  1. MoPH will probably set up a new app or web-site where we will be required to pre-register, then when our registration is approved we will get an appointment, then at that appointment we will get proof of vaccination(s). Seriously, the MoPH is said to have taken over responsibility for [email protected] registrants, for scheduling appointments and administering vaccines. Have seen reports this morning that the first registrants have appointments for tomorrow, Monday, in the afternoon. The MoPH has already vaccinated well over 100,000 foreigners (~ 205k), but maybe not so many with 2x yet? One assumes they'll hand out a document in Thai and English which details the name, dates and types of vaccines, once one is fully vaccinated?
  2. I don't think these numbers are "cooked". That's my opinion. Not seeing any upside to finagling them. There is a slide - I posted today's version of it - which if you click on the "plus sign" expands out to show the mix of AZ, SV, SPh, and now Pf. I haven't seen a recent one, but the mix has been nearly 50-50 AZ-SV. There have been some foreigner figures published, 280,075 from 5 Aug seems reliable. https://thethaiger.com/coronavirus/5-7-of-foreign-residents-in-thailand-have-received-a-dose-of-the-covid-19-vaccine I read these figures as (of today) 15,687,291 people have been vaccinated. Of those 15,687,291 people, 4,406,723 people have received two (2) doses. The remainder (11,280,568 11,094,474 forgot to subtract the 3rd dosers) have received one (1) dose. (And of those 15,687,291, 186,094 have received three (3) doses.) I could be wrong; I often am. https://covidvax.live/en/location/tha At this rate, Thailand could have 70% of people vaccinated (2 doses) in 216 days (or by Mar 10, 2022).
  3. Wow. Everyone's a critic. I did say... So, No. My final, and only recommendation was to contact True via their Chat function (web) or via a call (yes, I know that requires another phone and an international call) Yes, of course that's why I suggested it. Assuming you have WiFi coverage you can send/receive texts and calls as if you were in Thailand (lower costs, as you use in-country plan rate), and in areas without roaming partner coverage. And, related but off-topic, many people here in Thailand use WiFi calling on their home-country SIMs to receive OTP SMSes here. And make-receive free calls. registration is required. https://www.dtac.co.th/en/network/wifi-calling.html https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=th.co.dtac.wificalling&hl=en&gl=US https://www.ais.th/4g/vowifi/en/ <AIS is more phone-centric, than app-centric.> https://help.truecorp.co.th/truemoveh/16/1656 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eggdigital.femjo&hl=en&gl=US
  4. Ivermectineers lament: I just can't quit you Insert Brokeback Mountain meme here.
  5. When people (some doctors, some government officials) mentioned a potential for 40,000 new cases daily a few weeks ago I was highly doubtful. Now? Maybe hope 40,000 is the peak, and then downwards from there. Other than shelter-in-place there is nothing to backstop the virus. The vaccination efforts are good, but not nearly enough to stall the spread, or minimize the deaths. Not a good sign.
  6. pm says no to bread (not sure about cake). “We should preserve Thai culture of eating rice instead of teaching Thais to eat bread,” Prayut said during his weekly TV programme Friday night. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/30245271
  7. Wow! What a doom and gloom take on my post. Providing more people with a vaccination is a "worst-case" scenario? Really?
  8. 670,834 vaccines administered in the 24 hr period between 5 and 6 August (13:00). 175,190 third-dose for medicos. We're at ~ 2.7 mm doses as of 6 August. 10 mm seems doable assuming supplies hold.
  9. I'm not sure the PDF is in the SMS? Maybe there's a link in the SMS to the PDF? Anyway... Is your printer on your WiFi network? Do you have a PC? Android or Apple? I can print directly from my Android phone to my printer via WiFI. Or I'll upload the PDF from my phone to Google Drive, download it to my PC for archival and printing.
  10. Prepaid? Postpaid? Assume you're trying to receive an OTP SMS? Contact TrueMove H, ask them to enable IR. http://www3.truecorp.co.th/truemoveh/international_services/roaming_services/entry/646?ln=en You could try the USSD code but I don't think that will work. Maybe try their Chat app? Or try calling +66 89 100 1331 Then install the app,https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.truelife.mobile.android.trueiservice&hl=en&gl=US and WiFi calling. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eggdigital.femjo&hl=en&gl=US https://help.truecorp.co.th/truemoveh/16/1656
  11. Relevance? None. But I think the thamanat argument is that he is not a felon in the eyes of thailand.
  12. While he's not green enough, nor yellow enough, honestly, having him as pm seems strangely logical for thailand. Kind of a toss-up between him and Big Joke. Lose/lose.
