Ok so I went to immigration today. They were really friendly but did not grant me a 60 day Covid extension.
I did ask why and they said I had to get the 30 day extension first and then I could apply for the Covid extension towards the end of that 30 days (if they roll the Covid extension measure for another couple of months)
Does that sound right?

Hi all
anyone know what the best reason to put on the reason for extension to have the best bet of 60 day extension being granted. I’ve seen some people just write ‘60 day extension’ rather than give a specific reason. Any advice is appreciated.

You would deal with Muang Thong Thani.
MTT. You can apply for 60 day covid extension. You may need to have copy of TM30 report. Where did you obtain previous extensions?
This is my first extension application @DrJack54

Don't listen to the ranters.
You are entitled to Covid extension.
Many folk obtaining them every day in exactly your situation. As I posted #1 using another 'normal' immigration office is an option, however that is messy. Bangkok good option.
I suggest that you clarify first with your immigration office that they are not mistaken.
There is an affidavit that many offices have been using. Someone will post you a link. Take that along to your imm office.
Apart from all that you can use an agent for non o based on volunteering etc. Not cheap but an option.
Edit: As I understand it agent can also assist you with covid extension.
Good luck.
Hi @DrJack54 is there an immigration office in Bangkok you would recommend as being particularly helpful? I am due to request an extension (hopefully for 60 days!) later this week. -

As the name implies it a special extension they created due to the pandemic caused the borders to close. They have been extending the order for them for 2 months at a time and current extension of it ends on the 30th of this month but they will likely extend it again.
Applying for it is almost the same as applying for the 30 day extension other than completing a affidavit with choices for the reason you need the extension. It is the same 1900 fee as the 30 day extension.
Thanks @ubonjoe this is really helpful and good to know. Fingers crossed I will be able to get a 60 day when it comes to applying for the extension.

- Does anyone know if you are able to switch to the STV visa if already in Thailand?
- If not, is it possible to go to a closer by country and apply for STV from there?

You may be able to apply for 60 day covid 19 extension.
You do not have many choices if you do not find work.
Hi @ubonjoe thanks for the speedy reply and useful knowledge (as usual!)
Can you give me some more info on the 60 day COVID extension? I've only heard of a 30 day extension before now. -
Hi all
I am looking for some advice. I entered Thailand on a single entry tourism visa as I have moved over here to look for work and live with my partner. I understand that to work, I will need to convert my single entry visa and also get a work permit.
I am applying for jobs but am concerned that I may run out of time on the single entry visa (even after the 30 day extension) so looking to the forum for advice around other options for a longer stay, if there are any, aside from securing work. -
Thanks for the other suggestions coming in! All are very much appreciated ????

Hi all
Recently moved to Bangkok to live with my boyfriend. We want to kit out our flat and spruce it up a little but I am struggling to find many nice furniture stores online. I mainly get directed to Lazada or IKEA. I think there is a habitat in Bangkok but wondered if there is anything similar to made.com, maison du monde, snugsofa, wayfair or similar places (in store or online, either would be great!)
any recommendations welcome! ????

Not sure if this is helpful to anyone that is looking to travel over in the future but I've just added some more detail on the requirements for the different stages you have to go through and what I did. Hopefully it will be helpful to someone as the info on different websites is not always so clear
Visa- Applying for the visa is quite straightforward using this website https://thaievisa.go.th/
- One thing to make sure of is that when you've submitted that you go to the 'check status' page and make the payment to then be able to send off your passport to the embassy
- I used payslips as proof of income
- As I am staying with a partner, they drafted a letter of invitation for me. There are plenty of examples of letters which can be used online if you search
Certificate of entry
- Full details on COE can be found on the embassy website https://london.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/application-for-certificate-of-entry-to-thailand-for-non-thai-nationa?page=5d6636cd15e39c3bd00072dd&menu=5d6636cd15e39c3bd00072de
- Once you have your visa, you can then complete your certificate of entry application online
- Fill in the application form as instructed, you don't need to have your quarantine hotel booked at this stage. I waited until after the COE had been approved
-
For insurance, I used Safetywing Nomad Insurance https://safetywing.com/
- Make sure to select the correct date range to cover the period you are travelling for. There are online advisors that can help you with that
- You'll also need a document which clearly shows the level of cover and that it covers COVID 19. To do this, you need to log into a separate portal and download a visa letter. If you speak to one of the online advisors, they will give you link and registration instructions. Print this off.
-
Once approved, you'll then need to upload some additional details including your flight and ASQ hotel details. I found mine by using https://thaiest.com/blog/list-of-alternative-state-quarantine-asq-hotels-thailand
- You send an enquiry and then receive an invite letter form the hotel and can book from them
- Make sure you keep a copy of the booking confirmation as you'll need to print a copy of this for entry into the country
- You'll also need to download, print and fill in a copy of the T8 declaration form
- For fit to fly health certificate and negative covid test, it's really important that these are TWO SEPARATE DOCUMENTS. I used medicspot who send an email with the negative covid test result and then an attachment of the fit to fly health certificate
Anyway, hope this helps a little bit. If anyone has any more questions, feel free to ask.

