  1. Correct, and IMHO any change to be able to tax "World Wide Income", will be years away as laws will need to be rewritten after obtaining initial approval from the Government to proceed, and I don't think that approval will be obtained easily, as it would most probably hit many of them hard in their own pockets.
  2. To me that's the most worrying part. The bank has also been requesting, for years now, (in case they have a need for them) that I provide them with details of my country of residence (I have only a Thai address, both the bank and HMRC/DWP are fully aware of that fact) and my Tax Identification Number, I have ignored that part of the request as the bank gives no interest on the account therefore there is no tax implications for them to be concerned with.
  3. Hopefully they will treat Starmer the same as other low cost pensioners are being treated. Apparently he has a tax exemption for his pensions written into actual UK law.
  4. No area stated, do you mean city or region or both, and no real question asked. If you are looking for information, first you need to give some, just posting a possibly ambiguous title is a waste of space.
  5. Thai's and many others reckon they are not "road users but pedestrians on wheels", and banning them wouldn't make any difference anyway, all you've got to do is look at one-way only streets, it doesn't seem to apply to motorbikes (nor some cars either).
  6. Assume you will get the basic sum updated as well not only the annual increases.
  7. Yes it's an anomaly, there are many in the same position throughout the world, e.g. live in America you get the annual increases, live in Canada (an ex commonwealth country) you don't.
  8. Do they though, if they are illegal they don't pay taxes or NI (neither personal or company portions), the only thing they contribute is keeping DSS staff employed looking after them.
  9. Why would Thailand want to give him free board and lodgings when the UK will do it for them for the cost of 1 phone call, also saves them the trouble of a court case and then deporting him, he could still land on the Thai Immigration blacklist (or maybe not if they want his 44 million THB again)
  10. Course it could, especially if somebody hit's you on the head with it. IMHO don't think either will help grow or maintain your brain cells, I drink Chang because (to me) it tastes better than Leo, but would be quite prepared to switch if I though it would assist in keeping my one remaining brain cell. A friend only drinks Leo because he says that it helps with his blood sugar levels, others prefer the taste of Leo. Personal choice.
  11. If you have an Embassy Income Letter do you really need to comply with the 65k/m deposits as well.
  12. Roundabouts are no good here nobody knows how to use them. We have 1 here right in the center of town, and 3 actions you see all the time. 1. Some seem to have no idea of going clockwise round the island, they approach and then turn right across the face, 2. Predominately the drivers reckon those approaching the roundabout have right of way, result the roundabout gets blocked up, and then 3. The shop I want is on a corner so I'll just park right in front of the shop door, and block half the traffic flow
  13. When I informed Royal Bank of Scotland (20 years ago) of my imminent intention to sell up and move to Thailand, I was informed even back then that "no UK address" means "no UK bank account", I would need to open an Offshore/International account.
  14. Copy and paste. Like you, I've had my Lloyds account for so long my minimum balance requirements and fees are not consistent with the current iteration of the account, expect this to be addressed soon, i.e. meet the new requirements of be off.
  15. Lloyds International Premier, it's 20GBP per month if I don't maintain the 2,500GBP balance' As far as I can see it is no longer available at these rates to new customers, and I fully expect to find it being closed from under me. Hence why I have been looking to move elsewhere, but all I've seen to date are either must have UK residence or require sums outside my ability.