  13. Are you able to share the hospital which confirmed your reservation? And if different, the name of the hospital where "others" were denied? Thanks.
  14. Yes, I will stipulate that everyone given a first does of AZ is getting an APPOINTMENT for a second dose at 4/8/12/16 weeks. I assume I do not have to point out the difference between an appointment and a vaccination? And yes, a few (~200,000) have already received a second dose of AZ. Most, like the pm, from that first batch imported (~117,000). However, I'm not certain how many who received AZ from 7 June, have received their second doses. They should be approaching the window soon. Again, this is just my read on the situation this morning. Spreading first doses, of what is purported to be extremely effective, across as many people as possible seems the wise thing to do, vs. second dosing people, given the lack of vaccines. Bumping AZ #1 from high 80s to what? low 90's with a second dose, while leaving another person at ZERO, seems unwise. But I am not a scientist nor a public health expert, nor do I play one on TV.
  15. Japan too. A single dose of AZ seems to be the plan-du-jour for Thailand. Then follow up with second doses when they have enough? They did have a blow-out day yesterday, with 670,834 getting a dose (1st, 2nd and 3rd). The third-dose Pfizer booster did 175,190.
  16. Thai PM apologizes for bikini comment after murder of British tourists https://www.reuters.com/article/us-thailand-britain-murders-idUSKBN0HD1QY20140918 Given the situation (sandbox) and the mega-desperation for the tourist revenue, and the shock and brutality of the crime, and the status of the victim, it's a perfect-storm. The pm was suitably grave and concerned, now, so no flippant comments this time. Thailand/Phuket marketed the sandbox on several levels, sun, sand, fun, escape from COVID and "safety". They pushed ''safety' hard, and of course, that meant safe from COVID. But for prospective customers, safety means whatever they think it means to themselves. Surviving a holiday probably factors into any safety concerns? Yes, crime happens everywhere, but even with a quick arrest, the demand for sandbox travel is sure to fall off as customers look for alternatives. The sandbox will continue, if only to give returnees a Bangkok/ASQ alternative.
  17. To me that means that the date for the appointment will begin as early as 10 or 11 August. And that notification of the appointment would, one hopes, be delivered BEFORE the appointment. For you, it sounds like it means that notifications of future appointments will start being issued on 10 or 11 August. And that appointment dates would follow on 11 or 12 going forward, assuming at least 24 hours notice. Parsing Thinglish is challenging. Khun Tanee did mention a transition of email/contacts/registrations from the old Intervac site to the new expatvac site. Not sure if that affects any experiences? Still no email or SMS for 1 August expatvac registration/confirmation. I did receive an SMS from MOPH-CVC ~ 23 July for an OLD INTERVAC registration, with appointment details: day/date/time/door# at Bang Sue Grand RR, which said to "show this SMS". A few people (two, that I've seen here, on FB, Twitter, another forum) have reported receiving the appointment email so here's hoping more do in the coming days.
  18. Interesting twist... Govt calls in private sector to import 25m jabs as outbreak worsens Facing a Delta-driven outbreak of more than 20,000 cases daily, and barely 6 per cent of the population fully vaccinated, Thailand is finally handing its private sector the means to import vaccines directly. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, as head of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), on August 1 assigned private companies and a working group to import 20-25 million doses of alternative vaccines by the third quarter this year for rapid inoculation. The vaccines, including Sputnik V and Johnson & Johnson (J&J), will be imported directly without the involvement of government agencies. Up till now, almost all of Thailand’s vaccine has been procured by Public Health Ministry agencies, namely the Department of Disease Control, National Vaccine Institute and the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO). https://nationthailand.com/in-focus/40004265
  19. Nah. Think it's the reverse. There is a Thai FDA, and they've classified all vaccines for EU only. If the U.S. FDA approves a vaccine for general use that means nothing for Thailand. Yes, the Thai FDA might follow suit, but maybe not for 3 - 6 months. It is my understanding that until the Thai FDA approves a vaccine for general use, all vaccines must pass through the government, or a Royally approved research academy.
  20. Yeah, I guess, in normal times, but in these times of very few tourists you'd think the hotel would notice that she was not around for 2 - 3 days.
  21. No. The regime ordered 20 mm doses from Pfizer. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/contract-signed-for-thailands-20-million-doses-of-pfizer-vaccine-delivery-in-q4-this-year/ And they say they will order another 10 mm doses. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/first-batch-us-donated-pfizer-vaccines-arrives-thailand-2021-07-30/