Great news!
Did they actually ask you anything at the airport when you were leaving the UK?
Hi Miguel, no they didn't but I did have to complete a T6 form on the flight to hand to immigration in Bangkok where you need to state your reason for entering.- 1

There will be from today. You will need a valid reason to leave the UK and will face interrogation at the airport.good luck.
I am going out to apply for work and relocate to live with my partner who is already living there and is working there, since august 20202. I have begun applying for jobs to get a work permit. Not sure how much more proof I can give that I am not going for a holiday.

Anyone travelling between now and Sunday on a tourism visa? Do you have any concerns over the new declaration measures?

Sorry I missed this - looks like you found it anyway!
All went smoothly for me - no enquiries as to reasons for travel. Just arrived in ASQ. Make sure you print off all of the documents that the embassy list because they do all get checked multiple times.
@ewingjm really glad to hear it has all gone smoothly for you. All the best for your time in Thailand ☺️ -

I’m going to go through this process soon myself with 60 day Tourist visa
it looks like leaving UK went smoothly, any questions about reason for travel?
I go on Sunday 31st so I’m concerned about the same thing but I don’t think there will be issues. I am going out on the tourist visa initially but intend to look for work and am joining my partner who lives and works in Bangkok already.

Hi @treetopsi don’t have that document but I do have a policy booklet which outlines the policy benefits in a table. I’ve attached screenshots.

I've gone for SafetyWing - Insurance for Nomads, by Nomads. Reasonably priced and no such restrictions.
Hi @ewingjm can I ask which documents you are using from the safetywing insurance to show proof of cover up to 100,000 USD?
I shared policy documents with my hotel and they had trouble finding the info, even though it is in there.
not long now till you will be that plane! ????

Im in asq now, both flights with etihad from Manchester were sparse, cant fault them though the drinks were flowing.bit of a eye opener at bangkok, paperwork checked about 5 times, make sure your fit 2 fly is headlined with those words.
When you come through customs there will be a crowd of people waiting for you to take you to your hotel, thier you will load two apps to your phone and have a quick medical, blood pressure ect, the apps are for ordering your food everyday and sending youre temperature to the hospital.
@lanng khaothat’s great news! Glad it all went ok. Did you have any issues at Manchester airport with questions around reason for travel?

I am waiting to fly from UK on 21st Jan, and checked with UK authorities about travel during the lock-down.
1. It is OK to travel to clinic to get Covid test and fit to fly cert prior to flying.
2. As I am a retiree normally living in Thailand, I can return to Thailand during the present lockdown, so long as I satisfy the entry requirements for Thailand (often stated on T/V)
Other legitimate reasons for travel to Thailand are given on UK gov web-site.
3. The local taxi firm I contacted confirmed that they would take me to the airport if I had a genuine reason to travel.
UK news tonight stated that UK police are to be more active in stopping un-necessary travel.
Note that Covid is rising in UK because the country has a rigorous testing and reporting regime in place and 'bad news' is not supressed.
I only have to pass my Covid test next week, and I will be on my way.
My experience has been that as I had a genuine reason to travel to Thailand, and did as the Thais required, I will be allowed to travel.
Incidentally, all bookings fro flight, insurance and ASQ had clauses that allowed cancellation if I had a genuine reason not to travel.
Thanks @Robin for the info. Can I ask how you contacted UK authorities to check? And are you on a tourism visa?
