his fault. Some on far left a bit woke but not mainstream policy as a rule or Biden. Biden not doing a lot for Palestinians, which appears to be something important for you,  but surely better than Trump would do. As a fellow antipodean not sure where such a dislike comes from.

Your argument seems to be he's only Manson, not Pol Pot.

If you break the law and you get caught, you have to go to court.

And there you might well be assessed a penalty. Even if nobody was hurt by your lawbreaking.

I have a relative who got caught using someone else's credit card. The victim didn't want restitution, so practically a victimless crime. That relative will be picking up trash by the highway for a couple of years of Saturday's to come.

Because that's how the law works. She feels persecuted too.

That TrumpTrash bends over backwards and sideways pretending not to understand this is very disingenous.

I don't disagree but, it's all been said before, but it's  that equal justice and protections under the law principle.

As an outsider I see a stirring need for Trump to be taken to account on things he has done. There's many reasons I don't like Trump - over valuing properties to get bigger loans where they were all paid back  is at the lower end. I am playing devil's advocate to ask something - would have this and some other charges been pursued if it wasn't Trump. Not sure.

I would personally focus criticism of Trump supporters on things like their acceptance of his support of dictators, trashing of democratic principles e.g. accepting outcome of elections etc etc. Though they should accept he did the wrong thing in this case I wouldn't consider it unreasonable for them to raise the issue of possible bias in the steps leading to todays findings.

Sadly, sympathetic, very vague and conveniently unspecific "doubters" like you are virtually worthless.

He needs FACTS. Whenever he goes to court, he loses badly on FACTS.

When I ask what facts favor him, TrumpTrash just runs away.

Yeah  ... but .. I would put the cases against him in 2 categories as many do. January 6, Georgia election stuff, I would include the Mar a Lago documents too because of the way he went about it. Serious. No doubt appears a strong case that had to be a thing based on objective law.

This one, the upcoming one on hush payments, I would put as a real thing, consistent with law,  but definitely an issue if the same charges - and the penalties for today's one - would have been pursued on the average joe.  I like it but there is an argument....

  13. In the bigger picture I wonder if this begins to eat away at Trump's reputation even amongst his fans - he always seemed to have an allure amongst his base of somehow playing 3 dimensional chess and never having consequences until recently.

Second is the moral argument. Is the the fact that charges had been laid on a fairly common occurrence, without actual victims, and the huge size of the penalty an indication of unreasonable bias. Could it tar all cases against him to the public as being motivated by bias. If it is based on some bias, is it bad to fight fire with fire,  if your opponent uses every dirty trick of legal and other manipulation,  to avoid consequences. Or are the charges and penalty fair and it is more his high profile that makes it noteworthy.
