  1. I've noticed this repeatedly this falsity cropping up in your economic arguments. Because most people don't need something now that means that they can do without it until such time as it's available. And maybe it was just one item there might be some truth to that. But when it's a myriad of items, that doesn't work anymore. If a company needs a machine tool now, it needs it now. It can't put off purchases until sometime later. This applies to all sorts of things. And the accumulative effect of not buying many things at a certain time means there is going to be damage to the economy. And of course many of the things that you can buy will cost more. More damage. As for your claim that the trade war is going to be settled soon, thank you traveler from the future. That's so reassuring.
  2. Further thoughts on this. It seems you have a predilection for relying on absence of evidence . First it was Trump understands the trade balance because he has never betrayed in words any understanding of it at all. Now, it's the BLS has changed from its previous fraudulent practices despite the fact there has been absolutely no news about that. Do you understand how nuts that is? That the Trump administration wouldn't publicize something that would incriminate the Biden Administration and make them look better? That they wouldn't trumpet reforms they have made to the system?
  3. There's a reason why manufacturers buy machine tools from China What reason could that be...hmmm. And if no else can currently make up for the shortfall, what are the consequences for American manufacturers?
  4. As I predicted, Trumpists would claim that the BLS was lying. No proof offered. No proof that the BLS has now changed how it operates. Just self-serving falsehoods. Impossible to have a rational exchange with people like you who inhabit an alternatiive reality.
  5. The US population total would also be in decline were it not for immigration.
  6. Yes, it's real far-fetched. Just look at what's facing business owners. It's very hard to make plans when you've got an erratic President in charge. And lots of small business create designs for product and outsource them to China to be manufactured. There's a huge ecosystem over there that took decades to develop, Where do they go now? A big chunk of machine tools come from China, Where do they go now? Etc... And not just about China. Who knows where tariffs on other nations will be 2 months from now?
  7. Really? Employment was strong. Inflation, while slightly higher than the desired 2% level, was not a threat. Before Trump took office, the consensus of economists was that there wasn't much likelihood of a recession.
  8. Not true. Automobile tariffs are already in effect. And Trump's base 10% is also in effect. And tariffs on aluminum and steel.
  9. What don't you understand about the fact that prices are increasing sharply due to the tariffs on Chinese goods? Demand isn't the only factor that govens inflation.
  10. To be fair, part of the drop came from the increase in imports. Importers trying to beat the rush. But not all. Consumers pulled back on spending.
  11. It was higher in 2024. So what's your point?
  12. What don't you understand about the fact that there was a similar drop in federal spending from the previous quarter in both the 2024 and 2025 first quarters. Yet the economy grew in 2024. What don't you Trumpists understand about the importance of consulting facts before you make your claims. https://apps.bea.gov/scb/issues/2024/07-july/pdf/0724-government-receipts-expenditures.pdf
  13. There was a federal spending decline of 5.1% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the last quarter of 2023. https://apps.bea.gov/scb/issues/2024/07-july/pdf/0724-government-receipts-expenditures.pdf?utm_source=chatgpt.com Virtually the same as the spending decline in the first quarter of 2025 Yet somehow the economy a year ago still managed to grow.
  14. How long will it take before Trumpists claim that the figures are fake. You know, like the stolen election.
  15. That's also being done as well as liiquified air. The thing is iron oxide batteries store power very cheaply. About $20 per kwh of storage..And maybe cheaper as time goes by. I don't know what the figures for compressed and liquified air are or projected to be.
  16. The Trump administration has claimed that the Houthis are on the run. I guess they launch their drone while they were fleeing.
  17. What don't you understand about this this phrase from the article: "of which about $5.7 billion has already been spent", And not all of that spending went to enforcement.
  18. First off, not all of the 60 billion was for a crackdown, Moreover, it hasn't all been spent yet. In fact, at the time that article was written "Taxpayers ponied up an additional $60 billion in new revenue for the IRS in recent years, of which about $5.7 billion has already been spent, according to The New York Times." Quite a misleading headline, wouldn't you say? In addition, now with the slashing going on, the loss is projected to be a lot higher.
  19. Trumps tax cuts are conservatively estimated to cost the USA about $700 billion per year. And the lower your income is, the greater the burden due to tariffs.
  20. Does that include Trump's tax cuts and slashing the IRS enforcement division?
  21. Yes. Look at all the fraud that Musk and his team haven't found. It's astonishing!
  22. I guess we'll know soon enough. But only a moron or a greedy so-an-so would think that cutting tax enforcement would result in savings. Taxes are how government gets its money
  23. The trouble with that, unfortunately, is a near universal economic phenomenon called gravity. Basically, there is a positive correlation between how close countries are and how much they trade with each other. Now what Mexicans have said seems also to have come true for Canada. Here is the slightly revised version: Poor Canada, so far from God, so close to the United States.
  24. Next time, can you please provide less evidence and more conspiracy theories? Thanks!!!
